katiemaytoo quilts

Friday, March 23, 2018. Since I've finished my "assignments" for the month, I don't have anything specific to report, but I have been sewing! First, on Monday I finally got it together and mailed off the two quilts I made plus a few my mom made for the Share the Love. Quilt donations for A Doll Like Me. You've seen one of the quilts in finished form, but I'm just going to share both again. I love them both so much! Yeah Probably should have. Oh well. Far too late now! katiemaytoo quilts: parade of tops

https://katiemaytoo.blogspot.com/p/parade-of-tops.html

I have a lot of quilt tops. Too many, really. In the sidebar, the finished quilts get all the glory. The tops are getting a little feisty. So they'll get their own page. Gradually I'll add them as I find and take photos (some are pre-blog! And add their info as I find it and the time to post it. Feel free to ask me to go looking if it's not here and you want to know. When they become finished quilts, they'll get their own link over there on the side. The APQ Blog Buddies blocks swap top. Kit I purchased ...

katiemaytoo quilts: hailey's quilt - the last of the Christmas quilts

https://katiemaytoo.blogspot.com/2015/02/haileys-quilt-last-of-christmas-quilts.html

Sunday, February 15, 2015. Hailey's quilt - the last of the Christmas quilts. I don't have much to share this week. I haven't sewn much, but what I have done is top secret, so it's time I finally posted the last of the quilts I gave away at Christmas. Early last year, my brother-in-law's girlfriend gave me a stack of owl print squares that her sister had cut with the intention of making a quilt for my niece, Hailey. That's as far as it got, so she asked me to step in. Finally it needed to be done and I l...

katiemaytoo quilts: charity quilts part 1

https://katiemaytoo.blogspot.com/2014/10/charity-quilts-part-1.html

Wednesday, October 1, 2014. Charity quilts part 1. I haven't been blogging much, but I HAVE been quilting! After being shamed publicly about the rack of quilt tops hanging near my longarm by the gal who fed our cats while we were on vacation this summer (she didn't really shame me, but she gets all feisty when I say that, so I'm saying it! I decided it was time to get something done. I have backs for a lot of these. I've bought longarm thread to go with these. Why are they just sitting there? This one I ...

katiemaytoo quilts: supernova!

https://katiemaytoo.blogspot.com/2014/08/supernova.html

Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Last Saturday, the hubby asked me what I was going to do Sunday. I thought about it a little and, knowing that I had most of my weekend chores done, I said "quilt a quilt." It was kinda half-hearted, but I started thinking about it more during our dinner and decided maybe I would. So we stopped for some batting before heading home. A little more commitment there. I settled on Supernova. You may remember these. S - on vacation. (A good vacation includes quilting, right? Lots of...

katiemaytoo quilts: another block!

https://katiemaytoo.blogspot.com/2015/05/another-block.html

Wednesday, May 27, 2015. I'm trying to catch up on the Arcadia Avenue quilt-along. So last week I worked very hard on block #2. I cut out all the pieces - only 13 per block this time - and placed them where they'd go in the block:. I'm still loving how this book tells me what to cut! Then I started sewing. It doesn't look like much yet. But a few more pieces. And it's starting to look like something! Then I got to the pointy-point corners and had rectangles to cover triangles. Hmmm. And there she is!

http://justbeecuzzblog.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Just BeeCuzz Quilting Buzz. Saturday, October 5, 2013. Once again our Australian friend, Tania, taught us another fun technique. This morning we went over to her house for a lesson on discharge dyeing of black fabrics. The following are some pictures of some of the process using Softscrub with Bleach:. The fabric has a freezer paper kangaroo ironed on in the corner. Tania is applying the Softscrub paste with a little bleach mixed in. The change in color is almost immediate. Links to this post. Canuck Quilter: Checkerboard border

http://www.canuckquilter.com/2015/07/checkerboard-border.html

Monday, July 27, 2015. It seemed like a good idea, then not so much, then good again, then I ground my teeth. I think it was worth it. The blue is a bit washed out from the camera flash, but that’s what I get at 9:30pm! I thought my airplane quilt needed a little something more. A checkerboard border to echo the nine-patch alternate blocks sounded just right, and with strip piecing it would come together quickly. In theory. About halfway through I didn’t think this was such a good idea anymore! I love ho...

Someone who crafts plays. Visual Artist - katie.shipley@btinternet.com. Saturday, 22 March 2014. Over the last few years I have developed a series of small sketch and notebooks. I’ve been making and collecting them, occasionally giving them away to friends as presents if I can bare to part with them. Each document is unique; they are handmade with text and imagery, reused prints or hand drawings accompanied by text, a short story or perhaps just one line. Each one is a precious record of a moment in time, to share and covet.
