Twelve by Twelve Themes Series. With this theme I wanted to go with a close-up, and decided my embellisher would be perfect for showing the texture of this plant. Part of the Twelve by Twelve Collaborative Art Quilt Project. I wanted to be a little untraditional and go right to the source of the subject, which was chocolate. Fiberart Musings: Installation Part 3

http://fiberartmusings.blogspot.com/2015/07/installation-part-3.html

Saturday, July 25, 2015. I knew going in that photographing this piece would be difficult. There was no place inside that would work. Even though I have a really high ceiling in my studio, I would have had to put nails and screws into it, and I didn't want to do that. We started looking at my outside patio, figuring out when the sun hit the area, and saw a window of opportunity from about 6 to 9 am. I arranged the bags below,. After some final untangling, we started shooting. With the side view. July 25,...

Fiberart Musings: Portfolio 2010

http://fiberartmusings.blogspot.com/p/portfolio-2010.html

Early in 2010 we began a remodel on our home that turned our world upside down for about six months. I photographed the process. While we were denied access to most of our living spaces, my studio remained untouched and thus became my sanctuary. The construction series is my interpretation of the chaos going on around me. Each Piece 36" x 12". Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Twelve by Twelve: The Book. Portfolio 2009 - 2005. Twelve by Twelve Colorplay Series. Twelve by Twelve Themes Series. And Sew It Goes.

Fiberart Musings: The Empty Space

http://fiberartmusings.blogspot.com/2015/08/the-empty-space.html

Saturday, August 8, 2015. That's the title of this piece. It's another is the series I'm working on involving loss. This side view shows that it is about 6 inches deep, including the 3/4 inch thick felt I mounted it on. A new grandson arrived this week. Jack Norman joined older brother Holden. Our daughter Julie lives in Big Sur, a very idyllic place. About a mile in from the ocean. On a dirt road. It's a nice place to visit. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Twelve by Twelve: The Book. Fiberart Musings: The Installation, Part 2

http://fiberartmusings.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-installation-part-2.html

Sunday, July 19, 2015. The Installation, Part 2. Now that I had the support system I needed, I had a couple of issues to work out. How high should I hang the support? I didn't want it to be eye level, but I didn't really want you to crane your neck to see it. I wanted the support to be an non entity, it's only a support. I ended up choosing what looked pleasing to me, which was 7 1/2 feet. How did I want the shapes to hang? Should it be able to be disassembled completely? So very delicate and poignant.

http://1000oaksglassart.blogspot.com/2013/07/1200-miles-and-only-20-to-go.html

Monday, July 8, 2013. 1200 Miles and only 20 to go. I left for Pilchuck Saturday morning and made it to Sacramento that day. Woke up at 5 am and headed north. Drove 500 miles and finally quit in Eugene, OR. California is a big state! While I could drive the length of the Central Valley on auto pilot, once in the Shasta area I-5 narrows and climbs to about 5,000 feet. It is very beautiful. Linda A. Miller: Afternoon at the Getty

http://lindamillerdesigns.blogspot.com/2015/06/afternoon-at-getty.html

Monday, June 22, 2015. Afternoon at the Getty. When my nephew suggested a Sunday trip to the Getty Museum I was, of course, up for going despite having recently visited (see my post on the Turner exhibit. It was a lovely day up on the hill. Good to see the space and the art through the eyes of family as I (somewhat) led a tour. new discoveries were made going into galleries I had not seen in a while. I was captivated by Paul Gauguin's sandalwood sculpture "Head with Horns". Rene Magritte, 1967. I love th...

Karen C Schoch: Twelve by Twelves

http://karencschoch.blogspot.com/2014/02/twelve-by-twelves_17.html

Monday, February 17, 2014. I have been working this winter on making 12 x 12s. These are 12 inch by 12 inch fabric pictures that are then attached to a 3/4 inch deep framed painter's canvas. I use velcro to attach them so they can be exchanged or rotated in case you have several to match the season of the year. You can see in this first picture the one on the bottom right is still in the process of fabric selection. Most are not based yet but all are getting ready to under go the stitching process.

Fiber * Art * Nature

Saturday, July 30, 2011. To weave, to blog, to live life? Well, it's been a busy summer so far. We married off a daughter. I taught a summer class. I've been working out - seriously, with a trainer in a gym. The garden is growing - but not too happy now since the summer heat has them all resting. A lot of activity - but none of it weaving. I've not even had my 'projects' on my lap in the evening. What's with that? One curates 'galleries' there and can ' pin" photos from wherever. Links to this post.
