The Last Minute Phenomenon

http://johnwilliford-lastminute.blogspot.com/2008/07/how-does-human-brain-make-tough.html

The Last Minute Phenomenon. Saturday, July 19, 2008. How does the human brain make a http:/ www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif. What circumstances and situations influence our brain's ability to think clearly and recognize our true wishes and desires? The Last Minute Phenomeon is a specific facet of the myriad psychological situations in which the brain makes a decision under duress. Here are two examples of Last Minute Phenomena. 1) Flipping a Coin. What if it's tails? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Polyphasic Sleep Log: Day 5

http://johnwilliford-polyphasic-day5.blogspot.com/2008/07/home-polyphasic-sleep-last-night-i-got.html

Polyphasic Sleep Log: Day 5. Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Last night I got really engaged in working on my blog. I decided to skip the first two hours of my four hour morning class because I wanted to wrap up the work that I had put into my blog from the night before and because I feared that I would fall asleep in class. When I woke up I was extremely frustrated and irritated. I tried to rant a bit to my friends about my obstacles with Dymaxion sleeping, but I didn't feel like I was thinking logically&...

Polyphasic Sleep Log: Day 6, 7

http://johnwilliford-polyphasic-day6-7.blogspot.com/2008/07/during-last-two-days-i-have-had-tons-of.html

Polyphasic Sleep Log: Day 6, 7. Friday, July 18, 2008. Two consecutive nights of oversleeping would provoke the ire of most polyphasic sleepers, especially when they are in their adaption process. I was slightly disappointed in the oversleeping, but I do not think it will affect me much if at all. In fact, I consider periodic monophasic sleeping to be a potential addition to my complete polyphasic sleeping plan. That sounds pretty good. So you sleep 30 minutes every 4 hours? Polyphasic Sleep Log: Day 8, 9

http://johnwilliford-polyphasic-day8-9.blogspot.com/2008/07/in-early-stages-of-my-polyphasic.html

Polyphasic Sleep Log: Day 8, 9. Monday, July 21, 2008. In the early stages of my polyphasic transition, my brain was often flooded with new polyphasic sleep related thoughts. Now my experiences seem to be reaching a sort of equilibrium. My new daily thoughts on polyphasic sleep seem to be diminishing. I like to consider this new equlibrium as an indicator that I am becoming well-adapted to polyphasic sleeping. The hardest waking period has continued to be the 7-11am time block. My four hour Chinese r...

Pros and Cons of Polyphasic Sleeping

Pros and Cons of Polyphasic Sleeping. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Absurd increase in free time (do all the things you never had time for). Intensely lurid and lucid dreams (REMS). Relative Sensations of Time in Polysphasic Sleep

Relative Sensations of Time in Polysphasic Sleep. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. In Dymaxion sleeping patterns the waking periods of time are identical in length and symmetrically located across a 24 hour period. If all variables were neutralized and each minute felt exactly the same, then all the stages would yield identical productivity from their participant. 1 Sunlight comes and goes. Philosophical Implications of Polyphasic Sleep

Philosophical Implications of Polyphasic Sleep. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. If the constituent individuals in society were all polyphasic sleepers, customs, beliefs, and values would all be incontrovertibly different. Polyphasic Sleeping brings up many fascinating philosophical concepts and ideas. Polyphasic Sleeping helps clarify some familiar philosophical ideas, and it also newly introduces other philosophical conjectures. Relative Sensations of Time in Polyphasic Sleep. Dymaxion Sleep Log: Transition

Dymaxion Sleep Log: Transition. Monday, July 14, 2008. I have been transitioning towards the Dymaxion Sleep Schedule for quite some time now. This transition has had two stages. One day (July 5) about three weeks into my China Trip (July 5), I was checking my email when I whimsically decided to start researching Polyphasic Sleeping. I read Steve Pavlina's web page on Polyphasic Sleeping, and I was so interested that I could not look away from the screen for a few more hours. I have chosen a plan that wil...

Polyphasic Sleep

Monday, July 14, 2008. Describes a category of sleeping strategies aimed at sleeping more often for a shorter cumulative period of time. Two popular polyphasic methods are the Uberman Sleeping Schedule and the Dymaxion Sleeping Schedule. The Uberman Sleeping Schedule consists of 6 naps every 24 hour period with each nap around 20 minutes long. The Dymaxion Sleeping Schedule consists of 4 naps each "day" with each nap lasting around 30 minutes. See How Dymaxion Sleep Worked For Me. Links to this post.

Digging Up The Present | Archaeology and what it tells us about past peoples and ourselves.

Digging Up The Present. Archaeology and what it tells us about past peoples and ourselves. Door Stops & Altars. 8220;It’s a funny thing,” Phillip Crummy, then (as now) Director of the Colchester Archaeological Trust, said in a lecture I attended back in the late 1970’s, “how archaeologists often dig up altars but hardly ever find door stops.”. This one is certainly an altar but is everything odd ritualistic? I’m also blogging my experiences in an on-line learning experience with Brown University.

Retro-fitting DVRs with a usb port. Consumer video products have long since moved on from Standard Definition (SD) video products, but the older analog signals captured on personal tape based recorder products remains. Regardless of the rights management issues which have withered away and made digitiziation more difficult. the lack of a method to even extract the MPEG2 stream from a video to optical DVD burn has consigned many DVRs to landfills or abandonment.
