Our Italian Dream

Friday, August 14, 2015. Naples - a great city worth a visit. Naples is an amazing city. Not to be missed. We travelled to Naples in Summer so it was hot. But we always felt safe and thoroughly enjoyed the diversity the city has to offer. With almost 4 million inhabitants it is one of the largest cities in Europe and indeed one of the oldest continual inhabited cities dating back to 200BC. It has a flourishing port with many international cruise liners docking in the port. Links to this post. Beach volle...

Our Italian Dream: Monte Oliveto, Benedict Abbey, Southern Tuscany, Italy

http://ouritaliandream-featherbybol.blogspot.com/2013/10/monte-oliveto-benedict-abbey-southern.html

Thursday, October 10, 2013. Monte Oliveto, Benedict Abbey, Southern Tuscany, Italy. Monte Oliveto is a working abbey 20 minute north east of Montalcino and 30 minutes south west of Siena. This is one of the treasures of southern Tuscany and should not be missed. At the entrance to the Monastry grounds. Looking through the entrance. The road down to the Abbey. The old fish pond. The Abbey is endowed with many beautiful fresco's on the life of Benedict. The Church of the Abbey. Positano, Amalfi Coast, Italy.

Our Italian Dream: March 2012

Sunday, March 4, 2012. The rose sellers of Rome. Okay, I have an infatuation with the rose sellers of Rome. Usually found in Piazza di Spagna or Piazza del Popolo they have a unique and quite often successful sales technique. Firstly with roses in hand they will select a couple and target the female. With rose extended they will offer a rose to her. If she initially decides not to take it they will then say "a gift for you". They will continue this tack of giving it to her as a gift. An affair with Italy.

Sunday, January 15, 2012. Our top ten places in Rome. After living in Rome for one year, many people ask us for our "Top 10" things to do and see in Rome. Well, Rome is such a wonderful and diverse city we could go on and on with suggestions. So here is our Top 10 - they are in no particular order but reflect the places we love in Rome. It is so easy to blend in and just feel like you belong to Rome! Not far from the Piazza are these amazing hanging vines in Via Panisperna. 2 Piazza delle Pace. This is o...

The Crockfords invite you to share our Italian Adventure! Sunday, June 21, 2009. Once again. Long Islanders behaving badly. Tiger Woods taunted at 10th hole; Fred Funk's name becomes obscenity - Newsday.com. Beer-sodden fans and rain combined for an ugly finish to a long day of golf yesterday, with Tiger Woods. Our Italian Adventure

Friday, 1 June 2012. Just to say on my final post, we had some wonderful wines on our trip, from Brunello di Montalcino, Montefalco Sagrantino, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Motelfalco Passito. We brought 12 bottles back with us right through to the States then onto Antigua in the Caribbean all safe and sound. You may ask how? Well this would be the reason, loved it. A great find and 12 bottles are less than 50lbs for check in on your flight. Http:/ www.thewinecheck.com/. Our wine and EVOO. We strolle...

Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Summer Living Room in the basement. Finally it is finished! Then we hung the mirrors and the picture and spent the rest of the evening admiring our handiwork. On Wednesday we took a day off and went to the beach. We had beautiful weather, around 28°C (80-85°F). Then we went to Orsogna to buy supply of wine for return trip. After all, we had an empty van for return! Thursday we worked all day in the garden and cleaned, ready to close the house till next spring! View to the door.

Just another WordPress.com site. Final Friday and Farewell. May 30, 2014. We’ve been economizing all week by eating lunches out and dinners in, but we made a reservation at a nice restaurant for our final dinner. After lunch, we sunned by the pool again and read for a while. Then it was time to shower and dress for the big dinner. More like big mistake! Mom’s after dinner face says it best. Tomorrow we leave for the airport at 7am and hope to be home by 9pm if all goes as planned. We bid adieu to our...
