Monday, November 30, 2009. An initial response towards Arietta II by any random person who passes by might just simply be an attitude of recognition and appreciation for the piece of art. This would be what I would consider to be taking the object for what it is, nothing more, nothing less. Have I chosen the right friends? Life is full of choices and consequences, and as a young person all of it can be overwhelming. Tuesday, December 8, 2009. WP3: Rough Draft 1. Torso was created in 1932 by a man named William Zorach. It is loyal to it's name, presenting itself as an attractive female torso. But it lacks arms, legs and a face, which forces the eyes to focus almost exclusively on the female anatomy. It is a fascinating piece of artwork with many symbolic themes and rhetorical arguments boldly sending their message to the world. During the 1920's Zorach experimented with a variety of art, including wood, oil painting ...

Saturday, November 28, 2009. When trying to analyze my sculpture, I was mostly just thinking “a man made from aluminum”. But when you know the title and really start to put the pieces together, it is much more than that. The sculpture I was assigned is called Story. Yes, this sculpture does look like just a man made from metal, but the real point is the actual story behind it. Hence the name Story. Though, because this takes such a strong part in what his sculpture stands for. He mentions smoking and...

Tuesday, April 13, 2010. For your final writing project, you will be required to write a rhetorical analysis of the sculpture you were assigned. The specific requirements for this analysis are the same as WP1. For example, choice of materials and the space of presentation are two noticeable differences; of course, these are not the only aspects that differ, but it is a good place to start (you will be expected to generate additional avenues of inquiry, so do not limit yourself to the two I provided).
