Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara. Sharing the Good Life. Waiting on the A/C Guy. August 11, 2015. My question of the day is this: Will anyone get through this summer with a visit from the a/c guy? Seems like everyone I talk to has had to have a/c repairs. Our house is almost 9 years old and we never seem to have an a/c unit that lasts more than 10 years so I asked Vince the other day . . can we please replace this unit this winter before it goes? The a/c lady told me the repair guy would be here first t...

Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Sunday, February 22, 2009. A Very Busy January. I hit the ground running in January. I was hopeful that with the holidays over my schedule would ease up some but so far that hasn't happened. Then my immediate family gathered for snacks and a game of Tripoley. January 11 quilt group met for our Christmas party. We meet in January for a more relaxed get-together - the rush of the holidays is over and we don...

Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Wednesday, July 9, 2008. Updates and a Correction. Cassie got a new dresser (well, new to her). It's of a style that I love with a mirror and is the perfect size for her. I found it at an antique shop for a very reasonable price (have you priced new furniture? Cassie's comment was, "Thank you for my new mirror Mommy." I knew that would be her favorite part. I no longer have an orange porch. Adoption of Daught...

Charlotte's Web(log): An Eventful Day
http://charlotte-charlottesweblog.blogspot.com/2009/12/eventful-day.html
Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Friday, December 18, 2009. This was a hoppin' day. The icemaker died so Mark stayed home to meet the repairman from Schaefer's. We got the usual "he'll be there between 8:30 and 12:30" timeframe. The guy arrived at 10:30, made his diagnosis, replaced the unit, and was gone. A 10-min service call. $230. My feet are killing me, but only have a few stocking stuffers left to pick up and the shopping is done. ...

Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Thursday, March 27, 2008. Cassie and I hit Gateway tonight to find me a red hat. My Red Hat group is gathering this Saturday and I need to upgrade from pink to red. I found one I liked, but not for $58. So, instead, we spent our time trying on various hats and taking photos of each other. We'll try again tomorrow night at southeast Wal-Mart or Goodwill. Links to this post. Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Make Your...

Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Tuesday, April 29, 2008. Not bad for a six-year-old. This year I didn't have time to bake a chocolate cake and get ice cream, so I decided to combine the two and try the Cookies and Cream Concrete Cake from Culver's. I brought along the Red Hat balloon from my Red Hat celebration, and used that as the centerpiece for this party. Like the plates? Aged to Perfection" - can 'ya tell I chose them myself? Kathy J&...

Keeping family and friends informed since April, 2007 (or, too lazy to email everyone directly). Saturday, November 28, 2009. I got dragged into Black Friday and ended up enjoying myself. Even worse, Cassie and I are planning to go next year as well! Brother Scott convinced Cassie she HAD to attend BF at "his" Target (56th and Hwy 2). She was all excited about it and asked me if we could participate. She thought we should go at 5am. Ha! We had a blast! Amazingly, I can't wait until next year! Mark's mom ...

Henriettas Other Hat: April 2013
http://henriettas-other-hat.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 26, 2013. So many names for one tree, Melia azedarach. Is a member of the mahogany family;. And it is called Inia in Hawaii. Inia is comfortable in USDA Zones 7 through 11, it is both deciduous and will tolerate an occasional hard freeze. Although it is fairly short lived it is a good shade tree. The flowers have quite a strong fragrance. Everybody's sense of smell is different but to me it smells like Buddleia. Which also has a lot of names. Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Flowers form, many fl...

Henriettas Other Hat: May 2012
http://henriettas-other-hat.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 16, 2012. One of the things which attracted me to this house when I bought it was the front porch. I do love a porch! Not just because of the 'cottage with a porch and a picket fence' concept, which is quite charming all by itself, but there are practical considerations too. A porch can help cool a house in summer, providing a shady semi-outdoor living space. In winter it keeps snow and rain off the entry, which is nice while you are fumbling for keys. Tuesday, May 15, 2012. The willow, wh...
