A Patchwork Pastiche

Monday, December 01, 2008. Another Thanksgiving has come and gone. I've been reading various blogs and I've read some lovely accounts of how people spent the holiday. Extraordinary food. Lovely tables. Beautiful homes. Family and friends. Very pleasant reading indeed. Not exactly how I'd describe the day around here though. As is the custom, we had Thanksgiving at my house. My parents came and all of my girls were there, along with one of the boyfriends. So the family and friend thing? Maybe not so much.

A Patchwork Pastiche: Election Day

http://patchworkpastiche.blogspot.com/2008/11/election-day.html

Tuesday, November 04, 2008. It's been a long, tough slog through the muck, hasn't it? My mother, the erstwhile politics junkie (as long as it's all about the Democrats, of course) was overheard sighing at dinner Sunday and saying, "You know what I'm looking forward to? I think it's a sentiment that many of us could wholeheartedly agree with. I hope we all take a moment tomorrow and make our voices heard. Not only is our country worth that effort, so are we. Becca's comment made me laugh out loud. I've ju...

Saturday, April 28, 2007. Updates, Information and Other Fascinating Tidbits. S is still wearing the sleeveless shirt to our weekly get-together with friends. Still starting buttoned. Still ending up unbuttoned over a, sadly now stained, white sleeveless t-shirt. We're thinking that a CB radio should be her next gift to help prepare her for her future career. The Curse of the Golden Flower. People simply drawn up in the web of fate and unable to change their lives? The Last King of Scotland. By Elizabeth...

A Patchwork Pastiche: Growing Up Fast

http://patchworkpastiche.blogspot.com/2008/10/growing-up-fast.html

Tuesday, October 28, 2008. As I've mentioned before, my youngest daughter will be twelve very soon. The babies of the family? Well, let's just say if they swept into their first grade classroom wearing a smoking jacket, swilling a martini, and magnanimously offering dating advice gained from watching elder siblings, no one would be surprised. I know all of this. I also know my daughter. That's why it's a bit of a puzzle how thrown I was by my "baby" this weekend. Growing up a bit too fast? Oh Mary, LOL!

A Patchwork Pastiche: Excess? You Decide

http://patchworkpastiche.blogspot.com/2008/10/excess-you-decide.html

Sunday, October 19, 2008. Most of the time I'm pretty content with the stage of life that I'm at. Fairly comfortable with being a woman of a "certain age" with the responsibilities I've maintained for over 20 years. Sure, there's a pang or two of nostalgia when the older girls (24 and 19) discuss exciting early adulthood experiences, but nothing terribly painful. Most of the time. Now many of you might be saying: "Twenty-five pairs? But wait. There's more. Seriously. I'm so not kidding. Funny- I was just...

Zodiac Movie Review | The Dauntless Muse

https://influencebad.wordpress.com/2007/03/08/zodiac-movie-review

March 8, 2007} Zodiac Movie Review. Out of * *. Premise: True crime. In the late sixties and early/mid seventies a serial killer roamed around the San Francisco Bay area. He sends letters and codes to the newspapers, taunting letters, demanding that his letters be published. Police and a determined newspaper cartoonist desperately try to find the killer and bring him to justice. My one complaint about this movie is it’s length. No, it wasn’t that I thought it was too long as in it needed ...You are comme...

February 27, 2007} The Aftermath. The rented facility was decorated beautifully, with tables laid out in the departed’s favorite colors, soft music (mostly classic rock) playing, white lights on the ceiling, gorgeous flowers, and a table with candles burning, a small shrine to the Virgin Mary, charms, a sign that said “Hippies use side door”, and other items of the departed’s. It really felt like. The people who set up did a wonderful job. That’s how I try to respect and honor her memory the most, ...

February 24, 2007} Ghost Rider Movie Review. Out of * *. This was the first movie I saw on my four day weekend last week, and it was by far my favorite. I mean, it’s Ghost Rider. Do I even need to saw any more? This is obviously not a movie that the critics are going to love. Or even like. But for those who get a kick out of cheesy action movies, like special effects, or are comic book geeks, this movie will satisfy. I gave it three stars not because it’s a. February 24, 2007} Things I have learned since bring Stella home. 1 Kitty (a.k.a. Stella) thinks that hands and feet and faces are fun toys. 2 Kitty also thinks that earrings (when they are attached to ears) are fun toys. 3 Kitty’s favorite game involves waiting until Rebecca is asleep, crouching on her windowsill, then jumping on her face (Rebecca has since started spraying kitty with water from a squirt bottle every time she gets on that window sill, because that is. 10 Kitty is a demon. 12 Kitty think...

I seriously dislike writing “about me” stuff, but here it goes:. My name is Rebecca. I’m 22. I’m fiercely independant, I think the worst way to die is to be eaten by zombies, I’m afraid of brazilian wandering spiders, my very favorite thing to do is go to concerts (expecially metal shows in small venues), and I hate reality TV. I’m a geek who loves video games, board games, Dungeons and Dragons, and comic books. In fact, I used to want to be a comic book artist. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Get a free blo...

Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path.
