The Bittersweet City: Flutter (A Short Story, Not At All Autobiographical)

http://thebittersweetcity.blogspot.com/2015/08/flutter-short-story-not-at-all.html

Thursday, August 6, 2015. Flutter (A Short Story, Not At All Autobiographical). The idea had come to her in a Williamsburg bookshop. She had picked up a series of travel essays about Iceland, and she’d fallen in love with the photos; her glacial eyes gleaming at finding such serene blues on the book jacket. They had picked the Harpa concert hall as their meeting point. “We can pick up our own symphony where we left off,” she had said. They whatsapped their salads to one another. Follow The Great British Challenge and What I Ate Last Night on Twitter. Day 68 - Melton Mowbray Pork pie. Hailing from Melton Mowbray, the pork pie has hardly changed since the middle ages. It's best when it's baked free standing. not an easy task as you can see on The Great British Bake off challenges! And injected with a savoury jelly. I LOVE them - especially with a good dollop of homemade Piccalilli and a nice cup of tea. This history of the Melton Mowbray pork pie. Day 65 - St Pirans Day and pasties.

The Bittersweet City: Ahora Caigo

http://thebittersweetcity.blogspot.com/2014/06/ahora-caigo.html

Tuesday, June 10, 2014. And other words that end in an A sound. The truth is we've not had much time, or many euros to spare. Oh, eff off, you live in a sunny place, I hear you protest. You can walk to a beach, you lucky biscuit. ¡Callate, puedes caminar a la playa, eres afortunada! So that's why ditching the city for this place for a bit was much needed. See how it makes the Mister look positively catalogue-model winsome? Quite literally, Now I Fall, or Now I Get It! You know the format, but did you kno...

The Bittersweet City: February 2014

http://thebittersweetcity.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 28, 2014. Just a short one, this month. The month and the post. Short because I'm aware that I've already broken my new year's resolution to post once per month, if you count that I'm an hour and 18 minutes into March already. (OK, for you in the UK it's only 18 - wait, no, 19 minutes in. Well, what is there to say about February? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. The Bittersweet City: February 2015

http://thebittersweetcity.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Tuesday, February 24, 2015. I recently saw Wild. It’s not often I’m driven to write about a film, but I feel very moved by this one. It’s going to stay with me for a while. I think it was Legally Blonde. That did the damage. I liked her in Four Christmases. But ye ole faithful – loneliness – set in. (The radio, I’m hoping, will assist with the loneliness but won’t kill all the brain cells that a TV would). Having seen all of the films at my closest cinema – save American Sniper. And the cowboy that's lov...

The Bittersweet City: Alone in New York

http://thebittersweetcity.blogspot.com/2014/12/alone-in-new-york.html

Monday, December 15, 2014. Alone in New York. I was reading about love; the pure and unconditional love of a mother for her child aged six, and suddenly I felt older and emptier. My life felt so comparatively narcissistic. Suddenly I wanted to grasp a small hand, more than anything. It was all rather sad. Anyone. Just watching and listening, making mental notes and trying to stave off the certain loneliness that came from arriving home to nothing and to no-one. So what's the remedy? Or money for hot meals.

The Bittersweet City: Fit.

http://thebittersweetcity.blogspot.com/2010/02/fit.html

Saturday, February 27, 2010. I'm beginning to feel a bit old all of a sudden. I sound so old. Anyway, I'm learning a lot from them - particularly as far as vocabulary is concerned. Because Aaron and I share an office, I often overhear their conversations. One of Aaron's common favourites is to dial Jane in the next office over and do an impression of Anne, the mental poo-smearing patient from Little Britain whose catchphrase is " eh-eh-ehhhhh. Maybe three or four times a day. Oh, the things I've learned!

http://thebittersweetcity.blogspot.com/2014/08/32.html

Monday, August 25, 2014. Today is my birthday. I arrived in New York 13 days ago, and I'm missing my family acutely. The Mister is still in Barcelona, working hard, and working on a plan to visit me here, as am I planning a half-term break to return to my beloved Barna. Today was also the first day at the new school with returning staff coming back (last week I was oriented amongst other brand-new staff only). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Bittersweet City: January 2014

http://thebittersweetcity.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 8, 2014. January, Day 8. One of my new years' resolutions for 2014 has been to write at least a post a month on here, something I didn't manage last year with the upheaval of moving country. So I'm going to try to get January's post in nice and early. Here's wishing you a very happy, healthy, prosperous new year full of childlike wonderment and new things to make you go all slackjawed. Here's to 2014. Things I ♥. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Barcelona, 19 May, ...

What I Ate for Breakfast. 8230;and for the rest of the day. The web is filled with weight loss blogs, juicing blogs, exercise blogs, vegan blogs, eat-only-bacon blogs. So, why bother? As the years have crept by, so has my weight. And, lately, it’s been leaping more than creeping. It’s time to get it together and go public. I’m also tired of the oh-so-serious blogs about weight loss. Why so grim, my chubby friends? Proudly powered by WordPress. Theme: Bushwick by James Dinsdale.

What I Ate Today. 8230;and what happened next. July 23, 2015. I’m not a laugh out loud kind of person. Regularly, I smile, giggle a little to myself, but rarely do I break out in laugh out loud kind of way. Yes, I think things are funny, hell, half of my work centers around comedy. It’s not that I don’t have a sense of humor, it’s just the way I express it. I literally spit out my meal… spinach and sunflower seeds sputtered across my desk. What is this thing! July 20, 2015.
