Chimera Update | Blake Maloof Projects

https://blakemaloof.wordpress.com/2011/05/08/chimera-update

A Game Design Blog. Time Travel & Narrative. Project Mendel →. May 8, 2011. I recently fixed up the Chimera prototype I started in college with embedded fonts and tutorial boxes to explain how to play the game. It’s still a very rough prototype, particularly in the combat which I find extremely boring. I have plans for an improved combat system, but I’m not sure when I will get to actually implementing it. Right now I’ve begun to redirect my focus to the genetics simulation. Filed under Project Chimera.

A Game Design Blog. Welcome to the Projects. Chimera Update →. Time Travel & Narrative. April 29, 2011. In my senior year at SCAD, I led the development of a project that I entitled Rift. I became very fond of that name. It is a simple word, but it has a powerful and mysterious connotation and I greatly enjoyed designing a logo with those four letters. Then, a month after we completed the prototype, you know who. Share on Facebook (Opens in new window). Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window).

Rift Dimensions | Blake Maloof Projects

https://blakemaloof.wordpress.com/2010/08/04/rift-dimensions

A Game Design Blog. Chimera: Genesis and the Constructor. Welcome to the Projects →. August 4, 2010. A small group of SCAD students and I produced was the tip of the Rift iceberg. The game we produced was episode 1 of an epic journey across space and time and an exploration of parallel and perpendicular dimensions. The mechanics of time and dimensional travel are based around theories by Rob Bryanton. In his Imagining the Tenth Dimension. And observed effects of quantum physics like quantum superposition.

Project Mendel | Blake Maloof Projects

https://blakemaloof.wordpress.com/2011/05/28/project-mendel

A Game Design Blog. May 28, 2011. I recently decided to try a new experiment in genetic simulation that would allow me to prototype different concepts of genetics and crossbreeding. Over a few nights I put together a processing sketch using the Recursive Tree. Script as a starting point. Because plants are much more simple than creature, they can easily be drawn by a computer program, given a set of parameters, and produce a wide variety of forms. A whole bunch of BS: Onwards to Science!

http://skillcrafting.blogspot.com/2010/01/onwards-to-science.html

A whole bunch of BS. The blog of Benjamin Soderstrom -. This blog is dedicated to the process of my attempts to become a successful video game artist. Thursday, January 21, 2010. Well, I'll probably end up doing some more concepts for the environment, but for the time-being, I have some time to work on the Scientist character. He's a sort of quirky mix of Doc Brown and Einstein with a little Kramer in there as well. Here are a few concepts as well as a quick Zbrush rough for proportions / anatomy:.

A whole bunch of BS. The blog of Benjamin Soderstrom -. This blog is dedicated to the process of my attempts to become a successful video game artist. Sunday, February 7, 2010. Well, forgot to post the shots of the scientist that were in the Alpha presentation. Basically just normal maps and diffuse to test the baked textures. I also did a little lighting test to simulate roughly what he might look like in the game environment (if he were all grey). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Furthermore, I discovered that UDK really washes out normal maps due to light mass. I did some research online and found that it really improves the visible quality of the normal maps if a Constant3Vector is multiplied with the original normal map with settings something like this:. A whole bunch of BS. The blog of Benjamin Soderstrom -. This blog is dedicated to the process of my attempts to become a successful video game artist. Monday, February 15, 2010. Translation Device and Monocole Together at Last! So, I think I'm about 95% done with the said Translation device and Monocle. I need to read up on some Tutes for animated textures so I can fix the emissive aspects. Other than that, I think it's time to move on to some old-fashioned, hard-core assetting!
