Exploring the world of old-time music
Soooo…. What’s happened since my last post in March? | Notes From Around the Bend
https://notesfromaroundthebend.wordpress.com/2015/06/17/soooo-whats-happened-since-my-last-post-in-march
Notes From Around the Bend. Exploring the world of old-time music. A Funny Thing Happened. Can’t sleep, so… time to write another blog post? Soooo…. What’s happened since my last post in March? Quite a bit, actually. Also did a few bluegrass gigs with the “Beaver Creek Philharmonic”, the most recent being the Flywheel Convention a month or so ago in McGuuireville, AZ. This got us a write-up in the paper. I’m working to change that understanding, one tune at a time! Share on Facebook (Opens in new window).

Right now, it is December 31, 12:30 am. I really did not mean to abandon this blog – or the other one, either. In part, this piece is for both. That is changing, starting now. The rebuilding will be chronicled in either Notes from Around the Bend or Reclaiming the Muse. 2) do public performance with both my groups,...

Notes From Around the Bend. Exploring the world of old-time music. Found ‘Em…. A Funny Thing Happened →. My new space…. Is pretty darn groovy! It took more than a bit of wiggling to get all this (plus a whole lot more that you can’t see) into a 10′ x 12′ space and have room enough left to play in. I’m proud of me! And more than happy that the music is going well, as is most everything else. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window). Found ‘Em…. Spending th...

Notes From Around the Bend. Exploring the world of old-time music. My new space…. Soooo…. What’s happened since my last post in March? A Funny Thing Happened. Just after the previous post. My computer crashed. And a whole lot of need-to-do-it-now home repairs presented themselves. So we hired a handyman and other sorts, thoroughly scrambled the budget to fit new priorities, and otherwise kept on paddling upstream. But it beats using a tablet for some things, so also grateful for the loan! On March 26, 20...

It’s hard to describe Belgrade, Serbia in a nutshell but I can try to sum it up by explaining my first hour there:. He opens the door and leads me through a bright, modern apartment. It’s cool and spacious. It has a patio. It’s not at all what I anticipated. The same can be said for Belgrade, a city barely on my radar before it landed on ...If cities are people, Ser...

Cocker also writes that ‘a preoccupation with the exceptional is almost hardwired into the human imagination’. It’s become almost impossible to escape the lure of the exceptional. But perhaps the exceptional (the marketable) is becoming the least worthy of thought. Perhaps the mystery in the familiar is becoming the hardest thing to understand. Sometimes the nearest...
Notes From Around
Sex a love story. These are notes from my stay on the planet so far. A box of journals, for example, from when I went to SF State, worked at a hair salon called Zip Zap, and lived in an art gallery on Haight Street with a guy named Dylan and a cat named Blood. I know a freshman at SF State now. She could never afford to live anywhere in the city, especially not the Lower Haight. It was a different San Francisco back then. But it’s notes from today too. Brush paint the house. one dollar. October 29, 2014.

Notes from Ashanti town...
Notes from Ashanti town. Friday, 20 July 2012. So after a mind- and bottom-numbingly boring wait in the immigration building in central Kumasi, I was finally reunited with my passport (and it only took two visits and a two hour wait). What's more, it was complete with a visa extension, meaning that happily I was no longer illegally in the country. Good stuff. I finished off the day back in my hostel in Aflao, and to relax I found myself watching Invictus. In the back of the converted van, this passed slo...
