Fuggled: The Session #99 - Roundup
http://www.fuggled.net/2015/05/the-session-99-roundup.html
Drink Responsibly, Don't Spill. Saturday, May 9, 2015. The Session #99 - Roundup. Well, that was the Session that was, and this is the round up that is. The theme for Session #99 was on localising mild, and we got an interesting array of responses. Over in Ireland, The Beer Nut. Got 'historically pedantic' and pointed out that most modern beer would be considered 'mild' due to the focus on freshness. Staying in Ireland, The Drunken Destrier. Meanwhile, my good friend Reuben of The Tale of the Ale. Stan H...

It's a Velky World: Recovered Memories
http://velkyal.blogspot.com/2011/09/recovered-memories.html
It's a Velky World. Thursday, September 15, 2011. I enjoy taking photos, indeed at my parents' place in France there are boxes of photos I took in the dim and distant past before I got a digital camera. It is only in the last few months that I have been able to retrieve a lot of my photos because they were on the hard drive of my old laptop that died. Just round the corner from our flat was this tower and church, and we would walk by them several times a day. In the final months we lived in Prague, Mrs V...

It's a Velky World: February 2010
http://velkyal.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
It's a Velky World. Monday, February 22, 2010. I Guess I Just Ain't Good Enough. Being something of a nit picker, my first thought is "good for who? Is America good for the Palestinians living in camps being radicalised by an American backed Israel? Is America good for the poor of its own nation who can't afford health insurance, while health insurance companies lobby openly to have its own customer base dwindled to only those with enough money to pay ridiculous premiums? The family is sacred. My spo...

It's a Velky World: May 2010
http://velkyal.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
It's a Velky World. Friday, May 07, 2010. Westminster Must Learn from Holyrood. It is clear that the "first past the post" electoral system used in the UK is unrepresentative in an age of party politics. No-one in their right mind can claim that it is a fair result when the Liberal Democrats win a 23% share of the vote and get about 50 parliamentary seats, whereas the Labour Party get a mere 6% more of the popular vote but 200 more seats than the Lib Dems. Do we go to a system of party lists, where the s...

It's a Velky World: March 2010

It's a Velky World. Monday, March 29, 2010. The Need for Continued Reform. This brings me to my second reform for the political world, an end to having a "lifetime of service" by limiting the number of terms a person can serve in a given political office, one way of achieving this could be done by enforcing political retirement at 65, which would also have the added benefit of the political system becoming less dominated by old men, which is never a bad thing really. Fuggled: In Pursuit of Impartiality
http://www.fuggled.net/2015/06/in-pursuit-of-impartiality.html
Drink Responsibly, Don't Spill. Monday, June 22, 2015. In Pursuit of Impartiality. Anyway, this has been pottering around in my head a bit of late, so I decided to buy a single can of classic Budweiser, try and remove my blinkers and actually evaluate the beer as a beer rather than a monolithic straw man for the little guys to denounce as the source of all zythophilic evil. So here goes. Taste - 1.5/5. Posted by Alistair Reece. June 22, 2015 at 10:57 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). El Segundo Bre...
