Whine, whine, go away. Being sick and pregnant is not the most fun thing in the world. I can't take anything for it. I just have to go through box after box of tissues and whine a lot. Heh. I'm not very good at being sick. I went out and got some chicken soup from the Jewish deli today. Yum. If I could taste it. What do you do with that stuff? What do you do with that stuff? I don't really want to throw a lot of it away, but I don't know where to put it. I went out and bought some large plastic bins to put all my large art supplies in, which will be stored in the basement. But the rest of it? Oh, and I'm presenting at a conference on Friday, which I've never done before. Yikes! It's on something I could talk about in my sleep, though, so I think it will be fine. In need of a life-maintenance assistant. Breakfasts: egg sandwich: egg beaters w/ spinach and tomatoes on Flat Round, yogurt. Mid-morning snacks: smoothie w/ blackberries and/or peaches. Lunches: 1) vegetarian chili over top red skin potatoes plus green beans w/vinaigrette dressing, or 2) quinoa salad w/ roasted veg and tofu: beets, carrots, turnips, tofu, sesame dressing. Afternoon snacks: ½ banana plus mixed nuts. Monday: chicken ropa vieja, corn on the cob, roasted asparagus. I feel a fight coming on.

Breakfasts: old fashioned oatmeal made with milk and reduced-sugar apricot preserves. Mid-morning snacks: Greek yogurt with frozen raspberries, or grapefruit. Lunches: Sprouted whole grain multigrain toast with sliced apples and melted cheddar, strawberries OR spinach salad with artichoke hearts, carrots, cherry tomatoes, etc with an orange. As good as it's going to get. We also never had a sump pump before, either. We picked up a small one yesterday (it was all they had left), and a bucket (for what, I don't know, but I felt like we should have another bucket), and duct tape, in case all else fails. I'm sure we could do something with duct tape, right? That would keep the hurricane out? Maybe I should go put duct tape over all the cracks in the basement. :). I recently bought the Thug Kitchen cookbook and came across a recipe for pumpkin chili and given my love of chili I knew I had to try it and I was not disappointed, it was delicious and super easy to make. I made a few minor adjustments and topped mine with avocado, radishes, sunflower seeds, and cornbread. I hope you like it as much as I did. Enjoy and stay warm! Pumpkin Chili (adapted from Thug Kitchen). Serves 4 to 6 people. Author PB and Spinach. 1 yellow onion, chopped. 2 carrots, peeled and chopped.
