Emily in Canada

Sunday, December 13, 2009. When I was searching for work in Peterborough, I was offered two jobs practically simultaneously. In my great wisdom, I decided to work both of them, and I have somehow managed to keep things together for the last 3.5 months, but now fear that I am quickly unraveling (just in time for Christmas). I thought I would share a snippet of conversation I had last night while cutting bread for a couple of buffets. It went something like this:. Ambidexterous," I said. Oh, for like what?

Emily in Canada: October 2007

http://www.emilyincanada.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 27, 2007. Funny you should say that. There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you, yourself,. Ain't that the truth. Nelson always was good with words, I think it's because he had all that time in solitude on Robben Island to think. No, I don't want to pick a city guide up from the convenience store. But thanks for the suggestion. Friday, October 12, 2007. And this is why I love strangers. I'd accomplished for 'one so young.'. Gosh Doesn...

Emily in Canada: August 2007

http://www.emilyincanada.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Tuesday, August 28, 2007. Everything's better in colour. Alright, so since I'm not home and since there has been so much 'wordiness' going on in my blog thus far, I'm going to post some pictures. No, I didn't take them myself. I thought about it though, so it's almost. So this is The Annex.well, sort of. The first two are, and the first is not far from my house. Note the lovely Victorian architecture. My house looks nothing like that (and you've wondered why I'm such an individual? Sunday, August 26, 2007.

Emily in Canada: September 2007

http://www.emilyincanada.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 25, 2007. Facebook, the new obsession. Ok, we all know that Facebook is the newest obsession. We waste precious time.I mean, do we really need another excuse to stay inside? As a newly transformed cat lady, I especially love Facebook for this feature). I found this video on one of my Facebook friends' pages. Sunday, September 23, 2007. I am the cat-lady. It's official. I live in an attic and it even comes with it's own cat. How can I not. Become a certified cat lady? It's waaaay longer...

Emily in Canada: ,,,this is June...

http://www.emilyincanada.blogspot.com/2009/06/this-is-june.html

Monday, June 1, 2009. JUNE 1st.and we woke up to a foot of snow outside! By the end of the day most of the white stuff had the good sense to melt away, but the forecast is threatening more in the next day or two.  . It's JUNE.   . Well, what can one expect if she chooses to live in the Arctic? In other news, my laptop died.  No fear, a new one is on the way, eventually.  It's difficult being disconnected up here (although I've been doing more reading). 3 more weeks of school left! Collecting the world in small handfuls: March 2009

http://justinswallace.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Collecting the world in small handfuls. Monday, March 30, 2009. So much I could say right now. I like this blogging thing. I've just spent the past half an hour reading over previous posts, smiling at pictures from Sierra Leone, reminiscing about where I was when I wrote the different things I've written. Lots of amazing times. Lots of hard times. Lots of experiences that I'm glad I have chronicled. After the game we went for dinner and then drove back from Porto at three on Sunday morning. It was an...

Collecting the world in small handfuls: February 2009

http://justinswallace.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Collecting the world in small handfuls. Wednesday, February 25, 2009. I never knew a palm could coo. A morning's greetings to me and you. But as I walk to school each day. A tree I pass greets me this way. I've gazed among it's branches green. The source of the coos I've never seen. And so with confidence I say now. That it must be the tree, though I know not how. What do I do with a tree that sings. What do I make of it's joyous feelings. As it calls to the sun and it shouts to the sky. A few weeks ago ...

Collecting the world in small handfuls: May 2010

http://justinswallace.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Collecting the world in small handfuls. Sunday, May 23, 2010. I love grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Before you turn up your nose you must, as everyone constantly says to me, give it a try. The way that the peanut butter melts into the jelly, the warmth and crispness of the bread, the great big goopy mess of everything, the smell that fills the space giving your stomach a wake up call, it is a truely magnificent sandwich. The new book that I just read? Do I really love. Saturday, May 22, 2010.

Collecting the world in small handfuls. Wednesday, January 19, 2011. Reaching out to the world. My kids just started a project last week that I have high hopes for. We wrote a letter, as a class, telling who we are and asking questions like, "How many people are in your class? And "What do third graders do for fun in your country? I hope that I can live up to the expectations that God has for me. I hope that I honor Him with my life. I hope that I make Him proud. What a cool project idea! A cool page fro...

I realize it's been nearly forever since I last wrote an update about my life, thus keeping you on tenterhooks as to the goings on of yours truly. There is a lot going on in life and I am overjoyed to say that God continues to bless me in incredible ways. Thirdly, Joana. :) Joana is the BEAUTIFUL woman who is in this photo with me. Collecting the world in small handfuls. Thursday, December 3, 2009. We both made it out with our wallet and only one of us was hit by a car. My friend Nick and I flew out of Portugl on Friday afternoon, had an uneventful flight and arrived in Istanbul Friday night at about midnight. Nick's friend, Chadis, I think that's how that is spelled, met us at the airport and we set out on our adventure. After the bazaar we walked around for a few more hours before heading off to the airport. I really had an amazi...

Emily in Brazil

Thursday, July 10, 2008. It has been too long to keep counting the days. Dear Friends and Family-. I would like to apoligize for everyone who has been entering my blog to read about my stories because it has been a very long time since I have taken the opportunity to write. My trip is coming to an end with only 28 more days left for me here in São Paulo. I am going to try and shake it down if I can keep it all straight. Sunday, February 14, 2010. A Month of Memories. One characteristic that I often respect in others is their ability to make memories - to create special moments with friends and family and then to cherish them. My problem is, I always seem to have misplaced my camera somewhere and have to rely on the memory making of others! Such was the case at several special events we've had lately, and now that I've borrowed the pictures from friends, I thought I would share them with you. Last month meatballs were on...

Emily in Cambodia | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. Lee hai, Cambodia. March 11, 2011. I’ve been helping to organize a two-day meeting in Takeo province with all the farmers from the SRFI project. Part of that involved a business skills workshop, and guess who got to choose the topics, make up the presentation, and run the thing? Anecdote: We spent the night in a guesthouse in Takeo. Since Laura and Corinne were here, we splurged – I got a VIP room and I didn’t even have to share it. The best part? Be excited once I’...

Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. Emerson. The Magic Never Ends. July 12, 2012. So here it is! I couldn’t help but tear up when we said goodbye that night, but everyone promised to meet Tricia, Laura, and I then next morning to send us off to London in our taxi. June 14th was the day I left Canterbury, and everyone showed up to say goodbye. I felt like I was just going on another trip and would be back soon enough. I really hope that I ...

A Blog About My Thoughts on Transition. October 15, 2014 • 5:38 am. Anything and Everything… Ambiguously! I am Emily. But at the same time there’s so much else going on in that head of mine. I’m not sure that one lifetime is enough to get it all sorted out! My friend visited from out of town last week.
