I had the privilege of teaching the high schoolers this morning in Sunday School. The lesson was on Cain and Abel, Genesis 4:1-16. Even though this is an old story that happened many years ago, there are some very good lessons that can be learned from studying it. First of all, why did God not like Cain’s offering? When I was a young boy and used to hear this story, I thought God was being a little tough on Cain. Was God displeased because He did not like fruit and vegetables? Why are we selfish today?

Unity in the Body of Christ. Last weekend was rivalry weekend in college football. Here in South Carolina, the biggest rivalry game for most of us was the Clemson – South Carolina game. For the most part, the Carolina fans hate Clemson and Clemson fans hate Carolina. Clemson fans will pull for whoever Carolina is playing and Carolina fans pull for whoever Clemson is playing. It is a heated rivalry and goes back over 100 years. And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ?
