NOTES FROM MOSQUITO HILL / random musings. . . July 23, 2015. Every summer we swear we will keep the craziness in check. We will limit our activities and commitments. This year we really meant it. We limited the number of horse shows and trips we had planned. Things were looking and feeling good. And yet. . . Depart for mountains in the bus. Hike a couple miles in the rain. Picnic in Intervale. Set up VW in camp and enjoy evening thunder showers from inside. Depart fairgrounds at 0430. Work for 24. With ...

NOTES FROM MOSQUITO HILL / random musings. . . March 8, 2016. Minimalism Game Day 8: Eight unbuilt fire engine models. I used to enjoy building these HO scale German fire engines. The kits are simple, and I could finish one while relaxing on a Sunday afternoon. I have a box full of completed ones in the attic, and I haven’t built one in years. Off they go. I’ll have to deal with the completed ones later. 8 model fire engines. 2 washing machine hoses. A box of train track. 4 random electronic things.

NOTES FROM MOSQUITO HILL / random musings. . . April 26, 2016. A walk in the woods. . . Spring is here. With my impending hike of Mount Washington, I have felt the urge to get out on the trails and warm up a bit. Yesterday I had an hour to spare, so I took a brief trek to the fire tower. At Pawtuckaway State Park. Best laid plans. . . I took a wrong turn and explored a few extra miles of fire roads and Jeep trails with Mrs. Mack505’s truck. Her 7000lb, 2500 series, 4-door GMC Denali Diesel truck. I would...

NOTES FROM MOSQUITO HILL / random musings. . . July 19, 2016. Today figured pretty high on my list of days I hope never to repeat. We lost Noah unexpectedly. I will write in due course, but it’s too raw right now. I’ve been frittering away the evening scanning negatives and watching YouTube. These are taken with my new ONDU 6×6 pinhole on Portra 400 during my trip to Lakes of the Clouds. Dining Room, Lakes of the Clouds. Portrait of a cold, wet hiker. :-). Comments Off on Pinhole. Potholes On The Road Called Life. Tuesday, March 29, 2011. I got a Kindle! I got a Kindle! I was sitting on the couch, just finishing my lunch when UPS man showed up. He of course had a package. No biggie. I had ordered some DVD's for Max a couple of days ago. Surprised that they had come so quickly I took the little box. Love, Sis and bro-in-law". My sister is awesome. Love ya sis. Potholes On The Road Called Life. Sunday, November 2, 2014. Thanks to google, I found a website that talked about submitting a personal letter along with your offer. I found it two days before I did a walk through of my current. My original request list and what I ended up buying is totally different. I was so lucky to get my home. I'll list the differences here so you can see what I mean. Less than $80,000. 2 bath if possible. No smaller than 800 sq. feet. 1600 sq. feet. Home sits on 1 1/2 lots. Looking...

The stars must be lined up in a funky way because it sure is making things wild at work. If it could go wrong it has. We have been having patients coming out of our ears. The nurses are grumpy and have threaten to run away. And to top it off we are having a. This is an example of the stupidity that is going on:. I may have dreaded going to work on c...

Potholes On The Road Called Life. Wednesday, December 28, 2011. My family is nuts! So how is my family nuts? Welllemme see. I will give you a short description of what we did on Christmas Eve. Tequila shots with salt and lime. Dinner of Tamales and Burritos. Roasting Marshmallows on the fire pit. Falling over in our chairs. Playing pool and horseshoes. Sending the young ones for a beer run. (yes, they were 21). Chasing each other with fireworks called fire balls. My family may be nuts but I love them all.

http://lisasroadcalledlife.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Potholes On The Road Called Life. Thursday, September 29, 2011. Recently I was filling out a questionnaire at a new doctors office. After the paperwork was done I was sitting there nervous and trying to think of things to distract myself. While doing this I started thinking about the funny and weird questions that I have come across over the years. How many glasses of alcohol do you drink a week? What sort of recreational activities do you participate in? Uh what do you consider recreational activities?

