Notes from Room 311. Archive for April, 2010. The Bill of Rights Institute. April 8, 2010 @ 5:59 pm. 183; { Thoughts on Teaching. Today, they taught about the Federalists vs. the Anti-Federalists, and we went through three different lessons that are easily incorporated into classrooms. I really enjoyed it and will use these in my government classes in the future. I swear I get nothing for this endorsement; I just love them so much! Dena's Writing Desk. Blog at WordPress.com. Notes from Room 311. February 22, 2010 @ 1:49 pm. 183; { Thoughts on Teaching. But…then reality hits. I’m now one or two or more days behind schedule! How am I going to make up all that work in such a short period? Or, what do I cut out? This is especially hard for me with my U.S. history class. I’ve thought about each of those assignments carefully. Put them in for a specific reason. What do I get rid of? Still…I think I wouldn’t mind a snow day today…too bad I had to come into work.

Dena's Writing Desk: December 2009
http://denaswritingdesk.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Just a little journey in writing. Wednesday, December 30, 2009. It's the end.of 2009 that is. I can't believe the year is just about over. I think my only resolution for the year is just that I need to write more.whether that's here or in other places. I know there are other things I could resolve to do, this is promising to be a hectic year in my life, but I'm going to give it a try. . Monday, December 21, 2009. Where has the time gone? Thursday, December 3, 2009. 160;And 3 of those are holidays.w...
Dena's Writing Desk: May 2010
http://denaswritingdesk.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Just a little journey in writing. Sunday, May 30, 2010. To Cut or Not to Cut, that is the Question. It's a bit like life I suppose. Sometimes we just have to recognize that what we're doing isn't working. No amount of ignoring problems, finagling situations, or manipulating people is going to change the facts. We are messed up people and we need to rely on the Author and Perfecter of our lives to bring our story to a satisfactory conclusion. Saturday, May 29, 2010. And that's not the way to live. So, I'v...
Dena's Writing Desk: Writing from life
http://denaswritingdesk.blogspot.com/2011/02/writing-from-life.html
Just a little journey in writing. Sunday, February 27, 2011. I imagine my mom's story would be interesting to write, though I don't know how I could put into words some of the more painful times in her life. Recently, I've realized the story potential in my own life, though I can't imagine creating some kind of memoir. I'm not that interesting. But, I do see the potential in the story of the recent adoption of my son, either fictionally or otherwise. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Verse of the Day!
Dena's Writing Desk: Rediscovering the Greats
http://denaswritingdesk.blogspot.com/2010/07/rediscovering-greats.html
Just a little journey in writing. Monday, July 5, 2010. I've been inspired recently to read some novels that are older than I am. I re-read The Wizard of Oz some months ago (which I totally recommend! And started Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I haven't finished Alice, yet, but I'll get back to her. In fact, I may have to pick up a few more of her books.I've heard she's written or two. ;). I'll let you know what I think when I finish it up. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). On a Mission: O.am. Dena's Writing Desk: March 2010
http://denaswritingdesk.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Just a little journey in writing. Sunday, March 14, 2010. I need a life-threatening situation! I love putting my characters in danger.it gets the blood pumping (their's and mine) and ups the ante. A story without conflict is B-O-R-I-N-G! 160;And, in a suspense novel conflict often translates into something involving guns, blood, death, fights.you get the picture. I admit, I'm an action junkie. I want to create fear and anxiety in my characters whenever it fits. Why? Friday, March 12, 2010. 160;I just...
Dena's Writing Desk: August 2010
http://denaswritingdesk.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Just a little journey in writing. Saturday, August 28, 2010. It's been a long time! It's been a long time since I've posted. I'll be honest and say, I haven't thought much about writing lately; my life has been consumed with other things. I really need to put some energy into this, but I don't know where I'll find that energy right now. I'll let you know if something occurs to me. When I finish at least the second 2, I'll write what I think about them. Hopefully before October. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Just a little journey in writing. Monday, January 25, 2010. Add some mystery to life. I'm planning of doing this most recent game with my female students, and I'm sure they'll have a blast.well, I will at any rate. The one bummer for me is that I don't actually get to participate in the night as a suspect. I usually oversee the production and guide the participants. . I just need to find a way to market this! Thursday, January 21, 2010. Sloshing through the mud. 160;It seems nothing more than an illusi...

notes from roadside
Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Whitefish, MT - Spokane, WA. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. The drive was long and beautiful. If I ever make it back there again, I need to buy this. Hours later, I found the longest train I will probably ever see. Occasionally as I drive, I'll find a sign for some random monument, town, or god knows what else. Sometimes I ignore them, sometimes I go after them, can't find them and move on, and other times, I find places like Wallace, ID. Look at this sh-t! Soooo, I called the cops back...
