Adventures in Tokyoland and the Japantown. Wednesday, July 25, 2007. The end of the summer semester is almost here. Well technically I guess it is here because all that's left is finals. I learned a great deal this semester, mostly that I will never again take four courses over the summer semester. Also, I learned that having a different day off every week is a really stupid idea and that whoever came up with it should be flogged accordingly. Posted by Jon J. Jon's Blog: Ashes and Snow

http://www.tujnn-summer07-jjamieson.blogspot.com/2007/06/ashes-and-snow.html

Adventures in Tokyoland and the Japantown. Monday, June 18, 2007. I'm finding it a bit difficult to pin down my exact feelings on the"Ashes and Snow" exhibit by Gregory Colbert. I think it may be best to share with you the artist's statement before getting into my own feelings. Sounds a little pretentious. That pretty much sums up my feelings on the exhibit. Give me a break. Adventures in Tokyoland and the Japantown. Monday, June 11, 2007. Hand in the bag. I can't say that what you would find in my bag would be anything out of the ordinary. There isn't really anything of significant emotional or physical value in its contents. It mostly serves the purpose of a book bag. My iPod is a mainstay. Sometimes I just can't make up my mind if I want to listen to music and play solitaire on the train or read a book. I've found it's good to have both. Options work nice. Posted by Jon J.

Adventures in Tokyoland and the Japantown. Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Bathes. Roland. (? So I'm not really sure who wrote this last handout we recieved ( I asume his name has something to do with this blog's title) but I think most of it is a pretty dry text. It is beyond me how someone can make Japan boring, but hey, this person suceeded in doing so. But anyways, It got me thinking about some things. Okay, I'm kind of getting off track here. Jon's Blog: Random thoughts, statements, and accusations about this land they call Japan.

http://www.tujnn-summer07-jjamieson.blogspot.com/2007/06/random-thoughts-statements-and.html

Adventures in Tokyoland and the Japantown. Monday, June 25, 2007. Random thoughts, statements, and accusations about this land they call Japan. Why do we call it Japan when Japanese call it Nippon or Nihon? It's like Germany and Deutschland. How many other names of countries do we butcher? What's with the random lotto stalls. I hardly see anybody ever buying a ticket but these things are all over the place! Can I buy one? And how would I know if I won? At four in the morning? Upon entering a store? Beer ...

Hitomi's blog Neighbourhood Narratives summer2007: Project's done

http://tujnn-summer07-hnagano.blogspot.com/2007/07/international-project.html

Monday, July 23, 2007. For my International project, my group's theme would be "human interaction". We will decide two routs, door to door, and transpotation would be either of train, bus, walk, taxi, car. Taxi works in Rome but it is not option for me because it's very expensive in Japan, as everyone knows. So I will do bus and walk. I wanted to do on train, but it will be not working since I use subway. During I trace my way with GPS, I would take pictures and video recording, and observation.

Erika's Tokyo Narative: May 2007

http://tujnn-summer07-earagon.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, 31 May 2007. Rules We Learn to Follow. We talked in class about the social standards that we adjust to when we move to a new place. Like how in Tokyo it’s inappropriate to walk while you eat. There are customs and rules that we have to learn when we’re trying to assimilate into a new culture. Wednesday, 30 May 2007. I arrived at about 6:45 and outside of the building there are 173 bikes. Thankfully, he has. It started raining really hard again, so I walked home. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Erika's Tokyo Narative: More Observations

http://tujnn-summer07-earagon.blogspot.com/2007/06/more-observations.html

Wednesday, 20 June 2007. We've mentioned a few times in class that there are rules that everyone's following in Japan and I've really been noticing many people and their behaviors, especially the people who are not following the "rules". What are you doing? You're not supposed to eat and walk down the street." So instead of just eating in happily, he tried to eat it as quickly as possible. Neighborhood Narrative

Wednesday, July 25, 2007. International Project was a good chance to explore my neighborhood. By using two ways of transportation, I was able to see the two different views. I could see where I live actually on the day. This is my first time to see me as an artist. What I felt before taking this course is that I was not an artist. So, I have never thought I could be an artist. The fact was not. Having a chance to express or show his/her work to someone, anybody can be an artist. More like it is free.

In Tokyo, I can't play it in so many places. But Chiba is welcome to play. Anytime and anywhere. We can play it loudly without caring of noise. I went to the exhibition of Gregory Colbert “ashes and snow” in Odaiba. One thins I notice is a book. Some of picture, a human has a book and reads to the an elephant. What it does imply? The book indicates the humam's wisdom. Human can speak, invent the characters, and record the incidets to the book. Animals can not do that. Therefore, the book shows the difference between humans and amimals. We are all same creature in one earth. What's in my bag? This is important tool for me, the electronic dictiona...
