November 18, 2014. Sour Cream Apple Walnut Pie. Of course nothing beats traditional apple pie but this recipe is a very close second. When I'm in the mood for a twist on the original I turn to this recipe. Which I modify to my taste. The result is a topping that is crumbly and less like streusel because I reduce the amount of butter called for. Not to worry, it is no worse for wear and you definitely won't miss the extra fat. January 30, 2015. Know was that Chinese New Year meant red envelopes and red envelopes meant money! My extended family is huge so I used to make out like a bandit each year when I was younger. All I had to do was wish each of my older family members "Happy New Year", and money-filled red envelopes were all mine in return. Ot bad for a day's work, right? To give out red envelopes of my own to young well-wishers. 1/2 cup brown sugar. 1 cup white rice flour (can be found at any asian food store).

Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Cheesy Yukon Gold Scalloped Potatoes. Growing up at my house, we called these "Unfair Potatoes". Everyone always wanted the crispy part at the top, and if you weren't one of the first ones to serve yourself, you were left with the not so crispy bottom portion. So unfair! This was my first attempt at making scalloped potatoes, and they were SO good! I will definitely make these again. I followed a general recipe as a guideline, but tweaked it a little as I went along. 1 cup of milk.
