Noshing in the Midwest. It's not just hogs and hot dishes. Sunday, December 28, 2014. On a recent, cold Saturday evening, I was craving a hot, greasy burger. Noshing in the Midwest: February 2012

http://www.noshingmidwest.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Noshing in the Midwest. It's not just hogs and hot dishes. Thursday, February 2, 2012. 2011 was not a good year to start a business on University Avenue in St. Paul. Construction of the new light rail wreaked havoc on small businesses that dot University, such as Cupcake and The Edge Coffee Shop. But against all odds, Chef On Khumchaya opened On's Kitchen, an authentic Thai restaurant where "Mild" means "bring a Kleenex.". The spring rolls are about the size of a small infant, and stuffed full of crisp l...

Noshing in the Midwest. It's not just hogs and hot dishes. Monday, January 23, 2012. I am not an expert on the various cuisines of India. I am sure there are many restaurants featuring Indian and other Asian foods that are much more authentic than India Palace in Roseville, Minnesota. But I have always enjoyed the lunch buffet (a great way to experience any food you are not familiar with), so when a friend recently invited us for dinner there, I was excited to try it. Noshing in the Midwest: November 2014

Noshing in the Midwest. It's not just hogs and hot dishes. Monday, November 10, 2014. But after a long absence, inspiration struck yesterday when I went to a demonstration and book signing by Zoë François and Stephanie Meyer at Kitchen in the Market. Both ladies have recently released lovely new books. Zoë is on her fifth book with partner Jeff Hertzberg, Gluten-Free Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day. And Stephanie just released her first book, Twin Cities Chef's Table. So, back to the inspiration....

Tuesday, February 22, 2011. There is a woman in New York who is trying to kill me. I've never met her, so I cannot think of what I could have done to provoke this. She keeps posting these beautiful cakes and other delicacies on her blog, SmittenKitchen. Just egging me on, "try this, I know you wanna.it's not that. Bad for you.". But wait, there's more. http://themanymoodsofmillie.blogspot.com/2012/02/childrens-museum.html

The Many Moods of Millie. It's her house, we just live here. Saturday, February 4, 2012. If you know me at all, you know that I am not a big fan of museums, especially ones focused on children. But our last visit to the Children's Museum in St. Paul was actually pretty fun. It was very quiet, which helped, and Millie was older so I wasn't nearly as terrified when she was out of sight. Millie's favorite part of our visit? In Peter Rabbit's house in the Story Book exhibit. Elliot gets a little help from Mom.

Monday, April 25, 2011. Or, The Day The Diet Died. At preschool, the kids made Easter Trail Mix, which Millie raved about. All I was able to get out of her was that it included cheddar gold fish, so I decided that we could make our own. To be extra festive, we chose only Easter-y colors, thus steering away from Cheddar anything. Annie's Honey Graham Bunnies. Raspberry yogurt covered pretzels (at Rainbow bulk section). Sugar and Spice: Rugelach

http://sugarandspicecook.blogspot.com/2011/10/rugelach.html

Monday, October 3, 2011. Happy New Year to my fellow Jewish friends. In honor of Rosh Ha Shana, I made Zoe Francois's "modern" rugelach, to rave reviews. Rugelach, a traditional Yiddish crescent shaped pastry is often filled with dates and apricot jam, earning it a reputation for being "old lady" food, as my husband so eloquently said. Leave it to Zoe to make rugelach cool again. She fills hers with raspberry jam and chocolate. Now how can that be bad? Recipe on Zoe Bakes. Noshing in the Midwest.

Sugar and Spice: March 2013

http://sugarandspicecook.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 5, 2013. This morning, I juiced the living daylights out of a pound of carrots and a beautifully ripe pineapple, which left me with this:. Since clearly one cannot have too many baked goods in one's home, I consulted Zoe Bakes. For a recipe, which reliably, she delivered. I made a few tweaks to appease the finicky five-year old and omitted the cream cheese frosting to cut the calories/points/fat or whatever it is you are counting, and ended up with these moist, satisfying lovelies. Kosher for Passover Flourless Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Sauce. March 29th, 2010 by Dessert Lover.
