On January 30th, i completed my first marathon. it really was a lot of fun for the majority of the race. i think i had the benefit of longer races under my belt. since the half ironmans take closer to 6 hours, 4 hours seemed short even though it was all running! I know, it is crazy that i even say that! I started out too quickly with 8 minute miles for the first 3 miles or so. that is a reasonable pace for a 10K or something.but not 26.2 miles! Just across the finish line!

If you are anything like me (or my family), we love year-in-review things. usa today did a pretty good recap. i had forgotten about some of the events.i just wish they would include more positive events too! Wednesday, March 31, 2010. There is something so neat about a little letter getting across the country with a sticky thing saying 42 cents. Sunday, March 28, 2010. With all this health care talk going on in the US, i thought i'd just point out some differences between health care in the US and Niger. Health care is self-pay only in Niger. in Galmi, where i was, the most expensive surgery was around $140. In the states, no one would come at 8 or 9 o'clock for an appointment that wouldn't happen until 3:00.

Saturday, January 1, 2011. It is hard to believe that another year has come a gone. here are some highlights of my past year:. I did an extraordinary amount of travelling this year.whether for work or fun. when i think through things.i have been to NYC twice, Indianapolis twice, grand rapids, omaha, vancouver, ecuador, colombia, chili, france, niger, and israel. i'm sure there were a couple more domestic flights! Angie and Meridth both got married. so fun to be a part of it all! The Great Adventure Begins.

I was in indianapolis this weekend. this trip had been planned for about 5 weeks, but the recent engagement of my best friend definitely made the trip important. i was able to meet angie's fiance, kerwyn. it is a little whirlwind romance and they are getting married in july. it is crazy how fast things can change.
