One Teacher's Adventures: December 2015

http://oneteachersadventures.blogspot.com/2015_12_01_archive.html

My thoughts, ideas, and adventures while teaching K-12. Saturday, 5 December 2015. Using Disney's "Inside Out" With Middle Schoolers. I love Disney movies! My first memory of going to see a movie in the theatre was with my mom and sister when I was about 3 to see The Little Mermaid. Since then, I've been hooked. I still go to see Disney movies with my sister when they come out in the theatre, but now we also take her 5-year old son (most of the time). When I saw "Inside Out" this summer, I loved it!

One Teacher's Adventures: Family Photo Shoot on the Windiest Day of the Year!

http://oneteachersadventures.blogspot.com/2016/09/family-photo-shoot-on-windiest-day-of.html

My thoughts, ideas, and adventures while teaching K-12. Saturday, 24 September 2016. Family Photo Shoot on the Windiest Day of the Year! This year for Mother's Day, my siblings and I got my mom a family photo shoot. We haven't had family photos taken with everyone since my grandparents' 50th wedding anniversary 8 years ago. My nieces and nephew weren't alive yet, so we needed updated versions! As I kept reminding my mom, it just made the photos look more whimsical :). Here are some of my favourite shots.

My thoughts, ideas, and adventures while teaching K-12. Sunday, 25 October 2015. Grade 8 Animal Cell Models. Over the past couple weeks, my Grade 8 Science students have been learning about the structures of plant and animal cells. The culminating project for this topic was to create a 3-D model of an animal cell, highlighting the organelles that can be seen with an electron microscope. For each organelle, the students needed to create something that looked accurate, and needed to label each structure.

Your Ideas, Thoughts, and Suggestions. Welcome to One Teacher at a Time! One Teacher at a Time. Our goal is simple: To create teaching success stories. One teacher at a time. During the next few months we plan to lay the groundwork for an "underground" network of teachers who will seize control of their own situation and will become efficacious agents of change. Ultimately we want to offer not just support but also the resources, training, renewal, and community to accomplish our shared vision.

You better Belize it!

You better Belize it! Wednesday, April 29, 2009. Well this is my last post on this blog. I am now officially home. I have to say that it was sad to go. I have been back for about 30 hours and am still acclimating to being home. Waking up in my own bed was surreal, like waking from a wonderful dream. Belize was a dream, the experience of a lifetime. On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Dr. Kubasko. Development after school with the teachers. This was one of the things they were really looking forward. An as...

One Teacher's Journey

Sunday, March 8, 2009. Wellit has been quite a week. Quite an emotional week. For those of you that teach, you understand the friendships that we develop as we teach side by side with each other. I have found that my school is a bit different.different in a great way. We really are a very tight staff. Not only are we close to those we teach with at our grade level, but each staff member. This pneumonia just won't go away. Well, his mother noticed his belly was a bit swollen, so she took him in to see...

Method in the Madness | Because the course of teaching never did run smooth

Method in the Madness. Because the course of teaching never did run smooth. A Teaching Couple’s Experience at an International Job Fair. My husband (a Physics teacher) and I recently returned from an international job fair. We were fortunate to come out of the experience with new jobs and many positive experiences, but the process is so intense that I’d be happy not to go through it again anytime soon. What our job search looked like behind the scenes. With a healthy dose of cynicism). We looked for chur...

One Teacher's Perspective

Saturday, November 4, 2017. The Air Still Stinks. After a trail race last winter, I gagged entering a park restroom serving as a makeshift locker room for sweaty, muddy runners. 8220;It smells like crap in here,” I complained as I contemplated an immediate exit. However, with freezing temperatures outside, I had no choice but to endure the stench. Trying to ignore my odor-induced nausea, I cornered some space for my backpack and quickly got to work cleaning up. Walker’s wind has brought in an air o...

One Teacher's Take... is Another's Treasure!

Thursday, August 6, 2015. Made it Monday, but Posting Thursday! So here's my take…. Lucky me doesn't have to report back until August 31st,. So I am busy creating things for my classroom! I wanted a subway art sign for all to see when they enter my classroom. I found the right saying, but not the right design for me,. I had to make my own! I love the bright colors and the dots! As soon as I made it I had to put it up! I will have the poster in my TpT store if you would like one for your room. From Montgo...
