Happy spring →. April 16, 2014. I grow bamboo in my garden, I love the sound of the wind through it’s leaves and the bright green stalks in the sunshine it’s a great plant to have – plus it’s extremely useful. Maybe I take this ‘grow your own’ thing too far, but I wonder what the carbon foot print of the humble garden cane is? I could go out and buy some brittle canes from the garden centre, but it’s so much more fun to grow it yourself! Happy gardening my friend! I started with an old farm trailer (which i was able to swap for the promise of a few chickens once they were ready for the plate). After stripping it i increased the floor space of the trailer by bolting a large steel roof rack cargo carrier to the old frame. Corrugated roof and side plus ramp. Ramp and nesting boxes. Inside view of the nesting boxes and perches. Astro turf in nesting box. The chef and the waitress. Homemade Labneh →. Green Mountain Farm Guest Book. Welcome to Green Mountain Farm. Asparagus, Potatoes, Rhubarb and More. The weather on Canada’s west coast has been tantalizing for the gardener in me! I’ve been obsessing over our garden for the last couple of months. Since this is the first time planting on this scale here at Green Mountain Farm, we have had to purchase many plants and seeds to get us started. Beside our second raised bed, we took a chance and planted three varieties of early potatoes: Russian Blue, Frenc...

I haven’t been as busy on here as usual, something I’m aiming to remedy I promise. But I thought I’d share a little bit of nice news with you if you don’t mind. Today my very first article was published in The Bolton News. They have given me a column each week to write about allotments and gardening and I’m so excited. It’s a brilliant opportunity and I’m so very thankful to them. May I plant out yet?

The best place to seek God is in a garden. You can dig for him there. (George Bernard Shaw). May 20, 2014. Sometimes on the allotment – for us rookies especially – it’s difficult to tell who is friend and what is foe. This was true this week, when giving the plot a thorough weeding, mowing and trimming, we came across several visitors we weren’t sure if to admire or to send packing! The first two were flowers – or should that be weeds? On safer ground, we were also able to admire more familiar favourites...
