Whisks & Needles: November 2008

http://whisksandneedles.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

To knit or to cook? That is the question! A peek inside the life of a knitting chef as she stumbles through patterns, recipes, and life. Saturday, November 29, 2008. Daring Bakers: Mmmmm.Caramel. I love caramel. I find the sweet, creamy, gooeyness to be irresistible. So it is quite appropriate that I officially end my Daring Bakers maternity leave with Shuna Fish Lydon's. Signature Caramel Cake with Caramelized Butter Frosting, as published on Bay Area Bites. Helping out with the gluten-free option.

quiltygoodness: Ticker Tape Finished

http://quiltygoodness.blogspot.com/2010/04/ticker-tape-finished.html

A quilt blog by a non-traditional quilter in Chicago. Sunday, April 25, 2010. I finished my ticker tape quilt! Rather than starting and stopping for each bit, I just sewed between them. I know some people have thread cutters on their machines. Alas, mine does not, so without it, something like this would be incredibly tedious. It was a fun exercise and I can't wait to see everyone's at next month's meeting! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Chicago, IL, United States. View my complete profile.

quiltygoodness: First quilt of 2010 complete

http://quiltygoodness.blogspot.com/2010/01/first-quilt-of-2010-complete.html

A quilt blog by a non-traditional quilter in Chicago. Monday, January 11, 2010. First quilt of 2010 complete. As I mentioned in my goals, I would like to make and give away more quilts for charity this year. I didn't meet my goal last year so I figured a kick start would be helpful. I requested a kit from Quilts for Kids. And got a package very quickly! Here is the back. It is really cute fabric- cats on the front and little mice in a maze on the back. I am Arizona; a person, not a place. This is SO cute!

quiltygoodness: Garden Gate Quilt finished

http://quiltygoodness.blogspot.com/2013/01/garden-gate-quilt-finished.html

A quilt blog by a non-traditional quilter in Chicago. Monday, January 14, 2013. Garden Gate Quilt finished. This is one of those quilts that has been lying around for a long time, waiting to be finished. I had no urgency to complete it, as I started it after my daughter was born and I was hoping to hang it on the wall in her room. It is called "wishbone". All that is left is to add a hanging sleeve and hang it up! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Chicago, IL, United States. View my complete profile.

quiltygoodness: leo baby quilt finished

http://quiltygoodness.blogspot.com/2013/02/leo-baby-quilt-finished.html

A quilt blog by a non-traditional quilter in Chicago. Thursday, February 21, 2013. Leo baby quilt finished. I finally finished this quilt! I wasn't able to make it to the store to get more thread. I was cleaning up all my notions and so forth when I found some thread that was the exact same color. Score! So I was able to finish quilting and add the binding. I went with machine binding for two reasons:. 1 It is faster. I hope the recipient likes it! February 22, 2013 at 7:28 AM. What a fun fast quilt!

http://quiltygoodness.blogspot.com/2010/10/finally-another-finish.html

A quilt blog by a non-traditional quilter in Chicago. Saturday, October 30, 2010. I don't know about you, but I keep a little spreadsheet of all my finished quilts, with a tab for WIPs/UFOs. When I added this one, I was a little shocked/dismayed to see that last one I finished was in May. :( I'm glad to be back though! Plus, since I've made my little one announcement (see previous post), I found out one of my friends is 12 days ahead of me, one is 12 days after, and another is about a week after that!

This is a disappearing nine patch quilt made for a friend having a baby (aren't they all, right now? I like making gender neutral quilts, even when the sex of the baby is already known. I think it is just fun, playful, and colorful. Here is the detail:. It feels good to check another one off the list! Chicago, IL, United States.

http://quiltygoodness.blogspot.com/2010/04/quick-baby-quilt-is-done.html

A quilt blog by a non-traditional quilter in Chicago. Wednesday, April 7, 2010. Quick baby quilt is done! I finally had some time after all the Easter busy-ness to finish this quilt. I ended up quilting in random straight lines, inspired by Kate. I really love it. It was so fast and easy too. But it needs to go off to a little baby girl in Seattle. A quick shot of the backing and binding. My husband and I don't mess around when it comes to food! April 8, 2010 at 10:33 AM. April 8, 2010 at 6:36 PM. I've b...

I got it done super early! My friend isn't due until the end of September, but it works out. I am pretty busy in the next few weeks, and we are moving apartments as well, so everything is going to have to be packed up pretty soon. June 28, 2010 at 7:16 PM. And in plenty of time too! Whisks & Chopsticks

There have been a lot of talks about clean eat, meatless meals, veganism, gluten-free, pescatarian, and vegetarian in blogs I follow, and that got me excited to do something different this year. Since January, I have been cooking 4 days per week meatless meals. My family adapted to the new meal plans (not that they have much choice. :). I love this dish because it is so versatile: you can serve it as a hot meal, or refrigerate and serve as a salad, or as tapas. 2 celery ribs, thinly julienne. In a hot sk...
