Quiltin' Library Lady

Sunday, August 9, 2015. A Very Humid Sunday And Then. The storms started up. The first one roared through quickly with just rain and wind. The most damage was a tree blown down into the street near a neighbor's house. The next one that came through about three hours later was the one that hurt. Heavy rain pouring down and lots of hail.some pretty big. We found some bigger ones later after it quit raining. The rainbow after the storm. Once it quit raining we walked out to look at the garden. Not pretty.

Quiltin' Library Lady: AC is humming....

http://quiltinlibrarylady.blogspot.com/2015/06/ac-is-humming.html

Sunday, June 21, 2015. We have window ACs and while I get tired of the noise, I'm glad to have them when the weather turns to Summer. The sun was already getting hot when I went out for a walk around 10:30-10:45. Perfect in the shade then, but warming up. This afternoon I think I will do some cutting-marking-sewing on some more of these:. June 22, 2015 at 7:26 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Picture Window template. Quiltin' Library Lady: May Catch-Up

http://quiltinlibrarylady.blogspot.com/2015/05/may-catch-up.html

Tuesday, May 19, 2015. I think I've hit my stride.about one post a month. :) Where to start? The library used book sale ended on May 2. Lots of work setting up and taking down. Boxes of books are HEAVY. One of the qualifications to be a librarian is to be able to heft 35-40 pound boxes of books :) We didn't get rich but sold quite a few books. There are still a few to dispose of. Sunday I cut strips for a patriotic Jelly Roll Race quilt and sewed it together this afternoon, then cut squares for making a ...

Quiltin' Library Lady: Big Finish For The Month!

http://quiltinlibrarylady.blogspot.com/2015/07/big-finish-for-month.html

Friday, July 17, 2015. Big Finish For The Month! Yep, here's my big finish for the month:. A mug rug made using last month's quilt club English piecing project. My sewing machine was being cranky when I was putting this together so it's certainly not my best work, but good enough to set a cup of coffee on. Maybe the machine didn't like the batiks or the thickness or the iron-on fleece.who knows. July 17, 2015 at 9:28 PM. Lovely hexie flower, and perfect for coffee cups. July 22, 2015 at 7:39 AM.

Quiltin' Library Lady: Happy National Quilting Day!

http://quiltinlibrarylady.blogspot.com/2015/03/happy-national-quilting-day.html

Saturday, March 21, 2015. Happy National Quilting Day! I didn't even realize this was National Quilting Day until I started reading Facebook after I got home from work this afternoon! This is a picture of the latest quilt I quilted. There were some challenges, but it came out OK in the end. Anyone know the name of the pattern? March 22, 2015 at 4:40 PM. Oh my goodness that reminds me of the toy kaleidoscopes we played with as kids. Blog) RVing: The USA Is Our Big Backyard. Happy National Quilting Day!

Waiting on the A/C Guy — Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

http://www.patchworktimes.com/2015/08/11/waiting-on-the-ac-guy

Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara. Sharing the Good Life. Waiting on the A/C Guy. August 11, 2015. My question of the day is this: Will anyone get through this summer with a visit from the a/c guy? Seems like everyone I talk to has had to have a/c repairs. Our house is almost 9 years old and we never seem to have an a/c unit that lasts more than 10 years so I asked Vince the other day . . can we please replace this unit this winter before it goes? The a/c lady told me the repair guy would be here first t...

http://charlotte-charlottesweblog.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Sunday, February 22, 2009. A Very Busy January. I hit the ground running in January. I was hopeful that with the holidays over my schedule would ease up some but so far that hasn't happened. Then my immediate family gathered for snacks and a game of Tripoley. January 11 quilt group met for our Christmas party. We meet in January for a more relaxed get-together - the rush of the holidays is over and we don...

Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Updates and a Correction. Cassie got a new dresser (well, new to her). It's of a style that I love with a mirror and is the perfect size for her. I found it at an antique shop for a very reasonable price (have you priced new furniture? Cassie's comment was, "Thank you for my new mirror Mommy." I knew that would be her favorite part. I no longer have an orange porch. Adoption of Daught...

http://charlotte-charlottesweblog.blogspot.com/2009/12/eventful-day.html

Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Friday, December 18, 2009. This was a hoppin' day. The icemaker died so Mark stayed home to meet the repairman from Schaefer's. We got the usual "he'll be there between 8:30 and 12:30" timeframe. The guy arrived at 10:30, made his diagnosis, replaced the unit, and was gone. A 10-min service call. $230. My feet are killing me, but only have a few stocking stuffers left to pick up and the shopping is done. ...

Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Thursday, March 27, 2008. Cassie and I hit Gateway tonight to find me a red hat. My Red Hat group is gathering this Saturday and I need to upgrade from pink to red. I found one I liked, but not for $58. So, instead, we spent our time trying on various hats and taking photos of each other. We'll try again tomorrow night at southeast Wal-Mart or Goodwill. Links to this post. Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Not bad for a six-year-old. This year I didn't have time to bake a chocolate cake and get ice cream, so I decided to combine the two and try the Cookies and Cream Concrete Cake from Culver's. I brought along the Red Hat balloon from my Red Hat celebration, and used that as the centerpiece for this party. Like the plates? Aged to Perfection" - can 'ya tell I chose them myself? Kathy J&...

Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Saturday, November 28, 2009. I got dragged into Black Friday and ended up enjoying myself. Even worse, Cassie and I are planning to go next year as well! Brother Scott convinced Cassie she HAD to attend BF at "his" Target (56th and Hwy 2). She was all excited about it and asked me if we could participate. She thought we should go at 5am. Ha! We had a blast! Amazingly, I can't wait until next year! Mark's mom ...

Henriettas Other Hat: April 2013

http://henriettas-other-hat.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 26, 2013. So many names for one tree, Melia azedarach. Is a member of the mahogany family;. And it is called Inia in Hawaii. Inia is comfortable in USDA Zones 7 through 11, it is both deciduous and will tolerate an occasional hard freeze. Although it is fairly short lived it is a good shade tree. The flowers have quite a strong fragrance. Everybody's sense of smell is different but to me it smells like Buddleia. Which also has a lot of names. Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Flowers form, many fl...

Henriettas Other Hat: May 2012

http://henriettas-other-hat.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 16, 2012. One of the things which attracted me to this house when I bought it was the front porch. I do love a porch! Not just because of the 'cottage with a porch and a picket fence' concept, which is quite charming all by itself, but there are practical considerations too. A porch can help cool a house in summer, providing a shady semi-outdoor living space. In winter it keeps snow and rain off the entry, which is nice while you are fumbling for keys. Tuesday, May 15, 2012. The willow, wh...

Quiltin' Kaboodle | Let's Create Together

Let's Create Together. El’s Kitchen #2. March 28, 2015. This is El’s Kitchen #2 (Carol’s quilt). The real challenge with this quilt was to be sure the quilting was different but with the same quality. A couple of the blocks just couldn’t be changed much at all but most of them were open for alternate quilting designs. Here are the blocks, see what you think. The center basket block was challenging, so instead of straight lines in the background I used little wiggly lines. I like how it turned out. So the...

Saturday, July 11, 2015. I have joined a "quilt along" with some friends. This is week two of the quilt along. It is called the Twisted Blossom from Sew Kind of Wonderful. The Quilting Librarian | Welcome to my world

Welcome to my world. Literacy in a Digital Age. Writing ‘Bout Reading. Gardening in Glen Allen. July 18, 2014. It all started quite innocently with a run to a local nursery that was clearing out begonias and geraniums for $1 each. We’ve spent several days fighting the grass that had taken over the planting beds, and I wanted to celebrate by planting something cheerful. From there I moved on to the sad-looking butterfly bush that doesn’t appear to have been cut back in years. Yes, I Am Still Quilting.
