The Buchans 2011: May 2011

http://www.thebuchans2011.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Monday, 30 May 2011. At Home – May. On the Sunday after our return from Bognor Regis Sue’s brother Neil and family came for Sunday lunch. Here we all are having a paper plane competition in the courtyard. Needless to say none of the adults won! Daniel’s first geocache! During the next week we brought the caravan to the house for the last time. The caravan had to be cleared out and cleaned for its collection at the weekend. The following day Udo and Martin came, from near Dusseldorf, to collect the carava...

The Buchans 2011: March 2011

http://www.thebuchans2011.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, 3 March 2011. Hout Bay (Afrikaans: Houtbaai. From the Dutch for "Wood Bay") is the name of a coastal suburb of Cape Town. We visited the local museum where you can find out all about the development of Hout Bay as an area which was rich in woodland. Hout Bay Harbour – always an interesting place with plenty going on. Something a seal eats a lot of – on the number plate of a car at the harbour fisheries. Here are just two the Knysna Loerie and Crowned Crane. Right - Relaxing after a hard morning...

The Buchans 2011: August 2011

http://www.thebuchans2011.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 23 August 2011. We went to Poole quay to watch the RNLI go through their paces. This year they set light to a tramp steamer (not really) and had to rescue the sailors, who just happened to be wearing dry suits. The day went very orange for a while. There was a good crowd on the beach and there were a few warm up events before the start at 1330. The Memorial Flight – Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire and Hurricane. Breitling wing walkers – spectacular stuff. Red Arrows - as usual fantastic. Quite some t...

The Buchans 2011: June 2011

http://www.thebuchans2011.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, 12 June 2011. France 2011–Granville and Penestin. We headed out from Poole, on the Barfleur, to Cherbourg. Although an overcast day there was no wind so the sea was flat calm. A new build at Sandbanks – another football manager’s house? In France we did a 60 mile drive to Granville which is in the bottom left corner of the Cotentin Peninsula and stayed at a very good site on the outskirts. Granville harbour Old timer caravan. Walking the walls of Granville – the mediaeval loo. Piriac sur Mer &#82...

The Buchans 2011: December 2011

http://www.thebuchans2011.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, 1 December 2011. Sue’s check up at Salisbury Hospital went well following the cataract operation so we decided to have a few days away in Cirencester. We did have a bit of a worry on the day of departure because her eye was slightly reddened so we rang the hospital and they thought everything should be OK. Some of the old doorways. Church of St. John the Baptist. Entrance gates to Cirencester Park. Cecily Hill is on the approach to the Park and the the Tontine Buildings are a significant part o...

Wednesday, 29 December 2010. Early December took us to the first of our Christmas festivities. We went to lunch with our Portsmouth friends. I won’t list everyone since you know who you are. We’ve had some very interesting weather this December as has the rest of the UK. Here is a photo from one of the better days. Ponies on Rockford Common. Peter and Sue -  chez nous. Then the snow came for a second time. View from the bedroom window before the rush hour began. I went back to bed. Ringwood in the snow.

Saturday, 27 December 2008. The weather on Christmas Day was exceptional, with bright sunny weather, unfortunately the temperatures remained low. Here is Sue on Christmas Day with everything done and dusted for lunch. Jane, Ron and Margaret joined us for lunch and we all had a great time. The beach at Branksome, it was very busy with most of Dorset and Hampshire promenading with their new bikes, scooters, roller skates and all things dangerous. Friday, 19 December 2008. The Buchans 2009

Tuesday, 29 December 2009. Christmas Day with a difference. Following my visit to the hospital I was expecting my next appointment in 5 weeks. On the 23. Dec I was contacted and offered an appointment on Christmas Eve (cancelled appointment? After this 2-hour visit, for the removal of sun damage, I left with 5 stitches and various pieces of sticking plaster holding me together. That evening we had our Christmas meal so we could have festive sandwiches on Sandbanks beach on Christmas Day! The 2010 blog ca...

The Buchans 2012

Friday, 21 December 2012. In and around Ringwood in early December we had quite a lot of flooding close to the River Avon. Unfortunately, the river flows close the town centre so quite a few properties were affected. Here you can see ponies on the meadows struggling to find something to eat. Flooding across the meadows. Ponies by the gate. Flooding in the Bickerley. Making the most of a sunny day – a walk around Mill Lawn, north of Burley. It was very wet and wellies were a necessity. Joy, Sue, Sue, Sybil.

Saturday, 21 December 2013. Year End - 2013. I’ve been out moving my geocaches around and this photo is from Bratley Wood, New Forest, where one of them is hidden. Near Bolderwood, New Forest. A Sunday morning turned into a real adventure. Two ponies helping me repair a puncture. There’s a really long story to this photo, but there just isn’t space to write it all down. I did get it repaired eventually. Stuart, Geoff and Glyn. Sybil, Joy and Sue Geoff and Glyn. Sue and Joy Sybil and Sue Jones. As you can...
