Notes from Montana: July 2008

http://notesfrommontana.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

A diary of summer paleo fieldwork from Dr. Mary Schweitzer. Friday, July 11, 2008. Megan delving into another side of paleontology.I think that Megan likes her regular job better—. She is more at home in the lab, showing Ben and Clive what they need to do to repeat our work. The beginnings of sunset over the river. ….and the last time my tent looks normal…sigh. Best form of art ever! Prospecting a new area. Wow…what a view. Bunny friend… they multiply like…well…Like rabbits I guess. Quite literally turni...

http://notesfrommontana.blogspot.com/2008/07/june-22-continued.html

A diary of summer paleo fieldwork from Dr. Mary Schweitzer. Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Our prospecting comes to a close an hour or so early. We are pretty far out, and while looking in one direction is fine…. We have all clear in one direction, but unfortunately this is NOT the direction the weather is coming from…. Quite literally turning just a few degrees we get an entirely different picture. 8230;This is. We make a run for the vehicles. How many different bones can you see in this guy? Dr Mary Schweitz...

Notes from Montana: June 2008

http://notesfrommontana.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

A diary of summer paleo fieldwork from Dr. Mary Schweitzer. Monday, June 30, 2008. In the Field Part II - June 3 - 6. Finally, we have good weather for prospecting. This is my very favorite part of paleontology—out in the sun, when it is like this—not too hot, fresh air, and nothing but the sound of birds, or silence. Prospecting a new area for potential! My favorite part of paleo. This region could be called ‘the big empty’ - it is filled with beauty but you have to look hard sometimes. This poor little...

Notes from Montana: August 2008

http://notesfrommontana.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

A diary of summer paleo fieldwork from Dr. Mary Schweitzer. Friday, August 8, 2008. June 28 - July 4: Part IV. The other thing that points to why things preserve well out here is showcased in this graffiti carved into the sandstone wall behind our hosts’ home. Things don’t weather much here, and a love caught in sandstone almost a hundred years ago still remains. Can you believe it? And they were definitely meat-eating teeth. Possible theropod bone, and DEFINITE theropod teeth! This was a very cool site&...

Notes from Montana: June 28 - July 4: Part III

http://notesfrommontana.blogspot.com/2008/08/june-28-july-4-part-iii.html

A diary of summer paleo fieldwork from Dr. Mary Schweitzer. Thursday, August 7, 2008. June 28 - July 4: Part III. Distant view of some of the land we prospected. Look how green the valley lands, in this dry, high prairie! These bluffs are amazingly productive for dinosaur bone. Need a hand to look closely at this bone—the cliff face is steep and slippery. The bone is hollow, with a very dense outer layer—this might mean it is a meat eater,on the line of dinosaurs related to birds. One of the best things ...

Notes from Moldova

Disclaimer: this is my personal blog, and what I say in no way reflects the thoughts or opinions of the U.S. government or the Peace Corps* *. Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Moldovan weddings are long. I arrived at the bride's house at 10am Sunday morning and left the wedding at 6am Monday morning. According to my host mom, modern Moldovan weddings are much shorter than they used to be. Her wedding lasted two full days. If you have a fear of public speaking, Moldovan weddings are not for you. 1 I was recently v...

Saturday, June 9, 2012. Little house on the Prairie (Ave). We've been very busy the past few days! And I had so much fun with you kids and all of our outdoor projects. First we planted our gardens:. We didn't have such a good ending to our really great day. At around 10pm, everyone started throwing up, eeeeewwww! On Saturday we went to the French Market to get some treats, Bobby, you got a cubs cookie, June, you got a ladybug cookie and when I asked what we should get Molly, June excitedly said " I will ...

Thursday, November 10, 2011. Notes From My Nest has a new home! To our family and faithful followers, we have moved! Not literally. Just to a new place on this world wide web. You may know this. But, I'm passionate about documenting life. So, I spend a lot of time in front of this screen. I'm encouraged by many other bloggers and would like to do likewise to those who take time out to read here. I also wanted to move to a platform that would simplify my life. Since tech savvy. So, here we go. And it's wh...

Notes from Moosehaven

My retirement journey in the woods. Sunday, November 19, 2017. Christmas Tree Skirt - Finished! I had purchased Cindi Edgerton's Trim the Tree. It was paper pieced which I generally love to do. The actual pieces while time consuming worked up nicely. Once I got two done, I was inspired to finish the other six. And, once the eight were complete I was very excited! It was shaping up nicely but the big question was when it was sewn together would it be flat? Links to this post. Monday, October 23, 2017.

Notes from Mosquito Hill | random musings from the life of a firefighter, paramedic, train buff, photographer, family man

NOTES FROM MOSQUITO HILL / random musings. . . March 17, 2018. The hum of the refrigerator. The steady drip of snow melting on the roof. The intermittent creak as sunlight warms the bones of the porch. The click of the thermostat on my space heater. No bleeping, dinging, or buzzing phones. No television or YouTube. No scanner, no pager, no IAmResponding. Alerts. No voices, no footsteps, no hum and clank of laundry. Back later; my book is calling. A post shared by James Chadbourne. Comments Off on Saturday.

Notes from Mother | Just another WordPress.com weblog

Happy Mother’s Day! Here is an adorable sequence of pictures she drew as a thank you for the Mother’s Day gift I gave her in 1997– a day of doing whatever chore was needed,no matter how bizarre or painstaking, no questions asked. I took care of all the cats, ran errands, vacuumed, and folded laundry. I also was contacted by John Moxon, who runs a site ALSO called Notes From Mother. He suggested we do a tag team post. 😀. He has some great stuff there, too–check it out! May 9, 2010 at 2:17 pm. I don&#8217...