Potholes On The Road Called Life. Friday, December 31, 2010. Brrrrrrrrrr, It's cold here! I couldn't believe how cold it was here. 27 freakin degrees! Now I moved to Arizona for 2 things, cheaper to live here and warm weather. Well, I am not so sure anymore about #2. I left work only to find my car covered with ice and had to get out an old ID card to scrape my windows. I made one with polar fleece lining and fur on the outside. It weighs a ton but I was so warm and happy that night. Everyone was...Can y...

http://lisasroadcalledlife.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Potholes On The Road Called Life. Thursday, February 24, 2011. I have tried to plan a couple of trips but life kept getting in the way. For example, I was going to meet a boyfriend in Paris for New Years 2000 but because of the Y2K hype everyone at my hospital was banned from taking vacation from Thanksgiving to February. I seriously considered quitting just so I wouldn't miss a once in a lifetime opportunity. Someday I will get that darned passport filled. Wednesday, February 23, 2011. There are many ot...

A (in)human look at the Fire Service and what comes after. Saturday, February 15, 2014. Ya know Schmoe", a slightly fuzzy Willie Wines. Said to an even more fuzzy Joseph Schmoe, "there's one thing I have never understood.". Why is it that you guys in California always wear those funny plastic helmets? My first helmet on the left, my last on the right. I was very fortunate to meet Ray Russell, the founder of Phenix Fire Technology,. Early in my career. We served in the same volunteer fire company, loc...

Saturday, June 9, 2012. Little house on the Prairie (Ave). We've been very busy the past few days! And I had so much fun with you kids and all of our outdoor projects. First we planted our gardens:. We didn't have such a good ending to our really great day. At around 10pm, everyone started throwing up, eeeeewwww! On Saturday we went to the French Market to get some treats, Bobby, you got a cubs cookie, June, you got a ladybug cookie and when I asked what we should get Molly, June excitedly said " I will ...

Thursday, November 10, 2011. Notes From My Nest has a new home! To our family and faithful followers, we have moved! Not literally. Just to a new place on this world wide web. You may know this. But, I'm passionate about documenting life. So, I spend a lot of time in front of this screen. I'm encouraged by many other bloggers and would like to do likewise to those who take time out to read here. I also wanted to move to a platform that would simplify my life. Since tech savvy. A diary of summer paleo fieldwork from Dr. Mary Schweitzer. Friday, August 8, 2008. June 28 - July 4: Part IV. The other thing that points to why things preserve well out here is showcased in this graffiti carved into the sandstone wall behind our hosts’ home. Things don’t weather much here, and a love caught in sandstone almost a hundred years ago still remains. Can you believe it? And they were definitely meat-eating teeth. Possible theropod bone, and DEFINITE theropod teeth! This was a very cool site&...

My retirement journey in the woods. Sunday, November 19, 2017. Christmas Tree Skirt - Finished! I had purchased Cindi Edgerton's Trim the Tree. It was paper pieced which I generally love to do. The actual pieces while time consuming worked up nicely. Once I got two done, I was inspired to finish the other six. And, once the eight were complete I was very excited! It was shaping up nicely but the big question was when it was sewn together would it be flat? Links to this post. Monday, October 23, 2017.

NOTES FROM MOSQUITO HILL / random musings. . . March 17, 2018. The hum of the refrigerator. The steady drip of snow melting on the roof. The intermittent creak as sunlight warms the bones of the porch. The click of the thermostat on my space heater. No bleeping, dinging, or buzzing phones. No television or YouTube. No scanner, no pager, no IAmResponding. Alerts. No voices, no footsteps, no hum and clank of laundry. Back later; my book is calling. A post shared by James Chadbourne. Comments Off on Saturday.

Notes from Mother | Just another WordPress.com weblog

Happy Mother’s Day! Here is an adorable sequence of pictures she drew as a thank you for the Mother’s Day gift I gave her in 1997– a day of doing whatever chore was needed,no matter how bizarre or painstaking, no questions asked. I took care of all the cats, ran errands, vacuumed, and folded laundry. I also was contacted by John Moxon, who runs a site ALSO called Notes From Mother. He suggested we do a tag team post. 😀. He has some great stuff there, too–check it out! May 9, 2010 at 2:17 pm. I don&#8217...

Notes from Mt. Pleasant. Promoting and documenting Americana music in London. Books, blogs, mags. A power pop road trip from Oxford to Brooklyn: The Dreaming Spires. The Spires’ love for Big Star is obvious they host a monthly night, Covered in Glory , at The Betsey Trotwood in Clerkenwell, where they invite friends to help them play covers from a legendary artist, and the opening night was dedicated to Big Star (The Byrds and Gram Parsons. The Beatles and The Band have also been honoured). The album fal...
