Life (in Someplace Else): August 2006
http://lifeinsomeplaceelse.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Though the words we speak are banal, not one of them's a lie. Sunday, August 27, 2006. Perhaps I am an engineer and I didn't know it, but I've read and loved nearly all the works on this list. Two people were rescued from cars and even now, 8 or so hours after the storm, the water is still pouring through the wash. Here are some other photos. From the local paper.

You pay a fixed amount in advance to a local farm, and then for a specified number of weeks, you get a box of whatever was harvested that week. So fresh, local, often organic (mine is, yay! Dr. Moonbeam: What makes it worthwhile
http://drmoonbeam.blogspot.com/2007/04/what-makes-it-worthwhile.html
Tuesday, April 24, 2007. What makes it worthwhile. I was honored by the History Club, the undergraduate group in my department, at our annual departmental banquet last Friday; they chose me as the Professor of the Year. I was surprised and pleased and very touched. Sometimes it's hard to remember that all the work isn't wholly unappreciated, after all. That is a wonderful honor and it has to make all of the hard work seem more worthwhile! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Bloggy Friends and Family.

Dr. Moonbeam: November 2006
http://drmoonbeam.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 13, 2006. Winding down the semester. It's the week before Thanksgiving, unbelievably. Which means four more weeks of classes, and then finals week. Ack! Where did the time disappear to! Sighs* I'll manage, of course, but suddenly my schedule seems far busier than I would like! Links to this post. Friday, November 3, 2006. You paid attention during 100% of high school! 85-100% You must be an autodidact, because American high schools don't get scores that high! Good show, old chap! I'm a 3...

Invisible Things | Blogenspiel
https://anotherdamnedmedievalist.wordpress.com/2014/12/22/invisible-things
Another damned medievalist delivers her spiel. 22 December, 2014. It appears I have forgotten how to blog. I also have a paper draft ostensibly due tomorrow, and I have every kind of mental block going. I’ve got three blog post drafts, too, all unfinished. So now, I am writing, to prove that I can. Still. Write. Over the last few months about depression and the effects of stress on academics. But what if it’s not easy? New can of worms, that is. I’ve got no real conclusion here. It’s just...Super-late no...

Rereading fic... - Celandine's Chronicle
http://celandineb.livejournal.com/1294279.html
I'm rereading various of my own (and cowritten) old fics, more or less at random. It's rather weird. I don't remember what happens in many of them, so it's almost like reading someone else's stuff, except that the style does still feel familiar. However it's getting on for midnight and I had a pretty busy day (laundry, grocery shopping, lots of cooking) so probably I ought to go to bed now. *yawns*. 14th-Jul-2015 02:26 am (UTC). I feel the same way when I re-read old stuff. It's like, "I wrote that?

Celandine's Chronicle
http://celandineb.livejournal.com/tag/vacation
I got back from vacation on Sunday, actually, but as tends to happen, the pile-up of work during an extended absence has kept me very very busy all week, exacerbated by the fact that our new students arrive shortly and next week will be full of orientation events, then on to the semester. I'm tired just thinking about it. Hoping that everyone else is having a good end-of-summer (or for those in the southern parts of the world, end-of-winter)! See you all on the flip side. So very ready to leave. Overall,...

in favor of thinking: January 2007
http://infavorofthinking.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html
In favor of thinking. If I were the Emperor of everything. Three simple rules that would have improved this week, were they followed:. 1) No meeting should be three hours long. Ever. 2) Faculty who don't come to any of the job talks, job candidate interviews, or faculty get-togethers should not be allowed to pontificate in the hiring meeting about candidates they never met. They shouldn't be allowed to vote either. 3) Mel should get 8 hours of sleep every night. Or at least seven. What not to write.
