Too much wine in rural Japan
April | 2015 | Silly Bollocks
https://sillybollocks.wordpress.com/2015/04
Too much wine in rural Japan. Archive April, 2015. I must have ranted on here about the After School Care at our school. I’m not sure if it officially has ‘Program’ at the end of that but god damn it, it is a free for all run-amoc mess of bad language, shit supervision and bordering-on-dangerous antics. It is cheap as chips though. Only 3,500 yen (roughly $40) per child PER MONTH. This price doesn’t change during the summer holidays either when the kids can go for the ENTIRE day. Shou and HTB had apparen...
PTA Bollocks – End of Term | Silly Bollocks
https://sillybollocks.wordpress.com/2015/07/14/pta-bollocks-end-of-term
Too much wine in rural Japan. PTA Bollocks – End of Term. This Friday is the last day of term 1 here in Japan. Tis also the day me and the boys fly to NZ and also the day Typhoon number 11 is due to slam directly into the airport we leave from, so whether we actually make it out alive or not is another matter. My kebab and cheap wine extravaganza may get delayed by a day. Hub, who took the afternoon off – as he is from the camp that thinks kinder PTA bollocks is for mummies but school shite is for ...

Too much wine in rural Japan. Archive January, 2015. Flu ‘probably’ hath arriveth. HA, and there you have it. I got called to the kinder at 11am to go and pick up a crying feverish child. Poor boy, he was beside himself. They had just come back from a 2km walk to pick leeks – as you do – and so I bundled him and a few leeks up into the car and took everyone home. Then, at 3:30 I got a call from the school – Marina had a temperature. I asked how high. 37.1. Right, both these things really get to me and I ...
OUCH! my nuts! | Silly Bollocks
https://sillybollocks.wordpress.com/2015/08/10/ouch-my-nuts
Too much wine in rural Japan. The amount of English being used at home is rapidly increasing and the boys even have moments of completely forgetting a Japanese word for something – which I love. There is intertwining of both languages in sentences, using grammar and/or words of which ever language comes to mind first. Mum, I did not おいかける Ryu. めっちゃyummy-かった (Ryu talking about roast spuds). どこ行った Holy crap, get away sucker…. First Week of Kiwi School. The Apple →. 4 Responses to “OUCH! And PS shoes off is...

Too much wine in rural Japan. Archive July, 2015. First Week of Kiwi School. BUT on the upside the class has 11 iPads so… …. And the new young man teachers is quite hot – so much in fact that I get ‘middle-aged-dowdy-fat-mother’ syndrome, whereby I suddenly can’t speak and I keep trying to suck my self in – like not just my stomach. Try and suck your calfs in. Go on. You end up with stupid knees. But, back to school…. I told both their teachers that 5 weeks is just too short to really worry about any pro...

Okaasan and Me: May 2015
http://okaasanandme.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Home life with an elderly Japanese lady (Okaasan) who has to live with a not-so-sweet foreign daughter-in-law (Oyomesan). Friday, 29 May 2015. From one moment to the next. You never know where dementia is going to take you. Even within the same person - from day to day, or even hour to hour - the dementia is working differently. It makes living with dementia an interesting ride - trying to judge whether we are needed to help/remind/protect/guide - or not needed at all. On the first day. She readily agree...

Home life with an elderly Japanese lady (Okaasan) who has to live with a not-so-sweet foreign daughter-in-law (Oyomesan). Tuesday, 30 June 2015. Got to see Still Alice at the weekend, and watched it with a double purpose:. Although it is the story of a middle aged Alzheimer's sufferer, and the smart life linguistics professor heroine is nothing like Okaasan, I could of course identify with many of the situations and emotions. And I watched it with me in mind - me and my recent memory lapses. On the downs...
Okaasan and Me: July 2014
http://okaasanandme.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Home life with an elderly Japanese lady (Okaasan) who has to live with a not-so-sweet foreign daughter-in-law (Oyomesan). Tuesday, 29 July 2014. Another year.another BBQ. BBQ day again in our house - from early morning the kitchen, entrance hall and front door area full of boxes, food, alcohol and people. In past years she has sat out in neighborhood parks or restaurants to avoid coming home, exited thru windows and generally got angry with us and the guests for staying too long and making too much mess.
Okaasan and Me: February 2015
http://okaasanandme.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Home life with an elderly Japanese lady (Okaasan) who has to live with a not-so-sweet foreign daughter-in-law (Oyomesan). Thursday, 26 February 2015. A glass of wine. I could see it - through a day from hell - I kept getting flashes of that remaining few centimeters of Otaru wine in the bottle at home, poured into the glass and beckoning to me: " Come sip me! As I plowed onwards thru a day of tight schedule and must-do-madness.that red wine, in a glass, in my hand.was awaiting. The security chain was on!

101 things in 1001 days. The waiting game is over. On: December 4, 2013. It’s been such a long time since I posted I wonder if anybody is still even out there reading? Hard to believe isn’t it? Juggling school, daycare and my shop along with household duties is not always an easy task. A is now 5 and M is 3! Twin mama and anthropology PhD hanging onto my sanity in Texas and Japan. The Road Back to Houston. 8221; directed skyward, I shrugged and banged a U-turn out of that gravel driveway and headed back to I-10. My new plan was to get as far as I could before I had to pull to the shoulder and call someone. 8221; I asked “If you’re about to run out of gas, is it better to drive fast or slow? Siri answered: “I wish you wouldn’t.”. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). June 30, 2014. I guess I need t...

Always leaving things unfinishe: Chopstick etiquette
http://alwaysleavingthingsunfinishe.blogspot.com/2014/01/chopstick-etiquette.html
Always leaving things unfinishe. Stumbling through life in Japan. Thursday, 9 January 2014. I can't believe I didn't write about this! I hope someone coming to Japan will look up chopstick etiquette and then get sent here to read all about my ridiculous family and their countless battles. I was actually at work so am getting the story from both sides second hand but from what I can tell:. So please, do be careful with those chopsticks, if you misuse them they may become weapons of mass radish destruction!

Silly Bollocks | Too much wine in rural Japan
Too much wine in rural Japan. So, Marina is back in Japan, no doubt getting completely spoiled by daddy and Granny K. I know it’s hard for hub – his schedule over the summer with Marina’s stuff added in is pretty hectic. But he’s manning up, like he always does, and with the help of some mummy friends I think Marina is being pretty well looked after :). And by missing out I do mean boo hoooo I’m really very upset. Not halloween so bobbing for them out of the question. Perhaps they would stick sparklers i...
