http://mattbushwalking.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, 12 April 2012. Easter at Mt Feathertop. We had aimed at getting up to Mt Feathertop some time in February but due to some very unfortunate circumstances we weren't able to make it. We made new plans for Easter and were able to be joined by some friends this time. The day arrived and we started walking in cloud, with the threat of rain and a forecast of thunderstorms. This didn't slow the boys down who took off a a great pace with no sign of slowing down. Mt Buffalo in the morning. We summited i...

Descriptions of various bushwalks, mainly in Tasmania. Search This and Related Blogs. Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Tuesday 10 February 2015. Many years ago I went over Mount Mawson and down to Hidden Tarn. On that walk we continued down to Lake Belcher, but after looking at the map and satellite images I thought it might be interesting to walk to the tarn then along the shelf as far as it is practical to go. The shelf is reasonably level and generally about 100m wide and 700m long. Hidden Tarn view west.

The cool air did not encourage a long lunch and 40 minutes later we were on the return walk, but this time we kept to the clear tracks and found ourselves back at the cars one hour later. We did make one dogleg that could have been avoided had we been aware that a track going in the wrong direction had a branch turning directly to the where we needed to go. Bluff River Gorge...

Bushbasher: March 2012
http://mattbushwalking.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Friday, 9 March 2012. This is a beautiful, undulating walk along the edge of button grass plains. Much of the walk is spent looking ahead to Mount Olympus laid out in magnificent panorama. Last of the Buttongrass plains. Whether it was the coffee waiting for us, the ferry to take us along the lake, or the bed waiting for us in Hobart, we made excellent time this morning and ended up with an hour or more to rest and explore the river and upper reaches of Lake St Clair before the ferry arrived. I'm a param...
