Simply Pieced

Thursday, July 23, 2015. It's that time of the week to share all our wonderful finishes. This week I finished a star baby quilt for some dear friends of ours. Their baby is due next week so I really was cutting it close with this one. This quilt allowed me to utilize some of my scraps from other projects. I really love how the colors pop against the dark gray and the text print. The back ties into the front with the elements in the periodic table. When I found the Equations. Fabrics at Pink Castle Fabrics.

Simply Pieced: January 2015

http://www.simplypieced.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 2, 2015. I'm not sure of the official name of this pattern, but I call it Garden Lattice. With the Flea Market Fancy prints and the layout of the fabric, it reminded me of a lattice you would find in a garden. The back of the quilt utilizes the rest of the scraps left over from the front. The binding is a crosshatch patterned fabric I found at Joann's that compliments the Flea Market Fancy prints. This quilt was a big hit with the in-laws. I'm really glad they liked it.

Wednesday, November 26, 2014. Scrap Busting Part 2. In my original Scrap Busting. Post, I shared a mystery scrap project I started working on after I finished my scrappy herringbone quilt top. I use the word "mystery" very literally since it was even a mystery to me. I started out with lots of left over scrappy strips that I turned into scrappy blocks. I then created scrappy HST. Here's what my scrappy flying geese look like. Janet @ Simply Pieced. Monday, November 24, 2014. My plan for the rest of this ...

Simply Pieced: TGIFF!

http://www.simplypieced.blogspot.com/2015/03/tgiff.html

Thursday, March 26, 2015. It's another wonderful Friday and time to show off what you've finished this week! I finished a quilt called Diamond Pastures. I used a Cotton and Steal layered cake of Melody Miller's Mustang collection. I paired up my HST with one warm fabric and one cool fabric. It really helped this pattern pop! This was a pretty easy quilt to put together with large HST, but the design really does stand out due to the color pairing. Please include a link and/or button for TGIFF! Thanks for ...

Good Golly Ginger: March 2015

http://www.goodgollyginger.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Saturday, March 28, 2015. Gaggle of Geese Finish. In my last post, someone commented that surely this mini quilt was a gaggle of geese. For sure! Pattern from Fat Quarter Shop. My intention was to quilt many spirals on this quilt. They were not going well, and it was frankly too slow to make a spiral. So I stopped that, and I quilted radiating straight lines from the spiral. I'm still not happy with the finished quilting, but it is done. And done is better than nothing. Right? It’s a Wrap! Baby D Chevron Quilt Finish

http://www.michellebartholomew.com/2013/08/its-a-wrap-baby-d-chevron-quilt-finish

English Paper Piecing EPP. It’s a Wrap! Baby D Chevron Quilt Finish. August 11, 2013. I wasn’t kidding on Wednesday when I said this quilt was going to have glamour shots taken. I almost wish I could have staged an amazing 80s glamour set, but this quilt is a bit too modern for that kind of foolishness. There is something about quilts outdoors that gets me everytime… throw in an old building and a field of long grass and I’m basically never leaving. Filed Under: Finished Projects. I love it Michelle!

Star Dresden Pillow

There's A Thread. A lifestyle and craft blog. I bet a lot of you saw Nicole’s Star Dresden Tutorial. A few weeks ago, right? Wasn’t it great? I knew I had to make one right away. I have to confess: for whatever reason I’m not really drawn to the traditional Dresden block. But something about Nicole’s idea of making the. Don’t you think? I modified Nicole’s instructions slightly to make twelve petals instead of thirteen. The template I used is here. I had to buy more of the binding fabric to redo it, beca...

Quilts from the Little House: March 2015

https://quiltsfromthelittlehouse.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Quilts from the Little House. Friday, March 27, 2015. Oh, a finish feels so good! I was very close to finishing this quilt when I posted on Wednesday. I stayed up extra late that night to complete the binding. Now it's been photographed, washed and dried, and photographed again along with it's "fraternal twin." (Just yesterday, I said that I don't often repeat a quilt, and now look what I did.). Gray day. Sigh. Borrowing the neighbor's fence out of the breeze. And one more picture of the quilts together:.

Sewing, Quilting and the love of Fabric. Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Birds of a Feather. I am doing some preliminary pieces for an upcoming quilt, ugg I don't know if I like it or is it just different because I have done little paper piecing. Here is my first little birdie, a free pattern off. Well I have come to the conclusion to keep going, I only need 3 or 5 birdies and doing things that scare me have worked out in the past.
