CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei. Thursday, March 19, 2009. Crisis management and 3rd sector PR. The need to plan ahead is made obvious in the area of crisis and  issues management. Crisis's occur unexpectedly. But just because they are unexpected does not mean the PR department is not prepared. Preparation is achieved through planning. One thing I see is that with successful planning, a crisis/issue can become an opportunity for the company to show its efficiency with dealing with problems. . But of course, it woul...

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei: A typical PR program

http://www.cmns1290staceymk.blogspot.com/2009/03/typical-pr-program.html

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei. Thursday, March 12, 2009. A typical PR program. I think that this reading really sums up everything we have learnt so far. Since chapter 1 (or my first blog entry), we have learnt the steps necessary in implementing a PR plan which is smooth and successful. Things like media relations and ethics were also mentioned to broaden the issues that must be looked at with the formation of the plan. Just laying the PR diagram here for reference:. Set objectives - Plan - Implement - Evaluate.

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei: Tactics, tactics and more tactics

http://www.cmns1290staceymk.blogspot.com/2009/02/tactics-tactics-and-more-tactics.html

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei. Thursday, February 26, 2009. Tactics, tactics and more tactics. These 2 chapters really introduce many different approaches a PR campaign can take. These tactics are not limited to what is present in the readings but expand with the creativity of a PR practitioner. These readings make me think a lot about the daily challenges a PR practitioner faces. It is often difficult to come up with PR plans and having to do approach each campaign differently and creatively. After readi...In a ...

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei: Media Relations

http://www.cmns1290staceymk.blogspot.com/2009/01/media-relations.html

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei. Thursday, January 29, 2009. This week's readings bring two main points to my attention. Firstly, there are only certain things that journalists find interesting and a public relations officer has to understand this. Secondly, in order to be a successful PR practitioner, establishing good ties with journalists and editors is essential. In essence, we must be creative and flexible. These ideas have made me understand that if I aspire to become a PR professional, I must understand the ...

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei: Ethics

http://www.cmns1290staceymk.blogspot.com/2009/02/ethics.html

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei. Thursday, February 5, 2009. Ethics is probably one of the most important issues in all areas of the world and PR is no exception. . I think that there are two important areas we must understand about ethics. First, ethics must be practiced internally and externally. Second, ethics is necessary in all areas of PR planning. Basically, it is a chain reaction beginning with a PR practitioners personal choices. For a company to be looked upon in a good light, it has to be ethical. In...

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei: Relationships!

http://www.cmns1290staceymk.blogspot.com/2009/02/relationships.html

CMNS 1290 Stacey Mei. Saturday, February 14, 2009. From the start, one of the things mentioned about what was included in public relations was its importance as a means of corporate and social conscious. PR firms can achieve this by engaging in corporate social responsibilities like internal PR and building community relations. This readings remind me that in the field of PR, it is a constant goal to keep relationships between people strong and good. This does not apply only for the organization-clie...

CMNS 1290 Intro to PR. Thursday, February 26, 2009. Is research an opportunity or a cost? I think two key points to my learning for this week’s readings are. 1 Research will help practitioners to define attitudes and lead to better strategy. Research is the key to any successful public relations, communication and/or marketing efforts, not just in the business world, but also in the non-profit organisations and government sectors. 2 Failure of a project is constituted to the paucity of evaluation. CMNS 1290 Intro to PR. Monday, March 16, 2009. Do Third Sector organisations still need this (risk, issues, crisis and recovery) management? I think two key points to my learning for this week’s readings are. Unlike businesses that need this intangible asset goodwill for emergency cases especially when the company’s reputation is at stake. Is there then still a need for crisis management and the like for third sector? Or do they just believe wholeheartedly without a doubt that they are clean with their d...

Friday, March 20, 2009. Third Sector, Risk, Issues, Crisis and Recovery. I think the two key points for this week readings are:. Third sector creates a healthier society. PR practitioners should build relationship with them. I think the existence of the third sector creates a healthier society, since it operates largely with voluntary labour and a non-profit agenda. Is it better to have no crisis at all? But if there is no crisis there is no opportunity, isn’t it? Thursday, March 12, 2009. 2, The importa...

Just another WordPress.com site. The first day of class. September 15, 2011. We had an excellent first day of class. Second, we played a grammar game to recall sentence parts (subject, verb, object) and parts of speech (noun, verb, adjective, article).
