My Perfect Mai Tai. July 29th, 2013. Ah, the Mai Tai. Just saying it takes you to the ocean, tiny little umbrella in your drink, skin toasty from the sun, plumeria in your hair. Well, a REAL Mai Tai would do that. But unfortunately, the Mai Tai has taken some abuse on the Mainland. Adding things like orange juice…maraschino cherries (and juice…ick). The only juice in Trader Vic’s original recipe (1944) was fresh-squeezed lime juice, and it’s a tasty little concoction:. Add juice from one fresh lime.
