The Adventures of Kurt and Katie Braun while sailing the world aboard the yacht Interlude. Our Mission: To boldly go until we are no more! The Vessel: 1986 Deerfoot 74 Pilothouse Cutter. Sunday, October 21, 2012. The weather fax shows two possible cyclone formation areas within the next 48 hours: One similar to where Rafael started (the storm that threatened us briefly in the BVI) and one just north of us. Looks like we got down here just in time. Kurt and Katie Braun. Saturday, October 20, 2012. Today i...

SAILING MOONSHADOW: Stowaways
http://saillegacy.blogspot.com/p/stowaways.html
We've had a few guests aboard for fun visits, but some of our guests have been uninvited. Here is a collection of our stowaways (to enlarge, click on photo):. While in the Riverbend Shipyard in Ft. Lauderdale, we noticed a lizard, which we were glad to have aboard as they eat insects. We lost track of him until seen later here in the engine room. In the cockpit, while at St. Simon Island, Georgia. We don't know how he came aboard, but we do know how he left! In Saint Lucia, Freddy the Freeloader. We retu...
SAILING MOONSHADOW: April 2012
http://saillegacy.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 30, 2012. Who pissed off the weatherman? This is the rain as seen from the weather radar on the internet. This is what the rain looks like from Moonshadow's radar. This is what the rain looks like from Moonshadow's cockpit. Ok, it's not exotic, but this is the cruising life for us for the next week or two, while we bet on the "now" side of the "pay-me-now or pay-me-later" boat maintenance proposition. Nice that we're getting all this crappy weather out of the way while we're at it! Ours are...
SAILING MOONSHADOW: March 2012
http://saillegacy.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 29, 2012. After our new dear friends George and Merima had a tearful farewell with this magnificent boat, we drove them to the airport and had our own set of good-byes. Then we returned to Moonshadow, raised her new "battle flag" (thanks again Ryan and Scott! And enjoyed a delicious bottle of Chandon left behind by George and Merima. Soon we'll cast off and let Moonshadow take us south for some clear water anchorages, swimming, snorkeling, and long slow days in the sun. We are getting to ...
SAILING MOONSHADOW: November 2011
http://saillegacy.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 1, 2011. Today, November 1st, turns out to be a big day for John and Deb. First, it marks the 38th anniversary of our engagement. Our engagement resulted in part from a plan to sail around the world, that (it was agreed) wouldn't be too well received by certain parents if we were un-married. solution? Easy: Let's get married! What do you do when waiting for your house and boat to sell so you can commence your dream cruise? Non skid is silicone sand sprinkled through a jar with holes dri...
SAILING MOONSHADOW: January 2012
http://saillegacy.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Ok, so now it's January, 2012, and we haven't sold the house or the boat or any cars or any junk that's in the attic. But we have bought. Some stuff, like these cool foulies! Now hopefully, we can stow them away in a duffle, and one day reflect on what a waste of money it was to buy foul weather gear since we never use them because the weather is always perfect. We do believe in insurance! What a treat we had. Posted by John and Deb Rogers. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
SAILING MOONSHADOW: Discovering Mazatlan
http://saillegacy.blogspot.com/2015/04/discovering-mazatlan.html
Wednesday, April 29, 2015. World navigators possess amazing skills to find their way not just at sea but also ashore. We, on the other hand, found ourselves utterly lost in Mazatlan. Well OK, technically we weren't lost, but after we could not find the Colonial District of Mazatlan, we returned to Moonshadow to regroup where we turned to our FWC. But when we left, we rode the elevator down from the roof. It stopped. The streets are narrow and the building facades are captivating. Another door opens to an...

Adventures of Judy and Bill as we circle the world on s/v BeBe. TRANSLATE, TRADUIRE, ÜBERSETZEN, TRADUCIR, 翻译. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Catching up in St. Paul's Bay. Installing new bimini and clear side panels. While at boatyard pontoon. Just part of the stuff we removed from ONE-HALF of. The cockpit lazarette. It is huge! Removed that stuff to get to these. Expired flares to dispose of at. All that stuff (plus more stacked on the mizzen deck). Came out of that section of the lazarette. It goes all the.
SAILING MOONSHADOW: December 2012
http://saillegacy.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 30, 2012. Click on photos to enlarge). English Harbour is a place seafarers have been visiting since Christopher Columbus. It is full of history and beautiful yachts. The British thought it was better to keep it for themselves so they built a fort at the entrance. And they stocked the place with cannons. lots of cannons! Now days, they'll let almost anybody come and hang out here. Still, it really helps if you have a HUGE super yacht. This is 289 foot sailing yacht Maltese Falcon. But al...

Sailing in the Andes - Voyages of the RV Heraclitus
Welcome to Sailing in the Andes Online Interactive Book. This project was conceived, developed and written by John Horniblow as hybrid interactive book. It is based on his writings from time spent aboard the RV Heraclitus on an expedition to Circumnavigate South America including a trip to Antarctic Peninsula (ECSA). It commenced production in 1995 and as such the early limitations of web browser technologies , played a pivotal role in defining how the book was developed and presented online.

Musings of an Orthodox Christian wife and mom. December 20, 2013. Beeswax and honey crafting. First batch of lip balm. Next I tried making honey lollipops. These were better in theory than in actuality. You take honey and boil it until it reaches hard crack stage (300 degrees F), then pour it over sticks and let it harden. Simple, right? Honey syrup boiling over! So that is my crafting post. Note: Click on the pictures to embiggen them. It’s really hard to see them clearly otherwise. December 3, 2013.

SPANISH WINE and CAVA. Spain is a hot, dry, mountainous country with more vineyard land than any other nation on earth. It ranks third in the world in wine production, after France and Italy. Is a Valencian rice dish that originated in its modern form in the mid-19th century in Valencia. Many non-Spaniards view paella as Spain's national dish.
