About a patchwork path. In print: national geographic traveller. Posted by Jennifer Davidson. These are just a few of the things that I love: Latin America, photography, travel, nature, and culture. They all came together for an article I recently did for National Geographic Traveller (UK). For the rest of you, here’s a peek at the layout. The cost of what is lost (in translation). About a patchwork path. Newer posts →. Posted by Jennifer Davidson. In Ciénaga’s commercial district, people busily travel via motor cycles and ciclotaxis. In the poorer barrios outside of Ciénaga, homes are made of many types of salvaged materials. A team of eye doctors, including Joe Fammartino (center), have come to Colombia for the past two decades to give aid in the area of eye health with Medical Ministry International. For many, new glasses provide the help that people needed to see better. For ot...

About a patchwork path. In print: national geographic traveller →. The cost of what is lost (in translation). Posted by Jennifer Davidson. When was the last time you thought about language? Is very important but will only get you so far. (Though I have seen how stumbling through Happy New Year in Vietnamese before Tet is sure to bring a smile to local faces. Small efforts almost always bring great rewards.) Yes, a certain level of misunderstanding is to be expected in travel. While none of us are immune,...

About a patchwork path. The cost of what is lost (in translation) →. Posted by Jennifer Davidson. Thick clouds hung low over the canopy at sunrise but did not diminish the view from the observation tower. It’s not easy to get to the Yasuní National Park in northeastern Ecuador. Usually it takes 8 hours to drive from Quito to Pompeya, take a water taxi across the Napo River, and drive the final hour and a half down a mostly unpaved road to the Estación Científica Yasuní. Squirrel monkeys (locally called p...

October 27, 2015. Friends and neighbors enjoy the final leg of a long journey home. May 26, 2015. Looking back through my pictures from the last several years, I've found that my photography has slowly become more minimalist. Simple and less cluttered. This begs the question. Is my visual aesthetic helping to shape the rest of my life? Or has my recent reading on minimalism helped me to see different ideas coming through in my photos? Further reading on living a simpler life : mnmlist. March 25, 2015.

A Patchwork Pastiche
Monday, December 01, 2008. Another Thanksgiving has come and gone. I've been reading various blogs and I've read some lovely accounts of how people spent the holiday. Extraordinary food. Lovely tables. Beautiful homes. Family and friends. Very pleasant reading indeed. Not exactly how I'd describe the day around here though. As is the custom, we had Thanksgiving at my house. My parents came and all of my girls were there, along with one of the boyfriends. So the family and friend thing? Maybe not so much.
The Patchwork Path - Home
Every day you may make progress. Every step may be fruitful. Yet there will stretch out before you an ever-lengthening, ever-ascending, ever-improving path. You know you will never get to the end of the journey. But this, so far from discouraging, only adds to the joy and glory of the climb. - Winston Churchill. There's a saying: "We may not have it all together; but together, we have it all.". I also have sparks of brilliance, moments of genius ( moments. All of us walk paths in life that are a patchwor...
