Studio 30, Friday February 13, was an extra long model session day with one pose for about 6 hours, except for short breaks and a potluck lunch. Fabulous! Thanks to Kat Sowa for her generous use of the studio at Cathedral Park Place, to all who made this happen and to the other artists who are so inspiring! I did 3 paintings mostly alla prima.

Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Dogwood, Pink 9" x 12" oil $135. Dogwood, White 9" x 12" oil $135. Yesterday was a warm sunny day at the Portland Arboretum in Forest Park. The sky was a cloudless blue at least for awhile, and I painted flowering dogwoods en plein air. Why are they called dogwood? I now have Pay Pal! Saturday, March 21, 2015. Friday, March 21st was the first official day of Spring, although we have had Spring-like weather lately in Portland. I painted plein air at the Arboretum in Forest Park among blooming magnolias. The sky was overcast but I made it home before it rained. Later I looked at my photos from last year and realized that I had painted in almost exactly the same spot, maybe the same trees! Some places just draw you in with their beauty. Links to this post. Saturday, June 27, 2015. Smith Rock Through Juniper, oil 11" x 14". With my plein air painting and sister Valerie Smith. Back from Central Oregon after the Smith Rock Paint Out with my painting, since it was not accepted into the Redmond Airport Show. The good news was that my sister Valerie's painting was accepted! Then I changed it to a more generic "High Desert Light", now "Smith Rock Through Juniper". As usual, the paint out was challenging, hot, inspiring, and fun! Labels: Smith Rock Paint Out 3.

We also decided that we did not need the stop motion section in the final.I thought it was much more sinister in terms of “we don’t know what happens next” sort of flow. I think it works better because during the critique, nobody bought up what happened next, people can assume their own endings which is a good thing in my opinion as we have left it open for own judgement.
