Orange Olive Oil Cake. Papaya Lime Sorbet →. August 27, 2013. Where’s the ice cream? I know, it’s been too long since my last ice cream post. I’ve been traveling, growing tomatoes in the backyard, and working. Taking a brief hiatus from my ice cream machine but will be back posting frozen treats soon. Posted in Non-Recipe Posts. Simple Honey Ice Cream →. October 1, 2013. I could photograph this sorbet all day, it’s so colorful. Here’s the recipe, from. By David Lebovitz. I upped the lime juice here, which I recommend. Makes about 1.5 pints). 2 lbs papayas (about 2-3 small papayas). 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (from about 3-4 limes). 1) Cut the papayas in half and remove seeds with a spoon. Scoop out remaining fruit into a blender. 2) Add all remaining ingredients to blender, then puree until smooth. Adventures in Ice Cre...

Chamomile Honey Coconut Ice Cream →. Simple Honey Ice Cream. October 10, 2013. And now, for a small announcement. I’m in cooking school! Simple Honey Ice Cream. Makes about 1 pint). 2 cups heavy cream. 1 cup whole milk. 1 tsp vanilla extract. 1) Prepare an ice bath and have a glass or non-reactive metal bowl nearby. 2) Pour hot mixture into bowl and then place bowl in ice bath. Chamomile Honey Coconut Ice Cream. February 2, 2014. Ns are fed cooled chamomile tea shortly after birth to calm them. I found this recipe through the Big Sur Bakery, a favorite destination restaurant on Hwy 1 in Big Sur. When I’ve been there, its usually damp, dark weather with magical mists filtering through redwood trees. So, on this rainy day, a healthy, comforting ice cream recipe from Big Sur seems appropriate. Chamomile Honey Coconut Ice Cream. Adapted from the Big Sur Bakery. About 10 minutes bef...

The Bleu Goose: Peek at the Week - Week of September 24

Friday, September 28, 2012. Peek at the Week - Week of September 24. Peek at the Week - Week of September 24. Great food news of the week:. The much buzzed about new rustic chic bar, Phoenix opened its doors this week. Phoenix is from the owners of Surely Goat, one of my Hollywood favorite spots. Rumor has it that Stone Brewery is looking at opening a Los Angeles location in the near future, I hope it mirrors the San Diego location with a tasting room, brewery and a beautifully set, delicious restaurant.

Wednesday, 27 February 2013. Another Kitchen Sink Salad. I have talked about "kitchen sink salads" before. The general idea is to put in as many ingredients, colors, and flavors as possible, with equal parts lettuce and everything else. This may have been the most elaborate (and biggest) one I have ever done. I was inspired by the bag of fresh black kale my wonderful husband picked up at the farm shop, and by this recipe. I found on my sister's pinterest board. Posted by liz evans. Posted by liz evans.

November 07, 2013. How Many Pounds of Carrots Can You Harvest Per Square Foot? Friends, I am about to share with you some shocking carrot statistics. The other day, I harvested a 2-foot-by-2-foot patch of carrots from my garden. I stashed my harvest in the fridge until I could deal with it, and tonight I washed, sliced and blanched the carrots, to get them ready for the freezer. From that 4 square feet of growing space, I ended up with three bags of carrots, totaling 8 pounds. EIGHT pounds! If you happen...

And other random things. Find Me On Ravelry! The often absent “blogger”. Posted in Fun with fiber. That’s got a fitting ring to it doesn’t it? Hello folks, I’m back and I’ve missed you all. I didn’t mean to take off, but we have been having a fun busy summer filled with trips to the park and plenty of outdoor fun. Toph and the kids built a fort. We’ve been berry picking. And tubing down the river. Toph has been making ginger ale. And I have been canning. And I’ve managed to get some crochet work in!

The Year in Beer | Month by month and sip by sip.
The Year in Beer. Month by month and sip by sip. Long Trail Unfiltered Pumpkin Ale. November 2, 2014. Bridgewaters Corner, VT. Hazy, deep amber body with a frothy white head. This is pretty much exactly what I would expect from a Pumpkin Ale–a mediocre malt aroma with some pumpkin pie spices. Of the pumpkin ales I have sampled this seasons, this seems the most promising based purely on scent. Well, this is MEH: Part 2! NON PLUS POUR MOI, MADAME! And to end this review on a rhyme-y note:. October 30, 2014.
My Year in Books
My Year in Books. Sunday, November 15, 2009. The Cider House Rules. Irving's mastery at characterization is unparalleled and it is apparent in this novel, where each of the characters seem so real and consistent and ultimately, because of that consistency, frustrating. Based on this and the other book of hers I have read (Untouched), Anna Campbell seems to specialize in tortured, psychologically decimated heroes. It is a trope I love, even if I do question, particularly in this case, whether the whol...

The year I never said no. Try again, Fail again, Fail Better. Why an Italian atheist should thank France for the burkini affair. August 19, 2016. August 19, 2016. Yes, it’s highly uncomfortable to swim in what basically feels like a bag of fabric that drags you to the bottom. Possibly unsafe too. Also, it defies the purpose of going to the beach… freedom, sun on your skin, getting tanned, dusting sand off with a hand. Now, I firmly believe in atheism. no one will ever convince me that there’s a...I’...

The Year in London. London through the eyes of an MA student new to the city. November 2, 2014. Moments in Tate’s Members’ Rooms.
