Ski Run. Climb. Repeat. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Wind River Climbing Part II. We spent the afternoon of our rest day relaxing at our new camp below haystack mountain, watching a party “epic” on minor dihedral (way off route), which we planned to climbed the next day (III 5.9 10p). Luckily we got some good beta from a different party in the area about the proper route-finding and went to bed nervous yet excited. Starting up pitch 1. Stoked for the money pitch. Pitch 5 (photo: chris). Fun exposed pitch 2.

http://andrewmayer.blogspot.com/2015/07/speedgoat-50k-race-report.html
Ski Run. Climb. Repeat. Monday, July 27, 2015. Speedgoat 50k race report. With 11,800 vert of climbing, Speedgoat is undoubtedly one of the toughest 50k races in the country (multiple races make this claim). Therefore a number of people thought I was crazy/stupid/etc. to do it as my first 50k. Regardless, I did, with it serving as a terminus of sorts of my 9 weeks in Utah this summer. As my first 50k (and 2. Running race ever), I went in with moderate expectations:. Finish sub 8 hours. Stretch of rough, ...

Saturday, June 30, 2012. Mt Rainier Speed Run (on skis), 5:00.57. We pulled into Ashford Thursday evening and packed up for the next day. With the unsettled forecast we discussed hauling up extra safety measures. We loaded a rope, prussiks, full avy gear, puffy, extra pants, extra gloves, hand warmers, headlamp, ice screw, tibloc, crampons and ski crampons. Not exactly light and fast but not too bad. Dorky smile, about to start in the rain. Crossing the Cowitz, sagging snow bridge ahead. Once we hit the ...

Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Mt Hood Speed Attempt. When we got to Timberline Lodge it was 3PM, 70 degrees and sunny. The snow was a slushy mess. Not quite what I was hoping for but figured I'd give it a go. The first 2800' are in the resort and although the snow was slushy it was reasonably compacted and skinned pretty well. I think I hit the top of the resort in roughly 45 mins. The 'schrund on the Hogsback. Looking west from the summit. Not sure what's wrong with my face. Hogsback on the way down. Http:/ ...

Stories of hobo life at epic events! Saturday, December 06, 2014. 2014 Vert180 - First Skimo of Season. Into the 2nd climb of the Vert180 with heavy legs and high breath-rate, I determined that skimo racing is way tougher than any other endurance sport I've done! Skinning up the slopes of COP -. Just returning from my epic cycling trip in Taiwan. With a top-notch field of women on the start line, I went out at a fast though self-preserving pace for the 180 minutes we were to be out there. I found it easi...
