A Hidden Jem: July 2016
http://jemsdays.blogspot.com/2016_07_01_archive.html
Friday, 29 July 2016. Today I am joining in with the lovely Amy at Love Made My Home. For Five on Friday. I thought I would share five really great things from the last few weeks that have made me a very happy person indeed. Firstly, I would like to thank everyone who left lovely messages on my last post. They mean such a lot and it was so heart warming to read them all. Of course, my first happy has to be our wedding! What can I say? It was everything we had hoped for and more. The perfect day for us.

A Hidden Jem: a quiet month
http://jemsdays.blogspot.com/2016/11/a-quiet-month.html
Friday, 18 November 2016. We've had a gentle couple of weeks. Germs have reared their ugly heads once again, so we've suffered some restless nights. Lily has had a horrible cough which has gone on for several weeks now, that thankfully seems to be easing off at last. I have been working on my crochet when time allows and I am also knitting some socks. I think this is the first time I have ever had two projects on the go at the same time. 18 November 2016 at 13:41. 23 November 2016 at 11:25. Aww, thank yo...

A Hidden Jem: May 2016
http://jemsdays.blogspot.com/2016_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, 19 May 2016. Last weekend was Lily's birthday and all we have heard for the last couple of weeks is "three candles"! We had a lovely day, just the three of us, with family joining us in the evening for a slice of cake and, of course, some party rings. The day was ours to do as we pleased so we travelled to Haverthwaite and caught the steam train to Lakeside at the south shore of Windermere. A relaxing journey of about three and a half miles. Beautiful views as we got off the train. Housework ha...

A Hidden Jem: March 2016
http://jemsdays.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 29 March 2016. Following some seemingly never ending long, wet, windy and dark Winter months, Spring finally arrived and with it brought some much welcome sunshine. I can't tell you how amazing it has felt to open wide the windows, hang out the washing and get outside in the fresh air without wearing full waterproof gear. We also completed a farm trail walk through fields and woodland, even spotting a Heron by the pond. Friday, 25 March 2016. And welcome to my little blog. I'm Jules and I live i...

A Hidden Jem: November 2016
http://jemsdays.blogspot.com/2016_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 30 November 2016. The weather has turned very chilly all of a sudden and with the temperatures dropping we have been experiencing some very cold but extremely beautiful frosty days. The daily morning walk to pre-school soon gets us warmed through, and we arrive with cheeks and noses all aglow. My hand knitted woolly socks are now my favourite thing to wear. They really make such a difference and never fail to keep my toes toasty warm. Such a comforting feeling. During the week we took a walk o...

A Hidden Jem: June 2016
http://jemsdays.blogspot.com/2016_06_01_archive.html
Friday, 17 June 2016. Last Sunday found us in Grasmere, a beautiful little village famous for, amongst other things, William Wordsworth and gingerbread. It even has its own blog here. Often we find ourselves in Grasmere at the beginning and end of a long walk (there being so many to choose from in the area) but on this day it was just for the simple joy of a bimble around. We usually park a little way out of the village which lends itself to a gentle stroll alongside the river Rothay. Grasmere holds fond...

A Hidden Jem: getting ready
http://jemsdays.blogspot.com/2016/07/getting-ready.html
Monday, 11 July 2016. This weekend is going to be very special. I'm going to marry my best friend, the man who found me when I was lost, the daddy of my gorgeous girl and the one who will make me a cracking brew any time I ask. Neither of us wanted a large traditional affair so we have planned a small Register Office wedding followed by a meal in a lovely restaurant, then drinks back at our hotel. We are hoping for a relaxed and enjoyable day, full of love, surrounded by our families. My Empire Of Dirt.

A Hidden Jem: all is calm
http://jemsdays.blogspot.com/2016/12/all-is-calm_24.html
Saturday, 24 December 2016. On the build up to Christmas this year we have been mainly focused on creating some precious memories for Lily. She is at that wonderful age when she is beginning to understand what it is all about, so excitement levels have been reaching pretty high. The air has been still and damp and the ground so muddy we had to wear our wellingtons instead of our walking boots. Of course, that also meant we were able go splashing in the puddles. 24 December 2016 at 21:46. This did make me...

A Hidden Jem: embracing Autumn
http://jemsdays.blogspot.com/2016/11/embracing-autumn.html
Wednesday, 2 November 2016. I am loving Autumn this year! Words I never expected to hear myself saying, but I did yesterday whilst we were out walking. My heart has always belonged to the summer. Long, hot days, sunshine, bare feet. But recently something inside me has shifted and I have discovered a new appreciation for this time of year. Last week we enjoyed a short break away in Edinburgh. It was our first return to the capital since our wedding there in July and it was simply glorious. I am trying to...
