A Sunday Pierogi (or Pyrohy) Making Session | Wanderlust for Food

Exploring the world one dish at a time. Moroccan Lamb Meatball Tajine. Bami’s Famous Sugar Cookies →. A Sunday Pierogi (or Pyrohy) Making Session. April 23, 2012. As I’ve mentioned a few times on this blog. My friend had never actually made pyrohy before so we had her grandparents on skype in the kitchen to walk us through the tricky parts (in Ukranian! We learned that having Frank Sinatra playing in the background makes the time go faster and that when in doubt, add more butter. 1 cup warm water. 2 cups...

Preserved Lemons (Moroccan Cooking Part 1 of 2) | Wanderlust for Food

https://wanderlustforfood.wordpress.com/2011/07/22/preserved-lemons-moroccan-cooking-part-1-of-2

Exploring the world one dish at a time. Sunday Markets in Wellington, New Zealand. Lamb Tagine with Peas and Lemons (Moroccan Cooking Part 2 of 2) →. Preserved Lemons (Moroccan Cooking Part 1 of 2). July 22, 2011. I’ve never used any part of the lemon rind in cooking other than the occasional zest, but for Moroccan cooking you actually use whole slivers of the rind of preserved lemons to get a bold lemon flavor. Making the preserved lemons is the easy part it’s waiting a month to use them that’s hard!

Exploring the world one dish at a time. A Sunday Pierogi (or Pyrohy) Making Session →. Moroccan Lamb Meatball Tajine. January 23, 2012. Last year I posted a few Moroccan dishes including how to make preserved lemons. I dipped into my stash of preserved lemons (which are still going well! To make this tajine that’s bursting with citrus flavors. I made this in a shallow enamelled cast iron pot, similar to the Le Creuset Buffet Casserole. 2 tbs flat leaf parsley, chopped. Tsp freshly ground black pepper.

The Big Decision | Notes from the Curry Trail

https://notesfromthecurrytrail.wordpress.com/2010/10/13/the-big-decision

Notes from the Curry Trail. A gringo girl with a hopeless crush on all things curry. As some of you know, I applied for a foreign clerkship on the South African Constitutional Court. More than a year ago. Fortuitously, then- Justice Albie Sachs. Selected me to serve as a clerk for his successor on the Court, Justice van der Westhuizen. The Con Court is a truly inspirational place, and I was extremely humbled when I visited it with my family last December. The Court is described. The Great African Steps.

Durban Red Curry (or, Mother-in-law’s tongue) | Notes from the Curry Trail

https://notesfromthecurrytrail.wordpress.com/2010/02/10/durban-red-curry-or-mother-in-laws-tongue

Notes from the Curry Trail. A gringo girl with a hopeless crush on all things curry. Durban Red Curry (or, Mother-in-law’s tongue). Before I knew I would be going to South Africa in December, one of my requests for my mom (who was there in August) was to bring back some Durban red curry powder. Now, I realize using curry powder is frowned upon by “authentic” curry enthusiasts, but I was curious to compare the Durban-style curry blend with what is typically used in the U.S. And let me tell you, it is HOT!

Thursday, February 3, 2011. I was given some lovely duck sausage that a friend had made. What better than potato, onion and duck fat! Once again Dorie has given use an easy recipe to tweak to our own specifics. https://notesfromthecurrytrail.wordpress.com/2010/10/14/skinny-girl-curry-part-i

Notes from the Curry Trail. A gringo girl with a hopeless crush on all things curry. Skinny Girl Curry, Part I. The weather is FINALLY getting cold around here, and nothing makes me feel like cooking a good curry than a chill in the air. The catch: I’m trying to be healthier, so anything with heavy creams, full fat yogurt, or lots of ghee/butter is going to be out of my repertoire for a while. But, I’ve been experimenting with some of Robin Miller’s. Recipes from her Quick Fix Meals book. 1 tbs peanut oil.

Benji's Modern Life: June 2014

http://heidibenj.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 22, 2014. Sydney Part Deux (Day 1). The first and last time. I was in Sydney the weather was atrocious, so I knew I had to go back one day to get the full experience. When Study Abroad Susanna planned her trip up to Brisbane. I thought, with a free place to stay, this was my time to go back. We had roughly 50 [awesome] things to do in the 48 hours I was there, and Susanna saw to it that each awesome activity was accomplished. Impressed with Opera Bar! The food was perfectly fine and the pric...

Wanderlust for a Glutton

Travel.food.music.fashion.party.fun.life. Wednesday, February 9, 2011. This pizza had the tomato base with olives, with salami, prosciutto, mushrooms and mozarella. I’m so glad I tried this, I was worried it wouldn’t work out and I would be eating sandwiches for dinner, but it was so easy. Pizza is literally going to be the flavour of the month at my house. Here is the dough recipe, it makes roughly 2 large pizzas, more if you like a thinner crust:. 8226; 450g (3 cups) plain flour. 8226; 1 1/2 tsp salt.

Wanderlust for Food | exploring the world one dish at a time

Exploring the world one dish at a time. December 17, 2012. Living in Australia during the holiday season makes me crave Southern food from home since it’s summer and doesn’t really feel like Christmas. Luckily, my search efforts were rewarded with a few green tomatoes at the market this weekend that were hiding in a box full of hundreds of tomatoes. It didn’t take long before I had those beauties coated in dredge and sizzling in oil in my trusty cast iron skillet. I always eat my fried green tomatoes wit...
