EVERYBODY look over here…EXCEPT FOR AGNES. Dear sweet Agnes, never one to trust strangers, or the uncle who frowned, or traveling salesmen who didn't bring her favorite flavor of gum drops. LADIES of the kitchen. This is not the first time I've featured my category: over the shoulder in the kitchen shots. In fact one of them was a Sepia Saturday post in December of 2013. So it is quite fortuitous that I have a new shot to add to my collection right as Sepia Saturday. Has a woman doing some pie making as the theme. I think these two could use some nice captions. Any suggestions? Click on image to see it larger. Click on image to see it larger. This is my contribution to Sepia Saturday. We no...

The FASHIONABLE YOUNG LADY in Ohio. Did she love to dance? Was she graceful or awkward? Did she have a sly sense of humor or a mean streak? Was she often told she was lovely? Did she believe it? Click on image to see it larger. Tattered and Lost: The Quiet Art of Reading. Labels: donald g. schnabel. Real photo post card. Her dress is surely a color. Dark red or green maybe? And when and why did large bows become a thing? It seems like every young girl from this era wore one. Search Tattered and Lost.

TATTERED AND LOST PHOTOGRAPHS: Summertime and HONOR FLIGHTS

http://tatteredandlostphotographs.blogspot.com/2015/07/summertime-and-honor-flights.html

Summertime and HONOR FLIGHTS. This post will be a disjointed two parter. The first part about summer and my contribution to Sepia Saturday. But it's summer and that should mean a trip to the coast. On the east coast they'd say they were going to the shore. Same country, two different worlds. Though this snapshot was taken in 1953 it could just as easily be today. Click on image to see it larger. Still, it's a day at the beach. As a child I spent a lot of time at beaches. These days very rarely. Earlier t...

Archetypal Angels: April 2009

http://archetypalangels.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 30, 2009. Wednesday, April 29, 2009. After a few more experiments, and giving into the urge to just go ahead a paint an angel, I arrived at this smooth, matte, non-speckled surface. I was back to the original two color sections with a thin third color edge that I had used nearly ten years ago when this Archetypal Angels series began. Next post, a big breakthrough; or at least that's the way I see it. Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Monday, April 27, 2009. Sunday, April 26, 2009. Although I didn'...

Wirreandah Wandering: May 2015

http://turnerstreettopics.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Snippets, snaps and family stories from the past. Friday, 29 May 2015. Missing my Sepia Saturdays. The photo above and the next two were taken on a visit to Hampton Court Palace a few years ago, and show the basic but naturally large, well-equipped and working palace kitchens. Those are real pork pies in the photo, that visitors could sample in the cafeteria. Our son Strahan looked the part in the professional kitchen while taking a cooking unit as part of his business degree in Hotel Management, but unf...

Tattered and Lost: Traveling with Charlie: Charlie's CHRISTMAS 1983

ABOUT TRAVELING WITH CHARLIE. A few years ago I was given a large box of photos that contained many snapshots of a man named Charlie. The photos were taken, I believe, by his wife. They span the early to late 1980s. I know nothing about Charlie other than he is from Texas. Oh, someone is now sitting in the backs...

Perky, resourceful, highly effective robot with with opera glasses for eyes. I actually repainted him, this is the final outcome, because originally the eyes were even bigger and more sappy. I know it's hard to believe but ultimately I do have my limits for schmaltz. Monday, June 8, 2009. Saturday, June 6, 2009. Live From the S...

Tattered and Lost: Traveling with Charlie: He came into town with CHANGE IN HIS POCKET

http://tatteredandlosttravelingwithcharlie.blogspot.com/2014/05/he-came-into-town-with-change-in-his.html

He came into town with CHANGE IN HIS POCKET. Charlie was in Vegas in March, 1984. He is proudly standing, according to what's written on the back, at the Frontier Motel. Was Charlie a gambler? Doesn't seem the type. Of course we'll never know because as usual Charlie is once again simply standing his ground. Click on image to see it larger. June 15, 2014 at 12:24 PM. Wirreandah Wandering: Hotel des Glaciers, Butlin's or Club Med, your choice!

Snippets, snaps and family stories from the past. Wednesday, 29 July 2015. Hotel des Glaciers, Butlins or Club Med, your choice! Hotels seem to be the flavour of this Sepia Saturday month, almost. Of course it is still summer holiday time in the northern hemisphere, unlike down here in Australia where it's rather wild and wintery, and way too chilly for either swimming or sunbaking, but we can look forward to warmer days to come. The note from Pat's friend Margie McP reads as follows:. You're the man pay...

S S President Cleveland ON THE HIGH SEAS UPDATE! This is an update to a post done on July 9, 2009. In October of 2014 I received an interesting comment from a reader. The fella has now followed up with a fascinating post of his dangerous voyage. Scroll down to the "UPDATE" to read his harrowing memory. I can close my eyes and remember standing aboard ship and watching the sun set on the horizon as we sailed to Hawaii, each day feeling the sea breeze grow warmer. I wish I could experience it again. Candy Cane decor continued - a light fixture? We converted an old t obacco drying basket into a light fixture. By suspending it upside down over a chandelier. We have beautiful edison bulbs in it that give off a very mellow glow. I was chewing on a large candy cane while making the candy cane wreath and then a light went off.haha I started draping the large candy canes over the wire basket. I love the look- added just the right amount of Red colored fun to the dining room. Saturday, December 13, 2014.
