Salty Point: November 2007

http://saltypoint.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html

Greg and Mekayla's Blog. Saturday, November 3, 2007. On the road again. Well, we have taken quite a hiatus from posting recently. Seems like every time I started to write a post the news would change before I got around to actually posting it. Today we are leaving Rotorua and heading for Christchurch. So let's briefly recap how we got to this point before something changes again:. Journeyed briefly to Wellington and started worrying it might not provide enough access to the South Island. I had gotten a l...

Greg and Mekayla's Blog. Tuesday, July 22, 2008. We have a mere four days remaining in New Zealand, and are running through a mixture of emotions. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back home and exploring the US a bit, but we are definitely going to miss many things about NZ and a number of people here as well. Our general route back to Boston goes like this:. Hawaii: I can't wait to get away from winter. Colorado: Probably go up through Utah because it's supposed to be scenic and amazing. We hav...

Salty Point: May 2008

http://saltypoint.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Greg and Mekayla's Blog. Sunday, May 18, 2008. It seems I just can't be satisfied coming to another country without learning another language. At first, I thought it would be enough to focus on learning to understand the Kiwi's crazy form of English. It's been no easy feat to get to the point where I can come out with proper responses to phrases such as "Bob's your uncle", "Good on ya", and "sweet-as". However, in addition to English, there are actually two other official languages in New Zealand: Māori.

Salty Point: Where'd the Hair Go?

http://saltypoint.blogspot.com/2008/09/whered-hair-go.html

Greg and Mekayla's Blog. Friday, September 26, 2008. Where'd the Hair Go? Several of you commented that my hair seems a lot shorter in the recent blog posts. There's a reason for that. My good friend Carrie had some fun playing with scissors. The thought was that if I didn't cut my hair during the year I was gone, maybe it would be long enough to donate when I returned to the country. Most places require 10 inches. To my great surprise, my ponytail measured in at 15. Guess that will do. Where are we now?

dcantrell: Know Your Fireplace!

http://blog.burdell.org/2015/01/know-your-fireplace.html

Ranked #147 on Alta Vista in 1997! Tuesday, January 13, 2015. We used our fireplace for the first time last night. I've never lived in a place with a usable fireplace except the house where I grew up. Our new house has a fireplace, which we were both looking forward to using. Be sure to know the parts of your fireplace. The mantle. Is the shelf above the fireplace. Do not build a fire on the mantle. This is where you put your Aim n' Flame or matches (but probably shouldn't). The hearth. Now, before build...

Has been causing the road to change between the morning and evening. Seems like the risk for an accident is a little higher right now, plus it gets all clogged up as construction equipment and stupid people try to push their way through the mess. Years ago I used to commute north via I-93 out of Somerville.

Ranked #147 on Alta Vista in 1997! Monday, May 19, 2014. What Is It Like to Have Some Form of Colorblindness. I've been colorblind my entire life and it's not really a severe problem, it just means some things will be more annoying to you than to other people. Coloring assignments in elementary school were annoying, as were really anything that required coloring. I read the labels on crayons and markers. I dislike those high intensity discharge headlamps that BMW and other manufacturers started using&#46...

The Newell Memos: July 2012

http://a-newell-life.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Sydney Trip: Family Reunion and Birthday Dinner. Henny and Oliver hosted a gathering of the cousins at their house on Saturday, around lunchtime. It was a perfect time to break the ice so all the cousins got to catch up, introduce and reintroduce themselves, try to figure out where we all fit in this enormous family tree, and allow the younger kids to overcome their shyness around each other. Hendri's daughter, Alyssa, and Hendra's eldest son, Jayden. Kayleigh, the party girl! Allen, David, and Hendra.

It took Kayleigh a long time to figure out how to draw a face. She's so proud of herself for figuring out how to draw "habby baces" (happy faces) that that was all she drew for a long time. Now, she's starting to put more details into her people drawings. Gong-Gong on the left and a very tall Po-Po on the right (Kayleigh, age 2.5). Thursday, December 27, 2012 Category: 0 comments. Belle has been through a lot this year. She is a 10-year old cat, who saw a lot of health issues recently. The most severe of all was the discovery of large scabs across her back, which would irritate her so much that she couldn't leave them alone, resulting in bloody, oozing sores. With this feeding structure, seen below. It was actually a scratching post/bunk bed for our cats, which Paul and I built several years ago. The stainless steel contraption on the right is a water fountain. Meanwhile, Belle ha...

Abby begged me to take some pictures of her and her sister in their matching monkey pajamas. So, bright and early one morning, we came downstairs before the sun had barely peeked up above the horizon and goofed around the living room for some fun photos. Thursday, January 27, 2011 Category: 4 comments. The world of princesses is one I'm not terribly familiar with. School was closed on President's Day, of course, and I took the day off to hang out with the girls. The girls loved the museum. I would have loved it more if it weren't for the fact that the entire kid population of Denver was packed into this building! We still spent a couple of hours there and got to do several hands-on activities. The first exhibit that drew the girls' attentions was the rocket crafting area, which included an area to launch their paper rockets to see how well they fly. We actually en...

I left this buUUuLL-WHIP bythenight-STAND! After writing three album reviews on this site, I realize how much I hate affixing numbers to them. After all, a number-based system won’t work at all for this blog. Here are a few reasons why:. 1) I listen to music that I believe I will like. 2) I am too open to music to outwardly dislike something. 3) Taking these into consideration, the average rating will be very high. With that in mind, I continue to the album I want to talk about now:. Bejar picks up for &...

On one hand, the Savior warned against an adulterous generation who seeks for a sign. ( Matthew 16:4. On the other, the Lord also commanded His disciples to watch for the signs of His coming. As I go about life. Tuesday, December 25, 2012. Home away from home. I've always not relished the thought of staying in hostels. To me, the idea of sharing rooms and bathrooms with strangers isn't exactly appealing. So for this trip, I decided to let SY book all our accommodation. I will just go along with what she picks.
