Writing For Joy

Tuesday, May 7, 2013. Pain is the Spur — short story by Gladys Hobson (G B Hobson). Pain is the Spur. Freda read the damning remarks written with the appraiser’s red pen, which had been applied — with a generosity akin to a banker’s pension — over her entire manuscript. Being so painful to read, it might as well have been written in her own blood. Cliché appeared to be written so many times that she wondered if Brent, the reviewer, could only write in clichés himself. 8220;I will not cry, I will not.

Writing For Joy: Spring Has Arrived!

http://writingforjoy.blogspot.com/2012/03/spring-has-arrived.html

Monday, March 26, 2012. We returned from a four night break (part of it visiting Derbyshire where we had our honeymoon 59 years ago) and found that spring had truly sprung in our garden! While we were away we visited lovely places — Carsington Reservoir, Belper Riverside gardens, Buxton Park, Monsel Trail, Attenborough Nature Reserve, Wollaton Park, Chatsworth Garden Centre. Adding up the miles we did a fair bit of walking for a pair of wrinklies. Labels: Belper River Gardens. Interesting Places To Visit.

Writing For Joy: February 2012

Monday, February 6, 2012. A Lovely Day For a Funeral. A Lovely Day For a Funeral — a funeral for a lovely lady! It is little more than a week ago that I was visiting this lady in hospital. And now I shall be attending her funeral. Will it be a bright celebration of a life well lived? I hope so, because although she will be greatly missed and many will be grieving, not least her adoring husband and family, this is a lady whose long life never grew dim — until her strength was fully exhausted. Thoughts of ...

Writing For Joy: Spring… Beauty and the Beast

http://writingforjoy.blogspot.com/2012/04/spring-beauty-and-beast.html

Thursday, April 19, 2012. Spring… Beauty and the Beast. And yet a beast lurks among my pretty maidens. In fact, a number of them. The hard-leafed evergreen plants — particularly Camellias and Rhododendrons (about 50 plants) — are becoming affected with sooty mould Cushion Scale. It is all over the garden. Something to do with climate change? Lovely photos- How about a little story Gladys. April 27, 2012 at 3:11 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My Other Blogs and Publishing Sites. The Diary of a Country Lady: The Last Post

http://diaryofacountrylady.blogspot.com/2011/04/last-post.html

The Diary of a Country Lady. Saturday, April 30, 2011. My thanks to all visitors and especially those who have left comments. Of course, IF I am suddenly inspired to write another novel and the characters refuse to stay dormant in my head, then write I must. But that will mean less blogging, not more! I have started on art work again. Walking is getting harder but best to make the most of what can be done even if it has to be done slower. Sitting too long at one time is not good! The Diary of a Country Lady. Thursday, January 20, 2011. Walking the Hoad Footpath in Winter Sunshine. A sunny day in January and what better activity than to go for a walk? Soon after arriving home, a heartwarming sunset! I think it is true that a lot of people suffer mild depression at this time of the year (SAD). The usual dark, cold, wet days often cause a feeling of weariness. How lucky we are to have footpaths almost from our doorstep! Tuesday, January 18, 2011. When I started writing about ten yea...

The Diary of a Country Lady: September 2010

http://diaryofacountrylady.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

The Diary of a Country Lady. Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Walking in Nottingham University Park, we crossed the lower end of the lake by walking over the stepping stones. It is a beautiful spot with waterfall and rocks, surrounded by mature trees — a mini-paradise. This is a place we visited when I was a young child up to my adulthood. So many steps taken along that road to where I am now. Never did I think I would write books, or train to be a teacher. Labels: become as a child. Solomon in all his glory?

The Diary of a Country Lady. Monday, May 31, 2010. Comforting Words and Ecstatic Experiences — reflections on the Psalms. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me. So high that I cannot endure it. Even looking at a rich blue sky through a copper beech can bring tears to one's eyes. Or to look at distant mountains with wispy clouds crowning the summits. Thousands upon thousands of riches that are ours — if we are willing to open our eyes. Joy is just a blink away. Sunday, May 30, 2010. We all need time to b...

The Diary of a Country Lady: October 2010

http://diaryofacountrylady.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

The Diary of a Country Lady. Tuesday, October 26, 2010. It reminded me of St Paul's saying about reflections in a mirror 'but then we shall see face to face, and know as we are known'. All we see now may pass away, but to believers what remains is eternal. Saturday, October 16, 2010. He who comes to me I will give him living water welling up into Eternal Life.' The Diary of a Country Lady: Living Water!

http://diaryofacountrylady.blogspot.com/2011/03/living-water.html

The Diary of a Country Lady. Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Jesus sometimes spoke of Living Water — the water that he gives to believers, water that He connects to Life Eternal, a spring bubbling up for all to receive. Bubbling up! That is what seemed to be happening when I had the Holy Spirit entering into my life. For a while I would suddenly be overtaken with JOY bubbling up, impossible to contain. It just had to be released! Living water. joy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Pride Before a Fall!

Because the self is always created, isn't it? Monday, January 30, 2012. I've made two promises to myself this year: one, I will finally lose some baby weight I've carried around for twelve years, and two, I will prepare one of my three, potential books for publication. I have eleven months to complete these goals. Both, I believe, are obtainable. So, why am I blogging? Links to this post. Monday, August 31, 2009. Links to this post. Thursday, July 16, 2009. Shaey Anthony Joy despite the pain is not denial but a necessity! Prayer and Share Corner. There have been so many quick changes for me personally in the last year. Recently the foster babies returned home and it was unexpected on our end. We knew they would return for sure, but thought they would be with us for a few more months. So now I am left with the question, what next? I keep hearing, “just wait.” But wait for what? Then again I hear, “just wait.”. My boys are all grown for the most part and I th...

Dear (insert name here). Letters, letters galore. On August 8, 2011. We are watching the riots, we are watching the riots and we are observers. These actions are beyond our experience and probably outside our comfort zone. How do we deal with the scared bystanders running down fire escapes to be confronted with mass vandalism? I was particularly taken with the illustrations (superb) & the poem sidebars (fun, informative, very creative). We were honoured to receive a letter from Dr. Stephen Herrero.
