Find Me On Ravelry! The often absent “blogger”. Posted in Fun with fiber. That’s got a fitting ring to it doesn’t it? Hello folks, I’m back and I’ve missed you all. I didn’t mean to take off, but we have been having a fun busy summer filled with trips to the park and plenty of outdoor fun. Toph and the kids built a fort. We’ve been berry picking. And tubing down the river. Toph has been making ginger ale. And I have been canning. And I’ve managed to get some crochet work in! Have a great week Folks!

Find Me On Ravelry! Tag Archives: i-cord tutorial. Posted in Sharing is caring! Today I want to talk about tubular stitching and why I cannot for the life of me, find a tutorial on this subject. I can find tubular cast on, I can find tubular bind off, but I cannot find tubular stitch. Get with the program Internet. There is a project I started years ago, when I got the very first Jane Austen Knits, it was a beautiful short stay. Figured out how to do a tubular stitch. Let us get started shall we. Cast on...

Find Me On Ravelry! Category Archives: Fun with fiber. Spinning, knitting, and crochet. When the kids are away, Mom will crochet! Posted in Fun with fiber. Well this is new, I don’t usually get the chance to sit down at my computer and write out an entry. Usually I update from my ipad and that update usually takes a good 6-7 hours to complete, between kids, and animals, and whatever else happens to stop me. This weekend my father his the big one, that number that gets him discounts that everyone is envio...

Find Me On Ravelry! Tag Archives: Jane Austen. A few rows short of a blanket. Posted in Fun with fiber. Last time on ‘The Year I Made My Own Clothes’. I had an 8 year old. I was crocheting a mermaids tail blanket. I found some neat artwork. And we had a lot of snow. Well, I now have a NINE year old 😳, the mermaids tail blanket is almost. Finished, turns out my girl had a bit of a growth spurt (I also apparently used the wrong size crochet hook for twelve rows 😭) so I am adding rows to the top. Lorelai,...

Usually I update from my ipad and that update usually takes a good 6-7 hours to complete, between kids, and animals, and whatever else happens to stop me. These items are still with me, though not for long as they will be headed to our local village store next week (hopefully with matching gloves or mittens). He will be...

Random posts about things I am doing or thinking. Some of what there is to know about me. As a result, we decide in January when our vacations for the year will be. And this one always seems to take the longest to get here. It is tough to go all summer working while everyone else has vacation time. But then, September finally arrives and we get to relax and enjoy chilling for a whole week. So what are we doing this week? Well, since it is Monday, we have already had two days of it – how it flies! Obvious...

Random posts about things I am doing or thinking. Some of what there is to know about me. In which I am able to show you photos of TWO finished objects! Yesterday, A, her sister L, and our friend Crimson Crow, otherwise known as B came over and helped me set up the pool! She helped me assemble the filter, and we were done! No more posts for you about prepping for the pool. Now, there will be posts about swimming and doing yard work all around it, lol, I left a big mess! The knitting is different now, aft...

Random posts about things I am doing or thinking. Some of what there is to know about me. Drum roll, please! A and I are both off this week, so it won’t be the kind of list you are used to, maybe, but here it is –. The PO is on it – one of us will have to go as it has been a week. Waiting for the pool water to be delivered – HURRAH! I know it will be cold, but I am OK with that – timing is good, the weekend promises to be hot. 🙂. Working in the neglected gardens. Cleaning the neglected house. We plan to...
Every Character is Their Own Hero | Adventures in Writing

Every Character is Their Own Hero. August 13, 2015. Writing fantasy (or any genre, but it seems especially true for fantasy) takes a lot of characters. Because I write fantasy, I’ll be talking about that and largely ignoring other genres. Sorry! I saw a chart recently that listed the characters introduced in the first chapters of some popular books. They were all upwards of 20 characters. In fairness: that does not necessarily mean 20. Lord of the Rings. How, then, do we combat this? Back story. When...
Grief | Adventures in Writing
https://emilyramos.wordpress.com/2015/08/10/grief
August 10, 2015. I’ve always said that I want to experience as much of the world and life as I can, not only to inform my writing but to become a more whole person. Today I regret ever asking for “as much of life as possible” because I hate the hard times. I know that my cat is no longer in pain. I know that someday this grief will subside into bittersweet memories. Every Character is Their Own Hero. August 17, 2015 at 3:01 am. I am so sorry for your loss. xxx. August 11, 2015 at 1:07 am. Tips for gettin...

Random posts about things I am doing or thinking. Some of what there is to know about me. I got it all lined up. Called the local pool store, found out who to call for water. Called them Tuesday. Swallowed my shock at the price and said yes, send a truck, please. As they instructed, called back the next day to confirm (? Made all the plans around a delivery at an unknown time. Got a call at 8:30 this morning. Excited! They were coming earlier than I could have hoped for! It isn’t really on GPS. I’l...

The Year I Got My Life Back. Cofessions of a S x Addict. August 13, 2012. I believe the farther you get away from an experience or crisis, the less it defines your life. Jesus said, “. I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. 8221; (John 16:33). The Year I lived off of Ramen Noodles. The not so private diary of a broken woman. Monday, January 24, 2011. New Year New Start. This week would have marked one year on this blog.
The Year in Beer | Month by month and sip by sip.
The Year in Beer. Month by month and sip by sip. Long Trail Unfiltered Pumpkin Ale. November 2, 2014. Bridgewaters Corner, VT. Hazy, deep amber body with a frothy white head. This is pretty much exactly what I would expect from a Pumpkin Ale–a mediocre malt aroma with some pumpkin pie spices. Of the pumpkin ales I have sampled this seasons, this seems the most promising based purely on scent. Well, this is MEH: Part 2! NON PLUS POUR MOI, MADAME! And to end this review on a rhyme-y note:. October 30, 2014.
My Year in Books
My Year in Books. Sunday, November 15, 2009. The Cider House Rules. Irving's mastery at characterization is unparalleled and it is apparent in this novel, where each of the characters seem so real and consistent and ultimately, because of that consistency, frustrating. Based on this and the other book of hers I have read (Untouched), Anna Campbell seems to specialize in tortured, psychologically decimated heroes. It is a trope I love, even if I do question, particularly in this case, whether the whol...

The year I never said no. Try again, Fail again, Fail Better. Why an Italian atheist should thank France for the burkini affair. August 19, 2016. August 19, 2016. Yes, it’s highly uncomfortable to swim in what basically feels like a bag of fabric that drags you to the bottom. Possibly unsafe too. Also, it defies the purpose of going to the beach… freedom, sun on your skin, getting tanned, dusting sand off with a hand. Now, I firmly believe in atheism. no one will ever convince me that there’s a...I’...
