Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you knew when you were young. 8221; – Mary Schmich. I’ve frequently been rubbish at keeping in touch with valued friends. I’ve let things drift. And another month. Except, of course, it is JUS...

Hold on to the precious few →. November 2, 2012 · 13:01. English words used in literature. I was somewhat bemused (and a little pleased) when I discovered some time afterwards that they’d been borrowed and published as an appendix in someone’s book (“A Revolution: Learn to Learn English” by Chu Dongwei (“D.W.”) in China in 2007. About photographer Joe Wigfall, and with a couple of hours to kill in Oviedo while my car windscreen was replaced, I decided to try my hand at street photography. The big guy on the left was actually giving out Christian literature. Pretty much no one paid any attention to the fiddler as they went past. People on the phone often have no idea what else is going on around them. One response to “. You are c...

Hold on to the precious few. Learning Italian →. July 23, 2013 · 19:45. Shooting my first wedding. I shot my first wedding on Saturday. I’m pleased with the results – I’ll probably share some in a few weeks (EDIT: now included), but I’m still editing – and contractually the bride and groom get first look at the images once done. Anyway, I thought I’d share some of my thoughts on what was good and bad photographically about the day. LESSONS / ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT. Any of these would have done the job:.

The idea is for writers to talk a little about their next project. So, here goes. What is the title of your next book? Where did the idea for the book come from? Is out in February...

November 22, 2013 · 23:49. My favourite Spanish expressions. In Spanish, we ‘take someone’s hair’ (tomar el pelo) instead of ‘pull their leg’, and we ‘throw a hand’ (echar un mano) instead of ‘lend a hand’. Like any language, there are plenty of informal, idiomatic expressions that make no sense if translated literally. Here’s a countdown of my favourites. 10 Es un rollo repollo. 7 Es que eres de Madrid? In English we would say ‘were you born in a barn? 6 Por si las moscas. 5 Me aburro como una ostra.
