FiberArt Northeast: April 2013

http://fiberartnortheast.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Another Opening, Another Show. Sunday, April 28 was the opening of FANE's fourth annual show at the Mahopac Library. This year members were asked to produce a piece that had more than one component and was inspired by a line of poetry or song, thus the title, Poetic Fragments. View from the balcony. I took all of these pictures with my new iPhone and I took them very quickly, so some are not as clear as I would have liked. Not the camera's fault, but mine. Vivien Zepf- Summer Kiss.

FiberArt Northeast: Kimono Inspired

http://fiberartnortheast.blogspot.com/2013/05/kimono-inspired.html

Tuesday, May 7, 2013. I was amazed at the diversity that was displayed. Each artist had their own interpretation. The only "rules" were that it be made to a specific size and that it would drape over the wooden stand. Some were quilted, some were sheer, some were surface design, some were painted, some used paper, some were multilayered. Each one was a reflection of its maker and all were stunning. Be sure to click on the pictures for a bigger view. Andrea Shedletsky- Color Play. Jamie's was one of the f...

Saturday, January 17, 2015. Artist Trading Block challenge. After reading about Artist Trading Blocks on the Gelli Arts blog. And becoming completely inspired by the idea of a six sided collage, Jane issued a challenge. To the FANE members to make a block or two. We cut our blocks 1.75" x 1.75". These are the outstanding results! Labels: Artist Trading Blocks. They look terrific, Jane. Thanks for posting them. January 18, 2015 at 11:47 AM. They look great Jane. Thanks for posting! The collage of my life: A work in progress. Thursday, July 31, 2014. Where I've Been and What I've Been Doing. That's right - I've been to Wonderland and back again! We threw a Sweet Sixteen bash for my middle daughter last weekend and the theme was "The Mad Hatter's Tea Party." So for the last month or so, we've been getting ready, by painting signs like the ones above, making tall flowers like the ones below (from pool noodles and tissue paper! But now I need a vacation! The collage of my life: A work in progress. Friday, September 12, 2014. The person who received my bag of goodies was unable to attend the meeting due to a family emergency, so next month I get to see what she made. Something to look forward to! I'm not sure if I'll make these into a book or some kind of wall hanging. They are certainly too beautiful to be stuck in a drawer somewhere, don't you agree? Wednesday, September 3, 2014. The collage of my life: A work in progress. Sunday, June 22, 2014. Jane Davila, the facilitator of the FANE group I meet with monthly, had an idea for a fun summer swap project. All the participants put some craft items into a brown lunch bag and then we all swapped bags. I won't show you what I put in my bag, but above is a photo of the supplies I received: some stamps, some glass beads, and some soft paper flower embellishments. Here is the white fabric with the flowers stamped on:. I ironed some of th...

The collage of my life: A work in progress. Sunday, April 12, 2015. My third piece (out of 5) for the FANE cube project is just about finished! Once Easter was over, I was able to spend my days off buckling down on the applique of the grape hyacinths (don't you just love a lawn inundated with grape hyacinths in early spring? Hope I can keep the momentum going for the next two weeks. I think these panels are lovely, Cindy! We want to see them all! April 15, 2015 at 7:47 PM. April 16, 2015 at 9:20 AM.

The collage of my life: A work in progress. Saturday, January 31, 2015. Last Day of January. January is probably my least favorite month of the year and it always seemed soooo loooong. Between the end of the holiday festivities and the beginning of the frigid winter weather, January always seemed so bleak and unending. But the days, weeks and months seem to be passing more quickly than ever, and here it is, January 31st already! Where did the month go? Tuesday, January 27, 2015. And since we had enough a...

The collage of my life: A work in progress. Saturday, February 28, 2015. Every few days, I see the weather forecast, hoping that it will show a warming trend. And every forecast for the whole month has been the same: cold, cold, and more cold! I keep thinking, it can't go on much longer, but tomorrow is the first of March and we are looking forward to another 6 inches of snow. Sheesh! And here's where it's headed. I intend to add another bird in flight and a nest among the branches. The days just fly by!

The life and times of a craft-a-holic. Thursday, March 19, 2015. I just picked up the Renaissance quilt from Michael's that I made for a client. OMG! I just love it. It's going to be very hard to hand it over. LOL. Now, I took some photos, but honestly, I don't think they to it justice. First, I had to take it from an angle so that I wouldn't get a flash back. Gail Ellspermann: Mountains of magazines....

http://gailellspermann.blogspot.com/2013/11/mountains-of-magazines.html

A peek inside my creative journey. Sunday, November 3, 2013. I love magazines and subscribe to a rediculous number of them that cover a wide range of subjects - fashion, quilting, flowers, mixed media, dolls, sewing, health - the list goes on. I try to read them as they come in because they can accumulate into big piles really fast. One of the things I enjoy about magazines is feeling free to tear. One thing I love to do is make collages of my torn pages. I make them in color schemes, filling in area...

Fiber * Art * Nature

Saturday, July 30, 2011. To weave, to blog, to live life? Well, it's been a busy summer so far. We married off a daughter. I taught a summer class. I've been working out - seriously, with a trainer in a gym. The garden is growing - but not too happy now since the summer heat has them all resting. A lot of activity - but none of it weaving. I've not even had my 'projects' on my lap in the evening. What's with that? One curates 'galleries' there and can ' pin" photos from wherever. Links to this post.
