2015 GOALS: Mid Year Review | sdbev

https://sdbev.wordpress.com/2015/08/07/2015-goals-mid-year-review

I've tried many crafts but always return to SEWING. 2015 GOALS: Mid Year Review. August 7, 2015. It’s now mid-2015 and time to review and think about those lofty Goals Published at the beginning of the year. Most months I am at least thinking about sheers. I’ve saved a number of inspirational garment pics of sheers or could make use of sheers. I added a Calendar Reminder. It pops up once a month reminding me to “think” about a sheers project. I created a new blog in 2014 devoted to Sheers. I’ve ide...

Goals for 2015 | sdbev

https://sdbev.wordpress.com/2015/01/02/2015

I've tried many crafts but always return to SEWING. January 2, 2015. I’ve been thinking new goals for several weeks. Still on the list. I’ve not reduced the sheers significantly nor is using sheers a habit. I need that tickler just to even be thinking about sheers. Redecorate Sewing and Stash Room. I do want to replace the fabric accessories with the new fabric. Current size tends to slip forward at an angle. Serger mat is needed. Behind the Cover Stitch i.e. where I take selfies. I've tried many crafts but always return to SEWING. August 13, 2015. My Other Blog Posts. My collection needs a third layer. If you’ve read my posts for any time at all, you’ll know that I want extra coverage in the sun and in the grocery store freezer sections. I’m using View B from Connie Crawford B5793 pattern. Seams Well: StyleArc Laura Dress

http://seamswell.blogspot.com/2015/04/stylearc-laura-dress.html

Sewing Adventures and Day Dreams of Them Plus some Opinions Here and There. Sunday, April 26, 2015. I really like this dress pattern. It's easy to sew and comfortable to wear (although as of this writing, I haven't worn it out of the house yet - or out of the sewing room for that matter). I'd been eyeing this one for some time and with the sale on PDF patterns at the StyleArc Etsy shop. This weekend, I decided it was time to purchase. Sewing was easy. I used the sewing machine and serger. I diver...I wil...

Seams Well: November 2014

http://seamswell.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

Sewing Adventures and Day Dreams of Them Plus some Opinions Here and There. Saturday, November 22, 2014. Vogue 9060 - Love this Tilton Skirt. I have wanted to make this skirt for several weeks, but just had too much of "life" going on to give it any attention. It's now finally complete! I have several black tops that I think will work with it, and I'm hoping a red Tea Garden Tee (pattern shown below) that I made years ago will work with it. I haven't taken the time to check the reds together. Not me, of ...

Seams Well: June 2014

http://seamswell.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Sewing Adventures and Day Dreams of Them Plus some Opinions Here and There. Thursday, June 26, 2014. Pattern weights, that is. I have always generally pinned patterns to fabric. Not sure why. Mom always used weights rather than pins. Her weights were the silverware from the kitchen. She especially liked using the knives in the stainless steel collection (not the sharp steak knives). I had more pattern weights. Now I have my own wiggly earthworm weights! Sunday, June 22, 2014. At that time, Mom (and, ther...

Seams Well: Bias Top

http://seamswell.blogspot.com/2015/02/bias-top.html

Sewing Adventures and Day Dreams of Them Plus some Opinions Here and There. Sunday, February 08, 2015. One of the members of my sewing guild decided to present a demo of the Bias Top featured in the Threads Magazine Issue 143. I had remembered reading something about an error in the pattern measurements in a later issue of Threads. I pulled my old issues around that time and found the correction in measurements noted in Issue 144 and on the Threads Website. I sent the corrections to my guild friend.

An analytical thinker's adventures (and misadventures) in sewing and design. The Belated Spoonflower Challenge Dress. July 13, 2016. July 13, 2016. The latest addition to my self-designed wardrobe is a dress made from organic cotton sateen in the print called Entangled, which was designed by Heather Dutton of Hang Tight Studio. And sold on Spoonflower.com. I intended to wear it in the ASG Chicago Chapter. As you can see, the dress has a curved Empire seam. It dips quite a bit in the back. I was really ex...

Sewing Adventures and Day Dreams of Them Plus some Opinions Here and There. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Silhouette Patterns Tank Dress. This dress was completed before the Laura knit dress shown in the previous post. Getting photos uploaded and blog posts written has just not been a priority the last month or so. What can I say? Seams Well: Two Tops

http://seamswell.blogspot.com/2015/02/two-tops.html

Sewing Adventures and Day Dreams of Them Plus some Opinions Here and There. Monday, February 09, 2015. These two knit tops were completed within the last two weeks. Just had no motivation to get photos. This was a no make-day so I look pretty washed out. Not good, but at least photos are done. If I remember correctly, this is a straight size M out of the envelope. It seemed like a good fabric to use as a "muslin" for this pattern that so many in blogland are raving about. I like them both! I like these s...

Sew Forth and Conquer: May 2013

http://sewforthandconquer.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html

Sew Forth and Conquer. A chronicle of my sewing and other creative journeys. Sunday, May 12, 2013. I recently made up three knit tops over a weekend. I had pulled the fabrics out and had them sitting on the work table while I admired them and tried to decide what they wanted to be. One I had purchased several years ago, one purchased last summer and the last purchased just about a month ago. I love each for its striking and unique look. I believe I got this first fabric several years ago from Marcy Tilton.

sdbev | I've tried many crafts but always return to SEWING.

I've tried many crafts but always return to SEWING. Posted by sdbev in Indy's. Yes that’s plural. Two muslins. So I cut fabric, taped the shoulders and neckline and basted together with water-soluble thread. BTW, I love how well Loes patterns are drafted. They go together so quickly. It seem like in no time at all I had this hot mess:. Despite having traced 2 sizes larger than recommended, I don’t think I have enough bust ease. Not only is my shape pretty apparent, but the CF is rising. It’s such a...

The Burda Experience | my sewing inspired by Burda

My sewing inspired by Burda. 07/2010 Style 112 – Caftan. At the same time, I have an issue with my stash. It’s grown beyond designated bounds. I pulled all the black and grey fabrics off their shelf. Retrieved the pieces that weren’t on their shelf and planned my Winter 6PAC. That is, serge finished the edge. Stitch the side seam at 1/2″. Press the edges around the armholes at 1/2″ and then top stitch those into place. Easy, quick and looks great. Would I make it again? I have a tummy. I had it when ...

sdBev The Indy's

SdBev The Indy's. I decided to wait for your advice before proceeding with the Pointelle Knit. It and associated fabric scraps are hanging on hanger, tucked into a corner of the Sewing Room Closet. I opted to lower the right bust dart 1″ (and crossed my fingers hoping I was right). I retrieved my armscye templates and redrew the right armscye. I was rather surprised that the back armscye wasn’t much lower, but it did seem to fill in, a lot. All that blue is added space when the template is copied. Not an...

sdBev Knits

It’s knit with 2 strands of 2/24 acrylic yarn in a tuck stitch pattern that imitates cables or fisherman knits. Even with 2 strands of yarn, this is a light weight knit and does not have quite the depth of a hand knit fisherman’s Guernsey. The purl side becomes the right side although the knit side is also interesting. I used simple shapes or intended to use simple trapezoid shapes. It’s not a perfect process and not totally lovely, but it does work. This entry was posted in Cut N Sew. December 9, 2016.
