Friday, January 15, 2010. How a Lose-Win Strategy Can Help You Win Customers}. In the classical business model, we all say we want a win-win relationship. But is there such thing as a true win-win relationship? Isn’t there always an ending where one party feels that he/she could have gotten more? But traditional marketers and operators as well finance team in organizations reject the concept of lose-win immediately. A SIMPLE LOSE-WIN IDEA. WHY THE IDEA IS BRILLIANT. My personal opinion, of course). So no...

The ZenMango Blog: {Operations Focused Marketing: A Marperations First?}

Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Operations Focused Marketing: A Marperations First? Ever since the inception of the Marperations concept, I have been searching for examples where operations completely defines a brand and marketing simply must reflect the differentiated operations. Last weekend I found an example where I would have least expected it. First he poured some hot water into the coffee pot, and then he ground some fresh coffee beans, fresh just for me. After that he poured the ground coffee in th...

Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Happy Team Members Make Happy Customers }. In one of my early projects in the corporate world, I built a team member satisfaction measuring tool for the company I was working for. As I built the questionnaire, I covered all areas from hiring to training, from on the job satisfaction to the role of the supervisor and compensation. The front line team members. Wow! I realized we had information that would allow us to favorably influence the guest experience. Solution: Within thre...

The Waddling Kitchen: Death:Expound.
http://wkitchen.blogspot.com/2010/05/deathexpound.html
The food wing of Waddling Thunder. This New York Times article on the examination system at All Soul's college, Oxford. Cheered me up rather a lot by reminding of some very happy times back at St. Andrews. What's funny is that St. Andrew's failures are similar to my own. Am I as detail oriented as I ought to be, given where I work and what I do? Nope Should I have been driven harder in college, rather than allowed to discover the wonders of discussing varieties of gingerbread with my friends?

The food wing of Waddling Thunder. A few notes from my weekend cookery. I tried the ginger scallion sauce from the Momofuku cookbook, a deceptively simple combination of oil, ginger, scallion, and other flavorings. Although it was good, and probably would have been very good with enough ginger (I used about 2 tablespoons instead of half a cup, as suggested), I think the interesting contrast here is with Mark Bittman's pad thai recipe,. The pineapple upside down cake in the ad hoc. What I'm Eating Today.

The food wing of Waddling Thunder. Pulinio's Bar and Pizzeria. I've been sort of infatuated with San Francisco since my visit a little more than a year ago, and so when I heard that the city's famed young farm to table "rock star" Nate Appleman was opening a restaurant here in New York, I was excited to visit. And Pulino's. In roughly the following proportions. Cumin seeds (1 second of pouring). 1/2 scotch bonnet, no seeds. Thumb sized knob of ginger. 1 tablespoon of curry powder. It occurred to me that...

Life is a Funny, Crazy, Deep, and Meaningful Thing: Making plans
http://lamandagail.blogspot.com/2010/02/making-plans.html
Life is a Funny, Crazy, Deep, and Meaningful Thing. Tuesday, February 23, 2010. I have been inspired! I recently had a very successful experience in doing a commissioned knitting project for a friend of mine. I knit her a lovely scarf! I have also been browsing through a very cool site called artfire.com, which is a site that allows you to set up an online store for free. I think I am going to do it!
