Erika's Tokyo Narative: July 2007

http://tujnn-summer07-earagon.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 25 July 2007. I didn't think I was going to like using Google Earth because I thought it was going to much more difficult that it actually was. The most difficult thing about finishing the project was trying to capture the screen without making any mistakes! Wednesday, 4 July 2007. Revision to my Final Project Idea. Erika's Tokyo Narative: May 2007

http://tujnn-summer07-earagon.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, 31 May 2007. Rules We Learn to Follow. We talked in class about the social standards that we adjust to when we move to a new place. Like how in Tokyo it’s inappropriate to walk while you eat. There are customs and rules that we have to learn when we’re trying to assimilate into a new culture. Wednesday, 30 May 2007. I arrived at about 6:45 and outside of the building there are 173 bikes. Thankfully, he has. It started raining really hard again, so I walked home. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Erika's Tokyo Narative: More Observations

http://tujnn-summer07-earagon.blogspot.com/2007/06/more-observations.html

Wednesday, 20 June 2007. We've mentioned a few times in class that there are rules that everyone's following in Japan and I've really been noticing many people and their behaviors, especially the people who are not following the "rules". What are you doing? You're not supposed to eat and walk down the street." So instead of just eating in happily, he tried to eat it as quickly as possible. Another man was doing something even more bizarre! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Whats in your bag?

Wednesday, 4 July 2007. Revision to my Final Project Idea. Instead of exploring my neighborhood, I'm going to plot the places I've met people and link the bubbles on MyMap to stories and pictures about how I've met these people and what I've learned about them. Erika's Tokyo Narative: International Project

http://tujnn-summer07-earagon.blogspot.com/2007/06/international-project.html

Thursday, 21 June 2007. My international project group mentioned the topic of activities that can be accomplished on the train, which is kind of interesting. I don't know that many of the Tokyo people on trains get a whole lot finished in that time, but there surely are many things going on in that time. There are a lot of sleepy people on the trains. They seem to ride the trains just to sleep. It always makes me feel uncomfortable when the person next to me sleeps and I never sleep on the train.

Thursday, 21 June 2007. Learning about all of the new equipment has been really exciting this week. I've been using the audio recorders in my podcasting class so that piece of equipment wasn't new to me, but the video cameras and the GPS trackers were new. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Erika's Tokyo Narative: Ashes and Snow

http://tujnn-summer07-earagon.blogspot.com/2007/06/ashes-and-snow.html

Thursday, 21 June 2007. What are some of the themes that the artist attempts to represent in his works? Is the artist attempting to document the interactions between humans and animals? If so, would you consider these documents similar to a snapshot, or does the artist attempt to romanticize the relationships? What are some of the ideological references implicit in the art, such as race, class, settings, etc? How do you think the formal stylistic techniques help convey the art’s meaning? If so, how?

Erika's Tokyo Narative: Prestige

http://tujnn-summer07-earagon.blogspot.com/2007/06/prestige.html

Thursday, 21 June 2007. Two weekends ago I went to Meiji Temple with a friend of mine. We had decided to walk there while we waited for some friends to arrive and we were fortunate enough to walk in as a wedding procession passed. It was really amazing to see the people, but more interesting that that was what my friend was telling me about weddings. Status, of course. If you have your wedding here then everybody knows you have. A lot of money.". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Whats in your bag?

Neighborhood Narrative

Wednesday, July 25, 2007. International Project was a good chance to explore my neighborhood. By using two ways of transportation, I was able to see the two different views. I could see where I live actually on the day. This is my first time to see me as an artist. What I felt before taking this course is that I was not an artist. So, I have never thought I could be an artist. The fact was not. Having a chance to express or show his/her work to someone, anybody can be an artist. More like it is free.

Jon's Blog

Adventures in Tokyoland and the Japantown. Wednesday, July 25, 2007. The end of the summer semester is almost here. Well technically I guess it is here because all that's left is finals. I learned a great deal this semester, mostly that I will never again take four courses over the summer semester. Also, I learned that having a different day off every week is a really stupid idea and that whoever came up with it should be flogged accordingly. Posted by Jon J. So now I just have to finish putting this thi...

Neighborhood Narrative Summer 2007

Neighborhood Narrative Summer 2007. Wednesday, July 25, 2007. Chiba is more than Tokyo when I play Djembe (African Drum.). What is good for Chiba is that there is much more nature than Tokyo. In Tokyo, I can't play it in so many places. But Chiba is welcome to play. Anytime and anywhere. We can play it loudly without caring of noise. Today, I drived to Chiba minato with my favorite Djembe. When I played it, people who has Djembe came to my place and. Jammed together. That was so much fun. For example, if...

New Media

I went to the exhibition of Gregory Colbert “ashes and snow” in Odaiba. One thins I notice is a book. Some of picture, a human has a book and reads to the an elephant. What it does imply? The book indicates the humam's wisdom. Human can speak, invent the characters, and record the incidets to the book. Animals can not do that. Therefore, the book shows the difference between humans and amimals. We are all same creature in one earth. What's in my bag? This is important tool for me, the electronic dictiona...
