June 2014 ~ Year 5 Blog

http://www.shamblehurstyear5.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Friday, 27 June 2014. We interrupted our Maths lesson this morning, as we were thrilled to see an unusual visitor just outside the classroom - a wonderful woodpecker! He was collecting insects along the edge of the playground and I just managed to grab a quick photograph of him before he soared away into the trees. It may have been an interruption, but as many of the children had never seen one before, it seemed too good an opportunity to miss. It was a real moment of awe and wonder! Promote your Page too.

January 2015 ~ Year 5 Blog

http://www.shamblehurstyear5.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 28 January 2015. According to Year 5, the project about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings has been amazing! The outcome this afternoon, when we shared the plays the children had written themselves, that included all the super historical facts that they have now learnt, was marvellous! The children were incredible and we are very proud of them. Thank you, too, to all the family members, who came and watched them perform - a performance needs an audience! I wonder what our next project will be .

October 2014 ~ Year 5 Blog

http://www.shamblehurstyear5.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, 9 October 2014. We took our learning outside and explored the solar system! Using the inflatable planets - and a star! We discovered the order in which they appear, relative to the sun. We also learnt how they orbit the sun and how each one has a different orbit and takes a different length of time to orbit the Sun. It was a bit chilly, but good fun! Promote your Page too. http://shamblehurstyear1.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Saturday, 23 May 2015. In Year 1, as part of our Andy Ant’s Allotment project, we have had the fantastic opportunity to watch the lifecycle of a butterfly first hand. The children have observed over the last 4 weeks how the caterpillars have grown and grown before creating their chrysalises. We observed them in their chrysalis state and were lucky enough to see them emerge into beautiful butterflies! Friday, 15 May 2015. Year 1 Trip to Hilliers Gardens. Promote your Page too. Stones And Bones ~ Year 3 Blog

http://shamblehurstyear3.blogspot.com/2015/03/stones-and-bones.html

Saturday, 14 March 2015. Our new Stone Age to Iron Age project began when a curator from Winchester City Museum dropped off some strange artefacts for us to investigate! The children didn't know where or from what time period they came from. They had to use their inference and deduction skills to work out where they had come from. The children really impressed us with their thinking skills! Promote your Page too. World Book Day 2015. Shamblehurst Primary School. Powered by Blogger.

Wednesday, 15 January 2014. Around the World in Six Weeks. The children were very excited to find a suitcase in their playground. Where did it come from? Who does it belong to? How will we get it back to the owner? This week we will be investigating Africa, hoping that this will help us find out more about where the suitcase came from. Promote your Page too. 2013-09-29 ~ Year R Blog

http://shamblehurstyearr.blogspot.com/2013_09_29_archive.html

Thursday, 3 October 2013. Our trip to Build a Bear and Waterstones. Year R had a fantastic day yesterday when they visited the Build a Bear Workshop and Waterstones. The children loved travelling by coach. There were a number of excited squeals! At Waterstones we looked at different 'Bear' stories. We also discussed the different areas of the book store. At Build A Bear the children tested how cuddly and soft different bears were. They then voted for the teddy they would like as their class bear. Februar...

Friday, 13 March 2015. The Twits and Healthy Eating! The children are currently really enjoying our topic on one of Roald Dahl's famous books The Twits. We were lucky enough to get a surprise visit from Mr and Mrs Twit themselves on World Book Day. They came into our classrooms asking us for some help because they wanted to start to live a healthy life. Year 2 agreed to help them and offer some suggestions only if in return they would agree to be kind and helpful! Promote your Page too.

Wednesday, 15 July 2015. So here's the review of "Jour Trois" of our French adventure. Although we woke up to rain first thing this morning, we were in good spirits after a good nights sleep and another mammoth breakfast. Having made our own lunch again (we're getting good at this! We think the children may have kept Oreos in business for the next few years! This was followed by a beautiful trip to the beach where the children played games and basketball, and ordered more (yes, more! Ice cream in French!

October 2014 ~ Year 3 Blog

http://shamblehurstyear3.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, 23 October 2014. Knowing Me, Knowing You. One quiet morning we decided to go to the conservation area to get some inspiration for some autumn poetry. However, upon entering the conservation area the children made a startling discovery! There were banners and posters all around! One poster said 'Save Our Species, another said 'Stop destroying our habitat! In English we learnt about non-chronological reports and created a variety using our learning in science. After this we learnt how to stru...

http://shamblehurstyear4.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Monday, 7 October 2013. What a strange afternoon we had in Year 4 today! There we were quietly reading and minding our own business when in burst Miss Edwards to inform us that we had a very important visitor waiting to see us! It turned out to lady called Anne and her daughter called Elizabeth who claims she was/is a queen, she isn't sure at the moment as she is on the run from the King (her husband) after being charged with treason!
