musings from dave: May 2014
http://musingsfromdave.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Dave's a place, not a person, for what it's worth. Sunday, May 18, 2014. Wading back into amateur night. We have a boatload of Solomon’s Seal down here, which feels like an embarrassment of riches. This one poked up through some construction crap on the side of the road (there are a couple of developments going in just down the road). At any rate, the second plant I saw, according to my theory, would be a year or two older than the first. It’s got the aforementioned twins. And then, o happy day, bluets!

Dave's a place, not a person, for what it's worth. Wednesday, May 6, 2015. And the Lord sayeth.”TROUT LILY! And lo, the angels did smile. The back of our house is insane. In the foreground, way down low, we have purple.the vinca, aka myrtle. Just next to them and bit taller, an insane quantity of this frivolity:. Next to that, a hilarity of azalea:. TODAY is THE day for this almost-open look, where the color is the most saturated. Tomorrow this will all be different. And the downward-facing . lily?

Dave's a place, not a person, for what it's worth. Sunday, September 21, 2014. I appear to be in Athens today. I am beyond tired with jet lag. But I'm not complaining, as this is the view from the roof of our hotel. Yep, that's the Acropolis. The travel gods were kind to us. Our hotel. Had our room ready for us when we rolled (staggered? In around 11 this morning. We crashed, hard, and groggily peeled ourselves out of bed for a late afternoon stroll. See you tomorrow. Sweet dreams. This may explain how s...

Dave's a place, not a person, for what it's worth. Tuesday, October 29, 2013. A matter of focus. I found a birch sapling today, hallelujah. My first birch buds since moving down here. I’ve seen yellow, black, white, gray, they’re all here, but not in the abundance they are in Vermont. I saw something behind it I wanted to focus on, but I had set the camera’s focus on “manual”, and then forgotten I’d done so. So the first shot out of the barn was blurry. Even something out of focus can be beautiful. Recen...

Dave's a place, not a person, for what it's worth. Friday, May 8, 2015. Shagbark hickory buds are not for the faint of heart. IPhone photos – not ideal, but not half bad, by some of my criteria (subject, composition, and what not). Sucky by others (crispness, clarity). It is what it is – I was doing a quick after-dinner walk down to the end of the road and back and I just couldn’t resist.I even deliberately left the. Cameras behind, but as you can see, I’m a junkie. A junkie for spring. TODAY is THE day ...

Wanderin' Weeta (With Waterfowl and Weeds): Dancing anemone
http://wanderinweeta.blogspot.com/2015/08/dancing-anemone.html
Wanderin' Weeta (With Waterfowl and Weeds). Nature notes and photos from wanderings in BC, Canada, mostly in the Lower Fraser Valley, Bella Coola, and Vancouver Island. Good places to walk. Sunday, August 02, 2015. I've been asked for photos of my entire setup. I'm working on it, but it's easier said than done. This is part of the reason why. I get sidetracked. And in between those times, he sometimes dances. I'll post the whole kit and kaboodle tomorrow, I think. Glad to see hes still doing well! If you...
Wanderin' Weeta (With Waterfowl and Weeds): Stained glass wings

Wanderin' Weeta (With Waterfowl and Weeds). Nature notes and photos from wanderings in BC, Canada, mostly in the Lower Fraser Valley, Bella Coola, and Vancouver Island. Good places to walk. Friday, July 31, 2015. Aren't these wings pretty? Wood gnat, Sylvicola sp. And he flew directly to the flashlight I was using as a side light, and stood there, posing for me. And yes, I can see the halteres, one on either side, where the second pair of wings would be if he weren't a fly. View my complete profile.

Wanderin' Weeta (With Waterfowl and Weeds). Nature notes and photos from wanderings in BC, Canada, mostly in the Lower Fraser Valley, Bella Coola, and Vancouver Island. Good places to walk. Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Hey, where'd it go? Time elapsed, elation to despair: 4 seconds. From the bees point of view? Thanks. Yes, its all in the point of view, isnt it? Is there a right side and a wrong side to a web? I must look into that. Is there a right side and a wrong side to a web? I must look into that.

