Writing a Living Epistle: January 2015

http://www.writinglivingepistles.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

About This Blog/ Me. Monday, January 26, 2015. I seem to have forgotten a great deal lately, what with the never-ending sinus infection and all. By the way, if I ran into you and didn't seem too talkative recently, I apologize. I don't think well when I don't breathe well, hence the forgetfulness. At least I have remembered some amusing things. Wanting to put stamps in her passport. Well, she doesn't have a passport. I. Do, but she doesn't - not yet at least. She does. Bart is out of town. again. Be trad...

Writing a Living Epistle: So It Is August

http://www.writinglivingepistles.com/2015/08/so-it-is-august.html

About This Blog/ Me. So It Is August. Monday, August 3, 2015. And so it is now August, the month our family has simultaneously looked forward to and also somewhat dreaded. Ladybug starts preschool three weeks from today. As I turned the Frozen calendar in her bedroom from July to August this weekend, I pointed out her first day of school to her, "This day is your first day of school." That revelation was met with a resounding, "YES! I'm going to LOVE that day! At least we've broken her book-eating habit.

Writing a Living Epistle: My Family

http://www.writinglivingepistles.com/p/my-not-so-crunchy-family.html

About This Blog/ Me. Bart, also known as Sheldon or just "B". My husband of over ten years. He's what I would describe as a mixture between Raymond Barone. From Everybody Loves Raymond. From The Big Bang Theory. He is an Oompa Loompa of Science. By trade, my best friend, and quite honestly the best man that I know - despite his absolutely horrid. Ladybug, AKA Firecracker. My "middle child." She should be the poster-dog for pet adoptions made possible by Petfinder.com and why Black Dog Syndrome. Things&#4...

Writing a Living Epistle: May 2015

http://www.writinglivingepistles.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

About This Blog/ Me. The Problem With Pedestals. Tuesday, May 26, 2015. 8220;You shall have no other gods before Me (Exodus 20:3 NKJV).". I don't want to sound sanctimonious or preachy at all, but this is something that bothers me a great deal. There is a family here in Northwest Arkansas known for the large size of their family, the way they raise said family, and what they believe. I'm not going to name names, because you know who they are, and this post isn't about them. This post, however, is for tho...

Writing a Living Epistle: Hands Raised: Worship Like a Little Child

http://www.writinglivingepistles.com/2015/08/hands-raised-worship-like-little-child.html

About This Blog/ Me. Hands Raised: Worship Like a Little Child. Monday, August 10, 2015. Driving down the road, just Ladybug and me, my old iPod Nano plays " Jesus, Son Of God. No one taught her to do that. We attend a Southern Baptist church where some people raise their hands, but most of us don't. We stand up during worship services, we sing the songs, but we never do what I caught Ladybug doing and have caught her doing a few times since then. Why is that? In college, it was not only acceptable.

This Mom's Journey: Crazy Honest

http://thischristianmomsjourney.blogspot.com/2014/09/crazy-honest.html

Monday, September 1, 2014. As I visited with a friend about the start of school, I could hear him starting to have trouble. It's not a single-sense recognition. When he hits, yells, cries. when he's losing control. it hurts us too. Remember, I usually can't stop these things. Usually, I can just stay by him, speaking in a calm voice, using few words. Or that's the aim anyway. I'd be lying if I said I'm a champ at dealing with meltdowns. Because I do know. As I made my way to the service, all I could do w...

This Mom's Journey: Sick Day

http://thischristianmomsjourney.blogspot.com/2013/10/sick-day.html

Thursday, October 10, 2013. Remember when I said last week that Ryan could deal with a stomach virus easier than a mosquito bite? If you missed that post, it's right here. Well, I've had the opportunity to test that theory. Okay, so it wasn't as bad as a throwup bug, but it was *ahem* intestinal in nature. And it required much cleanup. There were Lysol, Clorox wipes, and many loads of laundry. It was another one of those days that seems to live you more than you live it. It's a sick day, right? After thi...

Wednesday, June 20, 2012. The Church Monster: The Mr. BlueShirts. This is the second installment in the "Church Monster" series. if you missed yesterday, you can click *HERE*. To catch up. Remember, the only thing I have to offer is experience, and the experience and issues I'm sharing are out of a heart to make sure even one more person isn't hurt. Disclaimer over, on with the post. You like a joke? I love a good joke. Here you go. So a family with a kid with severe autism walks in a church. Maybe you'd...

This Mom's Journey: Maelynn Elaine

http://thischristianmomsjourney.blogspot.com/p/princess-maelynn-elaine.html

This is Maelynn Elaine, the pretty, pretty princess. She made a princess's grand entrance, too. We intended to wait and have three years between all of our kids. Richie and Ryan were three years and three days apart. They even shared the same due date, June 9, the perfect due date for a band director's wife! Yeah Don't say stuff like that if you don't mean it. She made quite an entrance, born on a Wednesday in the middle of winter. She's also a big fan of her biggest brother. And she's going to do great ...

This Mom's Journey: Universal Studios

http://thischristianmomsjourney.blogspot.com/2014/08/universal-studios.html

Wednesday, August 6, 2014. The day after we finished at Disney, we had a day at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. Eric and I had been here on our honeymoon for just a day, and I had been here on a different band trip. Both of us were a bit apprehensive about this one, just because we hadn't come as parents before and weren't sure there would be much for our kids to do. We had nothing to worry about! Daddy and Richie at lunch in Circus McGurkus. Eh, never mind. It's similar to the rockets at the Mag...

Tuesday, April 2, 2013. This is My Brother. Love wash over a multitude of things; make us whole." Sara Groves, When it Was Over. It's Autism Awareness day. Technically it's autism awareness day every day on our little corner. So when April 2nd rolls around, it catches me off guard every time. Not that I don't appreciate the. uh. holiday. We do. We feel supported and loved by the extra Facebook posts and tweets posted for just that reason. So I'll let the faces do some talking. My littles don't know what ...

A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet. Home is Where My People Are. Giddy Up, Eunice. Read by tens of people every single day. So the Saturday morning routine in our house is that there really isn’t any Saturday morning routine. We don’t always have a big pancake breakfast or go for a family walk or hum duets from the 80’s while we work on our macrame’ plant holders. I pretty much pulled that last option right out of thin air. Trisha’s Southern Kitchen. It’s an inspirational hour all the way around. I don&#821...