Wanderin' Weeta (With Waterfowl and Weeds). Nature notes and photos from wanderings in BC, Canada, mostly in the Lower Fraser Valley, Bella Coola, and Vancouver Island. Good places to walk. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. A month's worth of aquarium pix; the odd shots taken while I was stalking something else. One of the smaller hairy hermits, wearing a live barnacle on his shell. On Barnacle Mountain. Flatworm on the wall, carrying a small snail. Supper's cooking! Making a snail taco. Fan-shaped carapace: c...

I got here by accident. Now I don't want to go back. Friday, July 01, 2005. I arrived in Mumbai this morning. My Inbox had a message from a very close buddy. It finds a permanent place as the last post on this blog:. Its hardly been 12 hours since you left this place, but I miss you already. I don't know why, it can't be because we met every day,. It can't be because we smoked together,. Nor can it be because we shared a drink,. It can't be because we stayed at the same place,. Number in Mumbai would I?

Musings from Cleveland-- Sprawled Across the Davenport of Despair
Thursday, August 26, 2010. Just came back here and saw the active comment section. Not sure if anyone cares to tell me why/how this happened? I don't mind, and am rather amused. Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Follow Me on Twitter. I'm not ready to retire the old blog, but I do get on Twitter from time to time.@dmagan. Sunday, December 28, 2008. Hot Damn, 'Cilla. I know that the late Elvis is rather sad, what with the drugs and fried banana sandwiches and all, but it's something I can't turn away from, either.

A blog of indefinite things from Creeksedge, MD. Besides the daily or weekly comings and goings this blog contains personal comments on the national political situation and technology. Wednesday, July 22, 2009. Here's Bella pulling herself up the pole by using pullies. Grace and Nonna threading beads. Bella surrounding herself with a bubble (sorry for the orientation - I forgot to flip it). Ella and Sara making bubbles. Grace makes a basket (with a little help). Laying out the baloon. Dave's a place, not a person, for what it's worth. Saturday, September 9, 2017. Why I love it here. Without further ado, the 2017 Westminster West Community Fair. It starts with a parade. This year's theme: New Beginnings. Each of those little white flags below has the name of a kid born within the last year. A nice counterpart to Brattleboro's Strolling of the Heifers: The Hefting of the Strollers. Those are our elected state officials - our Senator, Jeanette White, and our rep, Mike Mworicki. Musings from Doha | Musings of a Miami girl living in Doha, Qatar
Musings of a Miami girl living in Doha, Qatar. Doha as Character Building. May 10, 2015. By Alex bint Eisa. To those of you who I talk to on a regular basis, and/or read my twitter, you’ll know that I absolutely hate one of my professors. I have also always tended to believe that people tend to behave the way they do because they’ve never been made to do otherwise. Not too long ago I would always cower from confrontation. And though it still makes me super uncomfortable, I’m learning that most ...My most...

Participating in the Blogging from A to Z Challenge using a variety of topics. Tuesday, April 30, 2013. I’m a big fan of zebras. I just love seeing the contrast between the white skin and the black stripes, and thinking about how the patterns on zebras are as individual to them as fingerprints are to us. I love to see the alternating stripes of black and white in the hair of their manes. While very striking to look at, I will admit that zebras are a little boring to stitch. The stripes also serve to diss...

Monday, January 25, 2010. Minnesota Vikings Blame George W. Bush For Playoff Loss. Citing his failed response to Katrina, the presence of his father in Saints owner Tom Benson's private booth, as well as the fact that everything else seems to be his fault, the Minnesota Vikings today blamed their overtime NFC Championship loss to the New Orleans Saints on former President George W. Bush. NOTE: Original. Not borrowed from "The Onion.". Thursday, January 21, 2010. The answer is, "Just wait and see." Fo...
musingsfromedge | Thoughts and ideas from one of Scotland's leading textile art communities
August 8, 2015. So …. we’ve spent months working out the best way to show this exhibition and working through all the little cracks and problems en route, but now all that is over. The theme of myths and legends has proved for some an awful hurdle and others had too many great ideas and starting points, it was hard to pin themselves down to a couple of their favourites. The result should ( and is, because I’ve had a sneeky peek at the images sent in) be yet another fascinating show. Hope you can make it.
